Sliquid Satin Review

Sliquid Satin

The sex educator in me screams with horror every time I need to pick up a prescription from the drug store. Why is that? See, the prescription pick up is facing the section with condoms and lubricants. And every now and then I will see a person buying a KY jelly and my heart sinks. I can’t be that crazy person who talks to random strangers purchasing lubes, about the pH and the osmolality of the product. I can throw at the stranger glycerin and propylene glycol arguments and quote studies. This is a privilege I can exercise when someone consents to talking about sex or intimate health with me. That poor soul just wanted better sex, and not a stranger telling them that the great “deal” they got on the KY is at the expense of their own health. What I can do though, is talk to you. From another post of mine you might already know how important the ingredients of a lube are.

Luckily, everything created by Sliquid has always been glycerin, propylene glycol and paraben-free. Their products are also not tested on animals. Their lubricants are all pH balanced, but the acidity of the products varies slightly. One of the lubes that has a little higher pH, but it’s also approved as a daily intimate moisturizer, not just a sex lubricant, is the Sliquid Satin. Beautiful on the outside, but also created with care and ingredients that help with lubrication in long-term. It’s one of the fanciest Sliquid lubes created so far!

Ingredients and Health Benefits

dscn2884Sliquid Satin, like most Sliquid products, comes in 2 oz, 4 oz or 8 oz bottles, which are recyclable. While Satin is water-based, it’s also infused with Aloe, Carrageenan and Vit E. These three ingredients are not only essential to healthy natural moisturizing, but Carrageenan is linked to lower risk of HPV (papillomavirus infection).

Full list of ingredients: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Carrageenan, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners), Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

Sliquid Satin is a slick water-based lube that’s runny and has a similar consistency as Sliquid H2O. It’s colorless, odorless and tasteless. It never gets sticky or hard to wash off. And as I mentioned, it’s designed to be an intimate lubricant as well, making it perfect for people who experience vaginal dryness, due to menopause, drug side-effects, chemotherapy or a number of other reasons.

Using it

I love using it daily for my kegel balls exercises. It’s great for vaginal intercourse too, or combined with oral sex, because it doesn’t have any taste. It’s safe to use with all sex toys and latex products. I don’t find it thick enough for anal sex, but if you are using a smaller anal toy, or putting extra lube with a lube shooter, it could be used for butt play too.

In conclusion

Sliquid Silk is a great body-friendly water-based lube and intimate everyday moisturizer for sex and masturbation; it is also great during menopause or in cases of vaginal dryness. It has some of the best natural ingredients one can expect from high-end Sliquid lubes. It’s a little too runny for me as my go-to lube is actually Sliquid Organics Gel. But I can happily recommend it because of the Carrageenan it contains and the long-lasting, non-messy lubrication it provides. But if you are looking for a good anal sex lube, I would pick Sliquid Sassy or Silver instead.

Sliquid Soul Review

Sliquid Soul

You already know how crazy I am about Sliquid. It’s one of my fave intimate care brands that makes some of my top choices of lubes, intimate washes and massage oils. Everything created by them is cruelty-free, vegan, pH-balanced, non-toxic, glycerin, propylene glycol and paraben free. Need I say more?

Until now you could choose between their many different kinds of water-based lube or pick some of their silicone or hybrid options. But this year Sliquid released their first oil-based lubricant, Sliquid Soul, that also doubles as massage oil or body moisturizer.

What is made of?

Sliquid Soul ReviewSoul‘s main ingredient is coconut oil, and we all know about the amazing qualities and health benefits of this nature’s best product. When used vaginally it fights yeast infections, it provides the skin with long-lasting moisture, helps regeneration and elasticity. And most importantly, it provides a super slick lubrication. As if that wasn’t enough, but the folks from Sliquid added to the formula several other amazing organic oils.

Full list of ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Sunflower Seed Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Seed Butter, Organic Almond Oil, Organic Apricot Kernel Oil, Natural Tocopherols (Non GMO)

The result is a stunning liquidy blend of pure slippery goodness. Because of how the oils are mixed, Sliquid Soul is unlike other oil-based lubes. It remains liquid, while most other oils stay solid and only melt upon contact with body heat.

What is it good for?

You can use Sliquid Soul for practically anything. Cracked heels, dry skin, after-shaving care, massage oil, frizz and split ends of your hair. Anything on your body that needs nourishment can benefit from it. That’s one of the reasons I like this oil-based lube so much — it’s so much more than just lube. I like traveling smart and packing light, so Sliquid Soul has me covered and replaces several body-care items that I would otherwise have pack on top of lube.

Sliquid Soul

You can use Sliquid Soul as a vaginal moisturizer as well. For those of you who suffer from vaginal dryness or reduced lubrication (for various reasons, say, drug side-effects, chemotherapy, or menopause), Soul is an excellent natural and organic option that contains nothing artificial or harmful for your body.

But you probably want to know how it performs as a sexual lubricant. Pretty spectacularly, I would have to admit. The closest I can compare Soul to is a high-quality silicone-based lube. It has the high viscosity, it’s super slippery, long-lasting, runny and liquidy. With the only difference that it’s entirely natural and it’s safe to use with all sex toys (except porous ones, which you shouldn’t be using in the first place). As you know some silicone toys are not compatible with some silicone-based libricants, and since there isn’t anything that can help you know for sure if a particular silicone lube will ruin your silicone sex toy, we always advice to avoid using these together.

Sliquid Soul ReviewSince Sliquid Soul is natural and organic it’s safe for oral sex and there isn’t anything harmful you can accidentally swallow. It does feel oily, but as long as that’s not unpleasant to you, you can go ahead and use it for oral sex (it actually moisturizes your lips and keeps them soft). It’s a really good lube for hand jobs and intimate massage. It doesn’t dry out so it’s great to use with sex toys or for intercourse. But where it really shines is anal play, whether it’s silicone butt plugs or anal sex, Soul will give you the longevity that you’re looking for from a lube when it comes to butt stuff. Since the rectum is not self-lubricating, you will need a lot of lube for anal sex. While the colon can absorb water and make water-based lube dry out after a while, an oil-based lube will last much longer and is a much better choice if you were to wear a putt plug for several hours, or have anal intercourse.

Not latex compatible

The only thing to always keep in mind is that oils degrade latex barriers and are not safe to use with most condoms or gloves. When it comes to external condoms, you can safely use Trojan Supra. Avoid latex-free condoms such as SKYN and Durex Avanti because they’re are made from Polyisoprene which still gets damaged by oil-based lubricants. And there’s, of course, the FC2 condom, which is made by nitrile and is oil-compatible as well.

Things to consider

The only thing to keep in mind is that, as with all oils, it might stain some clothes and sheets. It’s also a bit more runny than most lubes. It’s not as liquid as massage oil, but it’s more runny than Sliquid H2O. If you prefer thick gel-like lubes, you should consider Sliquid Organics Gel.
For now Soul only comes in the adorable carry-on luggage size of 2 oz. It sells for $12 at the lovely body-safe online store Peepshowtoys, but you can get it 10% off with my coupon code. It’s a long-lasting lubricant and moisturizer and despite its price tag, it’s going to last you a while.

Svakom Nova Kegel Balls Review

Svakom Nova Kegel Balls
I used to absolutely love the Svakom Nova Balls. Until I read the manual and went to their website. Then I felt so conflicted that I postponed writing this review for a while. Why was I so torn? Because I loved the product, I still respect the company in many ways, but I have to raise some issues with their marketing.

My Beef (to put it mildly) with their Marketing

I just can’t live in a world where this official product video exists. First sentence: “According to a research from the internet most men prefer a tight vagina over a loose one because tight vagina allows them to have better sexual experiences.” Okay, f*ck everyone from the marketing team who decided this was an appropriate way to market Kegel balls. Loose vagina shaming? And the reason why you should take care of your sloppy, undesirable loose vagina is solely for… male pleasure? Oh, no, no, no! This is just horrible. And from a company that’s trying to be feminist and is supposedly all about female pleasure?

Please, Svakom, take down or edit this video. And edit the copy on the website and the product manual. This is just bellow you.

Svakom Nova BallsEven the product manual and the website read “We designed these exercise courses especially to help those who have a loose vagina after giving birth.” There’s a number of ways to describe body changes that occur after childbirth without calling it a “loose vagina”. And there are a million other reasons to use Kegels, besides childbirth. Kegels are for everybody. There are Kegels programs for penis-owners, there are products like the Svakom Nova Balls for vagina owners. And they’re great for all ages and stages of life. Because everyone can benefit from exercising their PC muscles. And because keeping them toned makes women orgasm more easily, enjoy sex more, experience more pleasure during partnered or solo sex. There’s your marketing message. Even if you want to exploit the postpartum market, there are sex-positive messages Svakom can use instead. For instance:  “You are a parent now, but you still deserve pleasure and you are still a sexual creature. Do this for yourself.” Tapping into female fear of loose vagina and their partner leaving them for someone younger and tighter is just a cheap dirty trick.

The Company

Svakom Nova Kegel BallsThat’s strike one, but I am not going to tell you to never buy anything from Svakom. Because there are a number of good things about them (including the actual product that is so terrifyingly marketed). Svakom is an international sex toy company that sells primarily vibrating toys, all designed in the US, according to their website. All of their products are silicone and are body-safe, aesthetically pleasing and high-quality. They make a number of really well received products (such as Keri, Echo, Mini Emma), and actually try to bring innovation to the table. They’ve created a vibrator with a camera, so you can see inside your own or your partner’s vagina, they have vibrators that feature the most long-lasting batteries on the market and provide you with up to 48 (!!) hours of playtime, and they have a couple of warming up vibes, and that’s a category that I think shouldn’t be overlooked, since temperature often is key to arousal and blood flow.

What do Kegel balls do?

dscn3027Kegel balls, or Ben Wa balls are usually a set of two vaginal balls that help you do your Kegel exercises. These are a series of voluntary squeezes of your PC muscles (Pubococcygeus muscles). And since that’s a muscle group that’s really difficult to locate and exercise in everyday life, these balls were created to help you find the muscles and do your Kegels more easily. Yoni eggs or other vaginal eggs made of crystal serve the same purpose. But there are a number of added benefits to using a set of two balls, as well as using balls that are not uniformly made from just one material, such as glass, metal, stone or crystal.

Kegel balls made for medical purposes or by sex toy companies have a smaller ball inside a larger sphere. Which makes the balls jiggle every time you move, step, squat, dance or stretch. With the added factor of the weight of the ball and the force of gravity, that makes the balls want to slip out of you, but the slight jiggle makes you tighten up and squeeze your PC muscles every time that happens. Your reflexes would be to not let the balls slip out. So instead of counting and keeping track of your PC muscle workout, you just put them in, walk around or do some chores, while the balls do the rest for you. Another advantage of Kegel systems, such as Svakom Nova, is that these offer progressive weights and sizes, which will allow you to gradually make your Kegel routine more difficult with time.

The lighter the ball(s), the easier to hold in. The bigger the size of the ball(s), the easier to hold in. That’s why usually people start with a big light ball, then move towards two balls, and increase the weight while decreasing the size. Small and heavy balls are the most challenging .

What are the benefits of Kegel exercises (aka kegels)?

Svakom Nova Kegel Balls
Toning up your PC muscles will give you better bladder control, stronger vaginal muscles, better genital blood flow; it helps with arousal (especially if you do your kegels before sex), helps you experience more pleasure, achieve orgasms more easily, and even be able to have multiple orgasms. It can reduce pain during intercourse. Clearly these are great for postpartum recovery, but I think everyone can benefit from them, at any stage of life. I would recommend kegels to anyone who’s sexually active. They really help you learn about your own body, and reflect about what feels good. And all of these squeezes and “movements” you are going to learn while squeezing the balls are super fun to apply and use during intercourse.

The Product

Svakom Nova Kegel BallsSvakom Nova Balls come in three different colors: teal, violet and bright pink/red (the teal is just gorgeous). They’re a set of three exercise balls. They come in a beautiful stylish box, which includes a 1-year warranty, and a storage bag.  Nova balls are entirely covered in silicone, including the cord, which makes them seamless and very smooth. This is one of the reasons I think they’re one of the best Kegel programs currently on the market. They’re easy to clean and truly hygienic, as you don’t get vaginal fluids or lube between the  plastic and silicone parts or on the cord (which is the case with most other Kegel Balls), they’re really smooth and feel great during use and upon insertion. The balls do have the name of the brand engraved in the silicone, but if you wash them right after use no fluid get stuck in there.
  • The first one is a big single ball with a diameter of 1.41″ (36 mm). Just for your reference, that’s the diameter of the larger Luna Beads by Lelo. It weighs 49 grams or 1.73 oz.
  • The medium size has two balls connected together, with a slightly smaller diameter of 1.26″ (32 mm) and it’s 2.65 oz (75 grams) heavy.
  • The smallest and heaviest set of two balls is just 1.10″ (28 mm) in diameter (the size of Lelo Luna Beads Mini or Noir) and it weighs 3.35 oz (95 grams) which is much heavier than the Lelo Luna Beads (which weigh a mere 74 grams).

How to use it?

Kegel balls are meant to be used while you are active. They won’t do much if you’re just sitting or lying down. Sure, you can still make some use of them, but then you will have to do your counts and voluntarily exercise. Ideally you should be wearing them while walking, running, dancing, swimming, doing squats or stretching. They’re entirely waterproof. The suggested use is 30 minutes a day. You start with the biggest and lightest ball and use that one for 30 days, and move to the more challenging one after a month.

I would suggest using a good quality water-based lube for insertion. Don’t overdo it with the lube because if things are too slippery it’s going to be extra challenging to keep the balls inside (which you can do later when you’ve mastered the heaviest ball to make things even more advanced). The easiest way to place them inside is lying down. If you are new to kegel balls, please do your first experiments at home where you can easily remove them, if needed. The last thing you want to happen is for you to be at the shopping mall or doing your workout at the gym and freak out that the balls are going to slip out. Wearing tight underwear and something that gives more support (panties instead of a g-string) and maybe wearing pants or tights, not a skirt or a dress, can make you feel more comfortable when you wear them in public, so even if they start slipping out, your underwear and clothes can keep them inside instead of rolling down the floor or the sidewalk.

Svakom Nova Kegel BallsBen Wa balls are super fun to use right before sex because they will get you really warmed up. You will have enough circulation in your genitals, and you will in generally feel more aroused (I personally feel really horny after my kegels). They’re something really hot for you to include in your foreplay or as a teasing tool. Let your partner know you’re wearing them during dinner. Have them lick the balls clean for you, after you’ve used them. Have them tease your clit or use an external vibrator while the balls are still in. You can wear them vaginally during anal intercourse. Or wear them during oral sex (both receiving or performing). The possibilities are endless. And if you’ve read Fifty Shades of Gray and if you’re wondering: yes, you could wear then while being spanked.

You can get the Svakom Nova Balls from LUVOQA for $59.

Sliquid Silk Organics Review

Sliquid Organics SilkIf one were to survey what kind of lube people prefer, you will get very polarized results. A lot of people swear by their silicone-based lube, but many are huge fans of water-based ones. And what exactly is a hybrid lube? Well, my friend, it’s the best of both worlds. Sometimes hybrid can refer to a blend of water and silicone, other times, water and oils. In both cases these lubricants have amazing qualities that rarely go hand in hand and even more rarely can be found in a single product.

The brand

Sliquid Organics Silk is an organic water-based blend mixed with silicone lube and botanical extracts. If I needed to give it a short description, I would say: it’s one of the best products Sliquid has created thus far — which speaks volumes. It’s pretty safe to say that Sliquid is the favorite and is the most beloved lube brand by sex bloggers and sex educators. Sliquid never makes anything that has glycerin, petrochemicals, parabens, or anything that’s not pH balanced, or has high osmolality. They don’t test their products on animals and  they’re all vegan-friendly.

The store

When Peepshowtoys asked me to pick a lube out of their selection and review it for them, I had a very hard time choosing. To begin with, Peepshowtoys are extremely careful about what they stock, especially when it comes to intimate care products. They’ve been working with a number of reviewers and established sex bloggers for years, and they’ve made a commitment to only stock glycerin-free lubricants. I was faced with a wide selection of brands and different kinds of lubricants. And while many have made it a goal in life to test out all Sliquid lubes, in general, I was frowning upon the idea, simply because I already had my ultimate #1 pick by the brand: Sliquid Organics Gel. I’ve used it for years, and I didn’t have any desire to switch to anything else. But I knew that my best pick might be many people’s least favorite, so I jumped at the opportunity to dip my… toes into more Sliquids.

The ingredients

Sliquid Organics SilkI geek out on lube ingredients a lot. I am very sensitive to intimate products I have high standards of what goes in my body and touches my own and my partners’ bodies. And this is why I love the Organics line by Sliquid. If their Naturals line is super pure and as close to H2O as possible, their Organics products actually are infused with natural ingredients that are good for your body and help skin regeneration and elasticity, as well as promoting better natural lubrication. Silk is not just a water-based product, it’s in fact aloe-based. It also contains hibiscus, flax, green tea and sunflower seed extracts. All these ingredients are very nourishing and naturally hydrate your skip deeply. The silicone ingredient (Dimethicone) makes the product extra long lasting and slick.

Full list of ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Organic Extracts of Hibiscus, Flax, Green Tea & Sunflower Seed, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Emollient Ester, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

Why is it better than a water-based lube?

First off, being glycerin-free, makes this lube entirely non-sticky. It doesn’t solidify into big nasty disagreeable lumps. True, there are many water-based lubricants that don’t get sticky at all (try any of the water-based lubes I’ve reviewed). Still, what a lot of people experience with glycerin-free lubricants is that they can dry out pretty fast. Often reapplication is needed and that can be a mood-killer (or simply distracting) for some folks. Being a hybrid blend, Sliquid Organics Silk doesn’t dry out the way a regular water-based lube will. At the same time it has all the amazing qualities of one: it’s easy to clean, it’s tasteless, and safe to use with silicone sex toys. Its extra slickness allows it to be used for anal sex.

Why is it better than a silicone-based lube?

Silicone-based lubes can be a little too slippery and messy, and usually don’t go well with a number of silicone sex toys. A lot of people don’t like pure silicone lube because it coats the vaginal walls, rather than gently mixing with the natural vaginal lubrication. Sliquid Silk Organics Organics blends in really well, it doesn’t separate from bodily fluids and doesn’t have that slightly “greasy” silicone touch.

Why is it better than oil-based lube?

Unlike oil-based lubes, it’s latex/condom compatible and safe to use with TPE and TPR toys. A number of non-silicone toys are not stable to use with oil-based lubricants. Sliquid Organics Silk is not oily at all and it mixes better with vaginal fluids than natural oils.

How does Sliquid Silk Organics feel?

Sliquid Organics Silk

If you were ever looking for a lubricant that resembles cum, look no more! It’s creamy and whitish and its runny consistency resembles ejaculate a lot! If that’s your fantasy, by all means, shout that out (people need to know!)! And even if you don’t care about this resemblance, it still has a lovely texture and it’s hard not to fall in love with it. If you’re used to transparent lubricants, it might look weird at first, but you will get past that pretty easily. Silk is tasteless and very liquidy. But don’t let this fool you into thinking that it will vanish and dry out quickly.

What is it good for?

I don’t often say this, but this lubricant is good for any kind of sexual activity. You name it: hand jobs, fingering, oral sex, vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, all sex toys (including silicone toys or butt plugs, which often use something extra lasting). My only comment is: you might not like it as much if you prefer gel-like lubes to runny lubes. It’s ideal for long and rough sessions, because the silicone in the blend is going to protect you from friction and from micro-tears.

If this is not the most exciting review of a lubricant I’ve written, this is only because everything about this lube is outstanding. If I had one wish from Sliquid: make a Silk Organics Gel version, please. A lot of people will benefit from a thicker and richer formula.

You can (and you should!) get your Sliquid Organics Silk 4.2 oz bottle from Peepshowtoys for $11.99 and you can get 10% off your entire purchase from there with code WETLANDIA.

COCONU Water-Based Lubricant

COCONU Coconut Water-Based Lubricant

There are very few things that are universal when it comes to sex, pleasure and intimacy. If there is one thing that I think is great advice to give to everyone, regardless of gender, age, orientation or the kind and frequency of sex they engage in, that would be: try adding lube. Using lube makes sex more pleasurable, enhances the experience, takes pressure off your own body to “perform” in a certain way or get wet on its own. It also helps you have more sex, because let’s be honest here, if you end up with a nasty chafing or friction burn, you won’t want to *hear* the word sex in the next few days. Preventing irritation and pain during intercourse is key to leaving with a good memory of the night. Lube is what can turn “Ouch!” into a “Yes, please, gimme MORE!”.

But besides telling people to not shy away from lube, there’s not much I can do, as a sex educator and coach, in order to help people find their best fit. Often finding what product works for you is a matter of trial and error. And that’s why I am constantly trying to bring awareness about healthy choices.

COCONU Coconut Water-Based LubricantAs part of the mission to try out all the body-safe lubes, one of the brands I absolutely needed to test was Coconu. What’s special about them is that they make lubricants from coconut (you probably could’ve figured that last one by yourself, it’s a bit of a no-brainer, isn’t it). They’re most famous for their organic oil-based lubricant, but what’s truly unique to them is actually their coconut water-based lubricant.

You heard correctly. Instead of water, its base is coconut water. Which means that this lube has many of the benefits of coconut oil that many of us love and enthusiastically use in the kitchen, bedroom and the bathroom alike. At the same time it does not contain any oils, so it’s latex-compatible!

Coconu only makes two lubricants (the coconut water and coconut oil-based ones), and their products are: pH balanced, hypoallergenic, they do not contain genetically modified organisms, are alcohol, petroleum, parabens, gluten, phylates, fragrances and dyes free. They don’t perform any animal testing. Their water-based lube is certified organic and is 100% vegan.

Coconu Coconut Water-based Personal Lubricant Ingredients: Organic Coconut Water *, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose Gum, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate. * Certified Organic Ingredient.

Coconu products only come in 3 oz tubes, which means that you can take the bottle even in your carry-on luggage. They recently redesigned their packaging and I’m truly in love with their bottles and boxes. Nothing suggests it’s a sexual product, so you can safely leave it on your drawer. Everything you need to know about the product and the company’s philosophy is mentioned there.

What does it feel like

Coconu water-based is a slightly runny and liquidy lube, that has a really nice slipperiness and last fairly long for a water-based lube. It’s entirely non-sticky and doesn’t have any nasty residue. It’s fragrance free and has a slightly (barely noticeable) sweet taste, that just comes from the coconut water and is not achieved by any artificial sweeteners or sugars.

What is it good for

You can use it both as a sexual lubricant or vaginal moisturizer. It’s compatible with all sex toy materials, condoms and latex products, and it’s a great lube for vaginal intercourse, oral sex, alternating the two, and even hand sex. Keep in mind that it’s not super cushioning and if you’re going to give long hand jobs or do a lot of fingering, you might want to use their oil-based version one instead. It’s a little too runny and watery for anal sex in my opinion, a problem that their other lube solves very successfully!

Organic coconut helps you fight off yeast infections and candidiasis, and has a long-lasting hydrating effect. It increases skin elasticity and blends wonderfully with vaginal lubrication.

COCONU Coconut Water-Based LubricantIn terms of personal preferences, Coconu water-based is not thick and gel-like enough, but my partner absolutely loved it and reported it’s his personal favorite. It’s one of the lubes I really love, because it has so very few ingredients, all of which are unique and healthy. There is no other equivalent of this product on the market, and if you’re still in search for a lube that best fits your body, you should definitely consider it. I also like alternating lubes, because some are aloe-based, some have other healthy ingredients. I am trying to give my body an optimal and balanced diet and I apply the same rule to my lubricants. There are many ingredients that have great health benefits out there.

They’re a wonderful company that’s easy to shop from, provide excellent customer support and even has a blog that educates about ingredients and the benefits of using lube. The coconut water-based lube sells for $15.99 and you can get it from here. If you prefer purchasing your lube from a sex store and adding it to your cart when purchasing sex toys, you can find it at Peepshow Toys too. And you get 10% off with code WETLANDIA.

Sliquid Stimulating O Gel

Sliquid O Gel

I would normally run screaming and wouldn’t go anywhere near an arousal gel. My first thought is that it’s a useless product made to shame women that they take so long to get properly turned on or feel pleasure. A number of brands have come up with terrifying and sexist marketing when it comes to arousal gels. And that’s just the message they put on their packaging. This isn’t even taking into consideration what’s inside their products.

The truth is that what’s inside is scary stuff too. Glycerin, propylene glycol, and parabens are the least of your problems when it comes to stimulating gels. They usually have very harsh medical ingredients used to open up your blood vessels, often present in serious drugs for blood circulation. Some of these ingredients, such as L-Arginine, increase the likelihood of herpes outbreaks in those who’ve already contacted the virus. What is more, a lot of the arousal gels are quite long lasting (again, achieved with the help of really harsh chemicals) to the extent of making the clitoris very sensitive and even painful. Not to mention that what’s inside of these gels shouldn’t get anywhere near your vagina and your gentle mucous tissue that’s inside of it. And guess what? Your clitoris is actually very close to your vagina. So if something is not healthy for you vagina, probably you shouldn’t be putting it on your clit.

dscn9963But then Sliquid came up with their organic, natural O gel and I had to check it out. After all, if there’s any arousal gel I will ever put on my intimate parts, that would be something made by Sliquid. And like everything they make, their stimulating gel is glycerin and paraben free. It’s part of their Organics line that has some of my favorite products (to name one: Sliquid Organics Gel Lubricant). It only has botanical extracts that stimulate circulation and enhance sensations. Nothing that can cause you an allergic reaction or any irritation.

The full list of ingredients is: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Aloe Barbadensis, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Cyamopsis (Guar Gum), Peppermint Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Menthol, Organic Extracts of Hibiscus, Flax, Green Tea & Sunflower Seed, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

How does it feel?

Sliquid O GelFirst of all, Sliquid O Gel isn’t just a clitoral arousal gel. It’s a stimulating gel that can be used on any body part that likes tingling sensations. It’s great for nipples, clits, balls, labia majora, cocks (ones that are not too sensitive to such sensations). It doesn’t have any residue, it leaves your skin clean, dry and it’s non sticky. You only need one pump of the gel smeared over the area you want to stimulate. It will start tingling in a pleasant way, than the cooling off will subside and a gentle overall warming up of the area will follow. The tingling effect is not super long lasting, which to me is a huge advantage. You can always apply more, but no one wants to run to the bathroom and wash off their genitals to soothe a painful tingle or burn with water. There isn’t anything harsh in it ends up dripping down to one’s vagina.

How can one use it?

O Gel will leave you more sensitive and receptive to touch, caress, lick, or vibration. So use your imagination and don’t limit yourself to genitals only. Try it on some sensitive body part that your partner likes stimulated. See how they’ll react if you use some on their neck. Or inner thighs. After you’ve applied it, even a gentle breath or blow will make them shiver. It’s great for sensual play and teasing, and it can be very enhancing if used with blindfolds or restraints. Use it for sensual labia massage or scrotum and perineum massage. It’s great tool to accompany temperature play. It’s delicious when combined with oral sex. The taste of the product is slightly bitter and minty, but nothing too overwhelming.

Safer sex

It contains oil extracts so it should not be used with latex condoms or barriers.

Where to get it

You can purchase it directly from Sliquid. It comes in a 1 oz pump bottle that is extremely easy to use and that doesn’t create any mess for $18 or you can get a box with 12 pillows, each of which individually wrapped to take with you on the go. The 12-unit pack is $24, but it actually adds up to 2 oz because each of squares has a lot of the product.

Use code “Wetlandia” to get 10% off of your purchase from Sliquid.

You can also find it at sex-positive responsible stores.

SUTIL Lubricant Review

SUTIL Lubricant

Good lubricants make me happy. They make me confident, acknowledged as a woman, celebrated as a human being who deserves pleasure. They make me feel taken care of. Quality lubes make my sex life happier, and they definitely make my vagina happier after long love-making/fucking sessions. Whether I just cherish my own body, or I dive into partnered sex, I often end up chafing and suffer from a lot of friction burn. The result: the skin of my vaginal walls feels dry and bruised, and it’s very uncomfortable. I bet that’s not what you want your mornings-after to feel like. But the truth is that sex equals friction, and using sex toys equals even more friction, sooo… So nothing! You shouldn’t just take one for the team. That’s not how it should feel. Because it can feel so much better. It’s as simple as adding some high-quality long lasting lube. Often that’s all it takes to get from sad to happy.

What is Sutil to me? It’s the Tesla S of lubricants. It’s Eco-friendly, made with care and sustainability in mind, it’s new-age, alternative, revolutionary, looks like and performs like something that came from the future.

Who’s behind Sutil?

Sutil is a sister-brand of Hathor Aphrodisia. Hathor is a Canada-based, women-owned small business that didn’t just go green. It was conceived green in 1989. Their ingredients are Eco-certified and come from organic farms. It all started with spa products, aphrodisiac oils and lotions. Paraben free, glycerin free and free of harsh chemicals is not just a trend for Hathor. It’s their mission, and their philosophy.

It’s no wonder that Sutil comes in a biodegradable tube, with no useless outer packaging, and no paper waste. The tube looks like a high-end body lotion or hand cream. It only says “luxe body glide” in English and French. Their logo represents a beautiful blossoming lotus flower. It’s the perfect metaphor for female sexuality and female anatomy alike.

What’s inside Sutil?

The list of their ingredients is a who’s who in botanical, natural goodness: Aqua, Propanediol* (Zamea, botanical source), Hyaluronic Acid (Botanical source), Nelumbo Nucifera Root Extract* (Lotus Root), Oat Beta Glucan*, Gluconolactone*, Sodium Benzoate*,Citric Acid. *Eco-Certified Ingredients. What does that actually mean? Eco-Cert: “ingredients derived from renewable resources, manufactured by environmentally friendly processes”.

How is this good for you?

Lotus root: helps skin regeneration, faster healing of wounds, it’s a rich source of minerals,  vitamins A and C, and helps with inflammation processes. It’s an antioxidant, and helps collagen synthesis in your body.

Plant sourced Hyaluronic Acid: it’s found naturally in our bodies. It’s extremely hydrating and boosts skin elasticity. It also promotes cell growth.

Oat Beta Glucan: helps wound healing and collagen synthesis as well, it’s deeply soothing and moisturizing to the skin.

How does Sutil feel?

dscn1052You know I’ve tried and review a number of lubricants. I’ve used a fair number of the whole Sliquid range (including Organics Gel and Sassy), all of Good Clean Love products, the Organics lube by Wet, Aloe Cadabra, and Coconu. The fact is that Sutil is the longest lasting water-based lube I’ve tried. If I have to be honest it’s a close call with the new CBD CaraGold from Good Clean Love. It’s possible that they tie for first place. And yes, Sutil does feel much more like a silicone-based lubricant, without any silicone ingredients in it. It behaves better even than hybrid lubricants (water and silicone blend). It’s a lubricant that’s a little on the runny and liquidy side, so it might not be a perfect match if you’re looking for something super thick.

It blends really well with my own lubrication and creates a feeling of long-lasting hydration. The moisturizing properties of this lube last the day after and make my bangover (what you’re experiencing the morning after a lot of sex) recovery much faster. Actually, besides sore muscles and other completely unrelated “pains” from the heated night, there isn’t much to recover from. Because with Sutil I don’t get sore to begin with.

Is there any residue? Not in the common meaning of lube residue. It’s not sticky, it doesn’t turn into a yucky mess, but when I try it on my skin anywhere on my body and smear it, after a very long period of rubbing it and waiting for it to dry out, when it eventually does, it doesn’t just feel dry and evaporated. The spot that had the lube feels as if I put cream or lotion on it. It’s very nourished and moisturized. It washes off really quickly and there’s no post coital mess.

Who is Sutil for?

  • It’s a wonderful lube for anal play and fierce fingering. Provides a really comfortable “cushioning” and glide.
  • It’s great for long-lasting vaginal sex or if you need a lot of extra lubrication.
  • The ingredients make it perfect for postpartum bodies and after-baby sex.
  • If you are like me and tend to get sore from toys or intercourse.
  • If you’re simply looking for a really long lasting water-based lube.
  • All fans of silicone-based lube, that are searching for an organic, botanical, water-based option.
  • Delicious hand-jobs without any penis chafing.
  • Users of sex toys (as silicone-based toys are often incompatible with silicone lube).
  • Anyone who wants a lube with extra health benefits.
  • Anyone who’s in a long distance relationship or who experiences a pattern of not having sex altogether for a long period of time and then having a lot of it over a very short period of time. I was in a cross-continent relationship not so long ago and I definitely could use some Sutil to help with the fierce love-making!

Who is Sutil not for?

When it comes to lube, no two people are alike. Clearly this lube can’t fit all needs, and:

  • If you don’t like it too wet and slippery, maybe that’s not the best choice for you.
  • It also has a little bit of a bitter taste, and if you are mixing and matching activities, that might be a little off-putting for some people during oral sex.
  • It’s not a cheap lube, so if you’re financially strained and looking for a budget option, it might not be a good fit for you either.
  • If you are looking for a very thick and richer lube, the current version of Sutil might not be for you.

Luckily, the brand is working on a thicker formula and hopefully the new version of the lube will hit the market soon.

Should you get one?

I think it’s worth every dime given how long-lasting it is and the overall quality of the product. You can get yours directly from their website. You get to choose from a few options: 2 oz travel-size bottle for $15 USD, 4 oz for $24, and 8 oz for $37. I love their value pack! That one is going to last you a year! You can get their 10 ml samples (which are simply adorable) and always carry them in your purse or your pocket. I think this is the lube of the future and I wish I could magically deliver it to every woman and every couple who needs it. Don’t believe me it’s that good? Watch this video by Self Serve Toys.

You can also find them at my favorite sex stores Shevibe and Good Vibrations, or at Come As You Are if you live in Canada.

Joyboxx Storage System Review

Has it ever happened to you? You didn’t know you had a certain problem or need until some product or service solved it for you. And then you had to ask yourself: How did I live without it?

There are a number of storage solutions for sex toys. There are bags and cases, and secure boxes. There’s your dishwasher’s rack and the whole choice the Container Store offers you. And yet nothing had me prepared for the simple genius of the Joyboxx. What’s the big deal, it’s a lockable box for sex toys. Nope, my dear reader, it’s so much more than that. It’s a ventilated antimicrobial storage system that can keep your sex toys dirty, clean or wet.

First things first, what I am going to talk about here generally only applies to body-safe toy materials that are stable and are not going to start melting and deforming over each other. You cannot store toys made of jelly, rubber, or certain elastomers, touching one another because they will start melting and creating a chemical reaction. To begin with, you should toss away all of these products. Silicone, ABS plastic, stainless steel, and even glass and stone are entirely safe to be stored in a Joyboxx, all mixed together and on top of each other. There’s nothing harmful for your non-porous toys to be stored together, contacting each other, or touching the material of the box.

What does it solve?

I have a very specific problem: cleaning sex toys and drying them out, and sometimes having to hide toys that are not entirely dry. I would say every human being on the planet who uses sex toys has similar problems. Where do you leave toys to dry out after using them? How do you protect them from curious eyes or from your dog that will mistake your floggers or dildos for a chew toy. If you don’t have pets, room-mates, kids, or parents living with you, that is much less of an issue. You can probably proudly have your toys in the dishwasher or on a dish-washing rack. Unfortunately not everyone has such living arrangements. There’s also the issue of lint, dust and hair, or simply the problem of your toy touching surfaces. Not a whole lot of toys can stand upright alone (most dildos and some butt plugs can, but that’s about it). You don’t want to leave your toy on your kitchen counter or on your bathroom sink, and if you use a bathroom towel or a paper towel everything gets covered in fluff and/or lint. The people from Joyboxx thought of that too: the playtray.

Yes, I did call my playtrays the best thing since sliced bread.

What a simple creation. It’s a little rack that fits most sex toys (and can actually fit more than one). It allows your toy to dry out optimally without touching any surface. It can also be used as a separator, if for whatever reason you want to have two separate compartments in your box (again, if your toys are silicone, you don’t actually need that), but I get that controlling and highly organized people might like that it looks somewhat neat. The playtray is also amazing for drying out Sybian attachments, or keeping toys ready for you to use during a  passionate session with yourself or your lover.

The Joyboxx itself has small holes for ventilation, so you can actually throw in all of your wet and just-washed toys, close and lock the box and they’ll dry out (but not as fast as they will if you leave them out in the open on a playtray) without mold or bacteria growing inside. The box is made of food-grade non-porous plastic with antimicrobial silver ION agent mixed into it. Which means that if your toys are non-porous too, you can safely leave them inside of the box even when they’re dirty. If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to clean up, you can store them securely in seconds. Note that the box is not self cleaning, and you will have to wash it with soap if you’ve stored used toys in it.

The Joyboxx is surprisingly big and can fit a whole lot of things. Dimensions: outside 12.60”(L) x 5.5” (D) x 5.0” (H), inside: 11.25” (L) x 5.5” (D) x 3.5” (H). While it cannot fit a Hitachi Magic Wand, it can fit a Tantus dildo with a handle, several vibes, and it even holds a Fleshlight (and these things are huge!). The box has a small external compartment where you can store condoms, bullet vibrators, or a 2 oz lube. The compartment doesn’t lock and gives you easy access to your essentials.

Joyboxx Storage SystemThere’s a special charging dock hole, where you can even charge your toys while they’re drying out. Sadly chargers keep getting bigger and most magnetic ones are too large. My only recommendation to the makers of the Joyboxx would be to make the hole for cords a little bigger. If it was just a little wider, it probably would accommodate the USB end of all cords even if the magnetic part didn’t fit. And one last thing, I would love it even more if the box had a handle.

Last thoughts

The Joyboxx is a hygienic, easy solution for storing clean, wet or dirty sex toys, that has ventilation and prevents mold or bacteria growth, it’s non-porous, PVC, BPA & Phthalate free. It locks and looks like any other storage system that you have (it’s not going to raise suspicions), and comes at a pretty decent price for what you get. It sells for $35 plus $5 shipping when bought from their own website. You can also get the box or the playtray from Peepshowtoys 10% off with code WETLANDIA. You can choose between black and purple and you have eight color options for the slider and the little latch. I’m the queen of purple, so I went for the conservative one-color option, but actually mixing black and pink, or black and green looks really cool too. I would recommend it to literally anyone who owns at least a few toys and wants to store them in a discreet and hygienic way.

CaraGold CBD Lubricant

Updated on 12/12/2016.

CBD CaraGold Lubricant

You’ve already heard about my love for Good Clean Love. You’ve all seen it on the Netflix Original “Easy“. So what more is there to say? Lube is lube, right? They’re all the same!

Short reminder that this is absolutely not true. 95% of the lubricants are made with petrochemicals, glycerin and propylene glycol. They’re tested on animals and are harmful for the mucous tissue of human vaginas, rectums and penises. They put women at risk of BV and yeast infections, and at 13 times higher risk of being infected with an STI.

We don’t just need lubricants with ingredients we don’t hate, but we need lubricants with ingredients we love; which are not just “not harmful” but are actually beneficial and make your body healthier.

And in this regard Good Clean Love have outdone themselves. It wasn’t enough that they’re making some of my beloved lubes Almost Naked and Guilty Pleasure. When they introduced their newest creation CaraGold, and I read all the educational materials, I was already doing a little happy dance. Little did I know that it was even better in practice than in theory.

The science behind the ingredients

What is CaraGold? Despite what you see in this hypnotic video, no, the actual lubricant is not “golden”, nor it is made with gold (the substance being poured on the tube is not the lube itself). It’s made with something even better. The precious certified organic CBD Hemp Oil.

CBD CaraGold Lubricant

Cannabidiol, or CBD, has strong healing and pain relieving effects. Unlike the better known and more commonly used THC, CBD doesn’t have any psychotropic effect and interacts in multiple ways with the body’s endocannabinoid system. Recent research with CBD has shown significant reduction in inflammation and pain symptoms. It is a healthy and natural analgesic, antioxidant, anti-convulsant and anti-depressant.

Carrageenan, a red algae has been shown to prevent HPV (Human papillomavirus) acquisition. According to the Center for Disease Control roughly 79 million Americans are currently infected with HPV, which makes it the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. And while using barrier protection (such as condoms) reduces significantly your risk of contracting it, that’s not enough to protect you, because it’s transmitted via skin-to-skin contact. Condoms don’t cover the whole intimate area around the penis, nor prevent contact with the vulva (vulva is everything that’s outside: inner and outer lips, clit, etc.). Using dental dams and cloves can help and reduce your risk of getting infected, but again, if you don’t eliminate all the skin to skin action, you’re never entirely protected. Carrageenan has may act as an inhibitor to HPV and it’s a natural and healthy ingredient.

Organic Aloe gives the lubricant a really long-lasting formula, while it helps the skin regenerate and leave it naturally hydrated.

Full list of ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan, Organic-compliant flavor (EU: Aroma), Lactic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Organic Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil.

CaraGold comes in a 2 oz tube, placed in a beautiful little paper box that has all the information you will need. It looks really stylish and fancy, it has the usual Good Clean Love Green, but the letters and logos are gold, instead of white. It looks super fancy and is a great gift. In terms of sustainability and being green, I can spare the paper box. It does give a nice finish and makes everything easier to read than the little font on the bottle itself, but I can give up on that and help save some trees instead.

The feel

CaraGold is easily one of the longest lasting water-based, vegan lubricants I’ve ever used. It comes in a thick, gel-like formula, and it doesn’t drip and it doesn’t make a mess. The little pea-size squeeze that you will need stays where you put it, even before smearing it, which in my book is a huge deal. I can’t deal with runny lubes. I want the lube to stay on my sex toy, on my partner’s penis or vulva and not drip everywhere. I basically don’t want more lube on the sheets than on the bits.

dscn9898I don’t know what miracle formula Good Clean Love came up with, but it is soooo long-lasting. They’re recommending it as a natural water-based silicone alternative, and they got really close. What does this mean? Silicone lubes are super long-lasting and don’t dry out, compared to water-based ones. CaraGold is a water-based lube, but with a texture and qualities closer to silicone lubricants. At the same time the water and CBD lube mixes with and compliments your natural fluids, while silicone stays separated. And if I have to be honest it actually feels far better than any silicone lube I’ve tried, because it’s thicker and it blends with my natural lubrication. It enhances my own wetness. You really do need only a small drop without having to reapply too often. Using it for vaginal intercourse helps with my dryness. And not just during the act, but it actually has a long-lasting healing effect. My vagina keeps self lubricating even the day after. It blends in and complements my own lubrication really well.

Where Good Clean Love CBD CaraGold really shines is anal sex. The consistency is very slippery and almost doesn’t need reapplying. I can say that it gave me some of the most wonderful anal sex experiences I’ve ever had.

It doesn’t have any pronounced taste nor smell, and, unlike other organic lubes, it’s not bitter. Which makes it great for oral sex too (and don’t forget that HPV can be contracted via oral sex, so the powers of Carrageenan are helping you stay safer).

CaraGold is really one of the most versatile lubricants I’ve ever used. It’s superb for practically anything. From oral sex and hand jobs to vaginal and anal sex. And it’s even safe to use with your silicone sex toys. It gets a “check” in all of my boxes!

Pro tips

dscn9891-copyI love using it during my period. It helps my body not lose its pH balance, and not get too dry during my monthly flow. I put a tiny bit at the tip of my tampon or on the edge of my menstrual cup. It makes insertion easier, helps with pain and discomfort, and reduces the damage tampons cause to my body (yes, ladies, you know all too well that horrible dryness) or the friction burn from placing a menstrual cup.

And another tip for champions. During play time you can reactivate the lube with water. Yes! Unlike other water based lubes, this one can get reactivated just by adding some water. I would recommend keeping some water spray (like the way you mist your plants with). You need to add just a few drops on the areas where you’ve already had the lube and it will keep sliding.

CaraGold and Condoms

Is what we know about oils and latex really true? It turns out that we don’t know nearly enough, and that what’s backed up by science is that mineral oil and pure coconut oil could damage condoms, but there aren’t studies  showing all oils break down latex. This is why Good Clean Love sent CaraGold to a lab to see if it was in fact not latex compatible. It’s a water-based lube that has a tiny bit of CBD oil. And luckily, the results came out at the end of October and CaraGold is latex condom-safe.

Last thoughts

CaraGold comes loaded with ingredients I love. It made its way to the top in my “most versatile” and “best texture and feel” charts. There isn’t a single thing that I don’t like about it. Except the price. I know that quality ingredients and especially CBD are really expensive, and I know that doing business in a responsible way is really difficult and keeps the costs high. But the truth is that most people aren’t going to be able to afford $20 for a 2 oz lube.

Do I think it’s worth it? I absolutely do because it’s long lasting, you’re not going to run out of it very fast. And if you want a lubricant that has amazing health benefits you should absolutely try it. Good Clean Love offers a pack of three 4 ml sample pillows for $1.99 and this is a good way to check it out and decide whether it’s for you. And subscribe to Good Clean Love’s newsletter, they have some great weekly deals and sales. You can also find it at a number of stores and pharmacies, as well as at most sex stores.
