Optimale Vibrating Double Cock Ring Review

Doc Johnson Optimale Vibrating Double Cock Ring

As much as I don’t want to admit that I like Doc Johnson products these days, I have to say they’re finally coming up with quality silicone toys with excellent price-points if you’re on a budget, or just don’t want to invest a whole lot of money in a new product category.

Cock rings can often be hit or miss, especially the vibrating ones. This is why I always find it hard to justify purchasing a premium-brand cock ring — say Je Joue Mio, not to mention the out-of-board $139 Lelo Tor 2 or Pino. The Optimale Vibrating Double Cock Ring is just $35 and it’s single version is just $25.

How do cock rings work?

Optimale Vibrating Double Cock RingCock rings are an inexpensive, yet extremely fun and healthy way of enjoying bigger, stronger and longer lasting erections. They keep the blood in the penis and testicles and make everything more engorged, veiny and just… visually striking. A penis with a ring on it looks like an angry bull that just saw a red cape. And there are few things more beautiful than that! The cock ring makes the penis look like it’s going to explode at any moment, with the only difference that this effect will last during the entire intercourse and the penis will be much more sensitive and receptive to touch, oral sex or good ol’ fucking. Cock rings can be single; if they’re really small and firm, they only go around the base of the cock, if they’re bigger, they can envelop the cock as well as the balls. In contrast, the ones with double rings have one ring for the shaft and one ring for the testicles.

And the two kinds (single or double) can have vibrating versions. Vibrating cock rings are a favorite of mine in the couples toys category. The partner with the penis gets to enjoy a really intense erection and a much more sensitive penis, while the partner with a vulva gets to enjoy the bigger dick and the vibration on the clitoris (of course, we’re thinking of a hetero couple here). And vibrating cock rings are fun for gay male couples too. Although there isn’t an erogenous zone in the cis-male body that is positioned in the same place as the clitoris is, the vibrations are pleasant for the one wearing it. And of course, in M/M couples both partners can be wearing a cock ring for extra fun.

Many guys (regardless of their orientation) love vibration on their dicks and balls! My current primary male partner happens to be one of these guys who lose their mind with a little vibration on the scrotum or the perineum, so when I got to choose which penis ring from Peepshow toys to review, I had to choose the double Optimale Vibrating Cock Ring.

A few words about the Optimale line

Optimale Vibrating Double Cock RingPeepshow toys only stocks non-porous materials, so they don’t carry the whole Optimale Line, only the silicone cock rings part of it. The Optimale line offers several cock ring options, a penis pump, a silicone prostate toy, all of which are body safe. But they also make a bunch of non-body-safe options, including a couple of penis strokers, lubes and delay sprays, as well as an intimate deodorant, all of which make me cringe. I would absolutely steer clear of these products. If you are looking for a lube or a body-safe penis stroker, I would browse the selection at Peepshow toys instead. And I have to say that I am hugely annoyed with their gender marketing: OptiMALE. Ugggh. They’re trying to brand the line as “Men’s sexual health and wellness”. So the silicone rings are definitely a small step forward from their usual practices.

The packaging

There’s nothing tacky or repulsive on the box. Just an image of the product, a plain black box with the main selling points of the product. The cock ring comes with batteries included, as well as a comprehensive guide on how to put it on.

And how does one put on a cock ring?

Single cock rings that only go around the shaft can be placed when the penis is already erect, especially if the rings are stretchy. But penis rings that go around the balls should be placed on a flaccid penis — ideally, at least. Place the testicles first. Then, with the help of some lube, stretch the ring with your fingers making room for the penis; then, slide it inside of the ring as well. The ring should rest behind both testicles and around the shaft. Double cock rings have two independent rings, one for just the shaft and one for the testicles and the penis. And remove the cock ring only after the penis is flaccid again. Finally, if the penis-owner has a lot of pubic hairs, be careful and use extra lube since the pubes can get tangled around the ring, making putting it on or taking it off extra difficult (and we don’t want to make it painful either).

How does it perform?

The Optimale Vibrating Double Cock Ring has two bullet vibrators. One that will end up being on the top of the penis, facing the belly button, and one on the perineum, under the balls. That vibe provides stimulation that travels to the prostate and rocks against it (through the perineum) while thrusting. And the first motor (the one that is positioned on top) is great for making contact with the clitoris.

Both vibes are water-proof, can be removed and used separately, are surprisingly powerful and have 10 speed settings. Three of which are steady vibration and 7 of which are patterns. Again, these can be controlled independently, so you can have one speed on one motor and an entirely different one on the other, which makes your experience really customizable.

Positions that work well for clitoral stimulation

This hugely depends on your own bodies, anatomy, and personal preferences, but I found that cowgirl, missionary or anything that has you facing each other, provides good contact. I also really liked the texture on the silicone that holds the bullet vibrator. In a cowgirl position, I totally loved just slowly grinding on it, squeezing my vag around the penis, enjoying the deep penetration, and lying over the bullet vibe on the top. Overall, long thrusts are not what makes me orgasm (and I suspect a lot of women would agree). I prefer shorter ones and a lot of humping and grinding, and the cock ring was one more reason to enjoy that close contact with my partner’s body.

Don’t forget that cock rings are not just for intercourse. They can be worn during hand jobs, blow-jobs or even jerking off! They are a great solo sex tool, and sometimes practicing on your own is a better first step than introducing it to the bedroom right away.

Things to consider

If you are new to penis rings, I would highly suggest you start with a single Optimale Vibrating Cock Ring. It will be easier to use and will let you adjust to the sensation. The double rings are fabulous if you want to add more vibration to the balls, but it’s a bit of a hassle to put on. And you might find it too distracting, or somewhat of a mood killer to try to make it work.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while the ring is stretchy, it’s still not super big. So it might be a tight fit for people with more girthy penises and bigger balls. If that’s your case, I’d suggest buying this particular ring if you are more experienced with rings.

In a nutshell: Optimale Vibrating Double Cock Ring is a fabulous silicone body-safe double cock ring I would recommend to anyone with a little bit of experience with rings. The two motors are surprisingly strong and have 10 vibration functions each. They even can be removed and used as small clitoral vibes separately. I think this cock ring is one of the best couples toys one can buy these days, especially at this price (which is the reason why several of these rings got featured in my Gift-Giving Guide).

Gift-Giving Guide: What to Get Your Partner if They Have a Vulva?

Best Sex Toys for Women

These gift-giving guides are proving to be a really hard work. Duh! But I hope they’re a helpful resource and will guide you through the tricky times of BLACK FRIDAY SALES.

Welcome to Part 2 of this shopping recommendation bonanza. Today we’re going to talk about toys for those with vulvas. Whether you’re shopping for yourself, or you’re shopping for your girlfriend, mother, sister, or wife, I am going to do my best to help you budget your purchases, as well as figure out what might be the toy that best meets your needs. Sex toys are the best gift a girl can receive, but often partners are completely clueless what to pick. If you don’t want to receive a tacky jelly rabbit vibe, maybe you can accidentally on purpose send this article to your loved ones. I’ve tested most of these toys and I’ve consulted other reviewers who have first hand experiences with them. So let me sherpa your way to the instant (well, almost, unless you are buying from a brick and mortar store) gratification that sex toy shopping can be.

All of these categories start with the lowest price, but without putting your health at risk. An important thing to try to remember when shopping for sex toys: always avoid things that look suspiciously cheap. I’ve only included body-safe options in this list, but if you wanna do your own shopping, please stick to these materials.

TRUSKYN Tru Stroke Beaded Penis Stroker Review

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke Beaded

The name of this one is going to twist your tongue: Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Platinum Silicone: The Tru Stroke Beaded. That’s way too many words for a $19 toy. Looks like Doc Johnson really wanted to convince us that this product is in fact made of silicone, because they actually put “silicone” as part of the name of the toy. They’re absolutely correct, I am not so easily convinced. Even after reading the box, the name, the explanation, and the manual thoroughly, I still wasn’t sure if this was truly a silicone product. Why? Well, because Doc Johnson is well known for trying to trick people with “silicone blends” and all sorts of questionable business practices. After reading Dangerous Lilly’s post about other products of the Truskyn line, I was finally convinced, okay, this is silicone.

Sex toy materials

Why does this matter? In a nutshell, what your sex toys are made of is hugely important, because a number of products (and entire brands!) out there are made of porous materials, or ones that contain phthalates. Phthalates or phthalate esters are found in elastomers and are actually toxic for your body, especially in contact of mucous membranes, such as the penis, or the vagina. Most toys for penises, even if they’re phthalate-free are made of porous TPE or TPR, which are soft and pleasant to the skin, and feel squishy and highly realistic. But these can trap bacteria and put your body at danger, even if you thoroughly wash your toys and don’t share them with other people. Peepshow toys, one of my favorite online sex stores, has committed to not selling any porous sex toys. That’s why they don’t have a huge collection of strokers and masturbators; but everything they have is high-quality. One of the reasons I was excited that this penis stroker is actually silicone and body-safe, was because it’s affordable and pretty easy to use and clean.

A few words about penis masturbators

Penis sex toys that create the sensation of penetrating are called masturbators, sleeves or strokers. They usually look like a tube in which a person inserts their dick. Some are open ended (so the head of the penis can peek out of it), others are closed at the end and feel more like an orifice. Another type of penis toy is one that looks like a taco (Dangerous Lilly’s metaphor that I can’t refrain from using). Some people call it a manta ray. The Tru Stroke Beaded is a taco-style toy. It doesn’t cover the penis entirely, but this allows it to fit penises of different sizes and girths in particular. One can grab it and hold their grip more strongly for more intense sensations and make it feel tighter. Another huge advantage of toys of this shape is that cleaning them is a breeze!

The Tru Stroke Beaded

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke BeadedIt’s a fairly simple toy. The texture on the inside isn’t anything mind-blowing. If you come from a world of Tenga or Fleshlights (which are fairly more expensive, and are porous), this stroker isn’t going to feel as realistic, or as enjoyable. But I think it’s unfair to compare it with these since they’re an entirely different category.

From using this toy on a male partner, I can say that this stroker is one of the most fun ones to use together. I am a huge fan of mixing activities and taking blow jobs and hand jobs to the next level. Alternating the two, using lots of lube, sucking while stroking, stroking while playing with the balls, adding some vibration on the balls. I like using penis sleeves during play-time. But a bigger and more sophisticated toy such as a Tenga Flip Hole, or a Fleshlight, or the Fun Factory Cobra Libre can be really uncomfortable for me to use on a partner (as well as for a guy to use on themselves: I don’t know if you’ve touched a Fleshlight, but these things are enormous and super heavy). So something lighter, smaller, simpler, easy to operate, or just toss around — like the Tru Stroke Beaded — brings new sensations to the table but doesn’t feel clumsy or cumbersome.

Another feature of this sleeve is that it’s not too long and actually leaves the head of the penis outside of the toy (again, that depends on the length of the cock), so it can be easily combined with a blowjob and teasing the penis head with the tongue. The open side of the toy alongside the shaft is bare too; if you have the opening at the bottom, you can lick the frenulum of the penis (that little piece of skin on the bottom where the head of the penis meets the shaft), which is really sensitive and receptive to flickering with your tongue or to vibration.

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke Beaded

The Tru Stroke Beaded stroker even comes with a storage bag and 1 oz of lube included. The lube sample has glycerin, so I’d pick a better lube from Peepshow toys (which only sell glycerin-free intimate products).

The feedback that I’ve received from my partner is that The Tru Stroke Beaded definitely feels better than just using hands for masturbation, but feels less like actually having intercourse than some penis toys. He personally is totally freaked out by “skin” tones of toys (including dildos), not to mention that the only skin tone that Doc Jonson offers is “vanilla”. But luckily, they have a red version of the toy as well. Apart from the look of the toy, he really enjoyed using it. And if you have any doubts whether a silicone masturbator is for you, don’t forget that the silicone they use has a softer and more squishy feel than regular silicone dildos do.

Tips for using the toy

Always warm up a masturbation sleeve before use. Regardless of the material, these things tend to feel cooler than body temperature (and that can spoil the mood, feel really unpleasant or even cost you your erection for a while). Putting it in a bowl of warm water does the trick, or just running some hot water from the sink over it. Always use lube with sleeves and strokers in order to avoid chafing and too much friction. It also feels more enjoyable and natural.

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke BeadedThere is no such thing as “too many” when it comes to sex toys. Feel free to use other types of toys alongside it: vibration on the balls, a cock ring, a vibrating cock ring, a butt plug, a prostate massager. The more the merrier. Adding more sensations can completely up your solo sex game.

Strokers are also great for building stamina and learning about your orgasm, when your point of no return comes, and when to slow down in order to last longer. Strokers are by no means toys just for sexually active people, and they can absolutely be used by penis-owners who are virgin to partnered sex. They’re also a great way to postpone intercourse, if you have a partner who’s not ready to have sex but you like playing together and giving each other pleasure without going all the way.

Last words

I am thrilled that there’s a new affordable stroker on the market that’s body-safe and can fit different penis-sizes. In fact, Doc Johnson even released two of these, there’s a ribbed version of this penis stroker, called The Tru Stroke Ribbed, that also retails for $19. You can get both from Peepshow Toys. I think you can’t go wrong with any of these. They’re a great way of figuring out whether you like strokers and they’re an inexpensive purchase that can give you an idea whether they bring something extra during masturbation or as part of partnered sex.

Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub Review

Chakrub Review

I wish I could capture beauty and perfection in words, and how special this product is. I wish you could evaluate it not just as a sex toy, a pleasure object, but also as an aesthetic piece of art.

If you are getting scared that this post is going to be too woo-woo for your taste, rest assured, the Chakrub is a great toy by itself. There is going to be some talk about chakras, crystals and energy. But you can stay for the pleasure bit. Stay for the shape and the design of these dildos. Stay because you want to support one-of-a-kind products, stay because you want to vote with your wallet and give your money to small businesses.

About Chakrubs

There aren’t many companies that can truly pull out the “unique” claim. Luckily this isn’t your regular adult business. Chakrubs is a small, woman-owned company, that specializes is the creation of crystal dildos, butt plugs and yoni eggs. Their products are made of White Jade (aka Rabbit Jade), Blue Aventurine, Clear Quartz, Rose Quartz, Black Obsidian, Green Aventurine (or Indian Jade), Red Jasper, or Orange Aventurine. Their dildos come in three shapes: the slim Chakrub, the thick Chakrub (the one I am reviewing), the Wand Chakrub.

Crystals and Chakras

Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub ReviewThe chakras, according to Buddhism, are energy centers in our bodies. Not our physical body, but our subtle body. There are seven major chakras and each of them has a corresponding sound, color and crystals that can heal them. Most crystals can heal more than one chakra. Some of our chakras are responsible for decision-making, clarity and feeling of determination and purpose, others for (not) feeling loved and secure, or feeling shame or guilt. For those of you who practice yoga, and/or tantra, these concepts might be very close to your heart and mind; others might read this with a dose of skepticism. I’m in no way an expert of the Chakra system, but Vanessa Cuccia, the owner of the company, explains in at length in this blog post. As everything in the world, nothing is binary or black and white, and I fall somewhat in the middle of the spectrum. I can’t say I fully understand or embrace Tantra, Chakras, or Buddhism, but I know certain practices make me feel better. Whether it’s breathing exercises, meditation, or visualization, a lot of these have their place in the bedroom and can be used for pleasure, during sex, or to reduce trauma or shame for previous experiences. In my opinion anything that works for you, even if you don’t know why and how, should be embraced (if it doesn’t harm you or others in some way, of course). Whether it’s walking in nature, listening to bird and waterfall sounds, doing yoga, getting a massage, having aroma candles, or using oils. A lot of us already have embraced in one way or another some aspect of these rituals in our everyday life, in our relaxation practices or in our partnered or solo time. And you can use your crystal dildo for way more things than just penetration. You can just hold the crystal close to you, you can have it at your work space, where you meditate, or in your bed. You can put it under your pillow. You can carry it with you for protection from negative energy. And the thick Chakrub might be a good self-defense tool as well!

Why Crystals? (Besides Chakras and Buddhism)

Crystals are body-safe. Making crystal dildos doesn’t harm the environment. Using them doesn’t harm your body. They’re non-porous, one of a kind, aesthetic and beautiful. They transfer and keep temperature in unique ways. They’re heavy and great for creating a feeling of fullness, pressure and weight in your body (the same way we love our stainless steel Njoy products). They don’t use batteries or power, all you will ever need is your product. They’re arguably the first thing early humans have used for self-pleasure. You know these questions about what you’d take with you if your plane crashes on an island? Chances are that the island in the middle of nowhere isn’t gonna have electricity. So in deserted island scenario you can always rely on a durable material that only needs your hands to operate it. Okay, all joking aside: stone dildos feel really differently from silicone, metals or even glass. They’re great for massages. And they’re beautiful. That’s a F.A.C.T.

Getting Your Chakrub

Besides clearly choosing the right shape for your needs — thicker or slimmer, direct g-spot stimulation or not — you might want to read the description of the different stones the dildos are made of. Chakrubs have a very comprehensive guide to the benefits of each crystal. You will receive your package beautifully wrapped with a personal letter with a seal. It includes instructions about taking care of your crystal, cleaning it and getting to know it. Making it yours. Getting acquainted with its energy and how it makes you feel. Getting it on the same wavelength as you are, so to speak. The dildo itself comes in a gorgeous lace and satin storage wrap that I just can’t take my eyes off.

What Is It Like?

Chakrubs Dildo ReviewI got the Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub. It’s a white stone, also known as white jasper, that I absolutely love. It helps you achieve inner peace, focus and clarity, feel purified. Just looking at it makes me feel peaceful and more in harmony. It’s almost one pound heavy, which is something that I appreciate these days. A lot of us have come to love heavier toys because contrary to what you might think they require less effort to move and stimulate pleasure zones. Their weight kind of does the job for you. The shape of the big Chakrub is that of an extra elongated tear drop. It’s smooth on both ends, so it can be used as a double ended dildo. Using the pointy side is great for a-spot (deep spot, cervical) stimulation, while the thicker part is fabulous for feeling full. It provides good g-spot pressure, even though it doesn’t have a g-spot curve. If you need to get an idea about it’s size: when measured flat it’s 7” long and goes from 1″ to 1.75” wide. It has a circumference of 3.5″ at the small end and 5.25″ at the large end.

You will need to warm up your stone (glass, metal) dildo before using it. Just have some running water of a temperature that feels pleasant on your body, the kind of water you will use to shower or take a bath with, or just slightly warmer. If you are in the middle of something and can’t get to water or you don’t want to interrupt your play, just warm the crystal up with your body. Have it on your belly, on your chest. The Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub has no drag to it. The material is really smooth and you only need a little bit of lubrication in order to slide it inside of you. The warmth is going to bring extra circulation and it’s going to feel much better and different from silicone toys. Thrusting it in and out or applying pressure to particular pleasure zones is really easy with a toy of this size and weight.

Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub Review

Because of its girth and ability to keep temperature, the Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub has become one of my favorite dildos. It’s such a simple but genius shape that really works with this particular material. Using it makes me feel truly special and taken care of. Definitely not your regular commercial dildo.

The prices of these beauties vary based on the price of the crystal they’re made of. The Rabbit Jade Thick Chakrub sells for $169, which is roughly the price of most of their thicker dildos, and their slimmer ones go for around $115. They’re absolutely worth it!

Note that these dildos are not safe for anal play and they’re not harness compatible. If you want to explore some butt play, try out their plugs.

Njoy Fun Wand Review

Njoy Fun Wand Double Ended Stainless Steel Dildo

Njoy Fun Wand is an unfortunately overlooked and underestimated toy! It’s been overshadowed by it’s bigger and notorious siblings: the Njoy Pure Wand and the monstrous Njoy Eleven. Yet it has a huge potential to it and might be a better choice for a lot of people (or a good addition to your Njoy family portrait).

Brand

What is Njoy and why are you talking about it as if we’re supposed to know what it is? Good question! There aren’t stupid questions and usually I am one of the last people to get the memo. Njoy is an American brand that specializes in stainless steel dildos and butt plugs. They feature only a small number of toys. Their dildos are double ended, so they offer a good range of different sensations. They’re an investment in your sex life and in yourself because they’re going to last forever. They don’t have batteries or any electronics and they’re made of steel, so they’re never going to deform. Steel, really?! For a sex toy?! This might not sound sexy at first, but believe me: it is! Why is metal sexy? Because it’s perfectly sleek and smooth, it has no drag to it, it slides really pleasantly, even with a tiny bit of lube. And there’s something both luxurious and bad-ass about it.

What’s that Pure Wand you’re talking about? It’s another double ended dildo by Njoy that you might have probably seen in porn. It got famous for making women squirt. What about the Eleven? It’s a 3 lb 11″ long beast. Need I say more? So you see why the Fun Wand has it tough? It simply has a couple of over-achieving siblings to compete with.

Shape

dscn2726The Fun Wand is certainly the most versatile toy Njoy offers. Scratch that, it’s one of the most versatile toys EVER. It’s a double ended dildo that is great for g-spot stimulation, prostate play, and all adventures anal or vaginal. You can share it with your partner, and you can safely switch orifices. It’s S-shaped and it curves this way by design (opposite to the Pure Wand). Doug, the creator of Njoy, wanted it to curve downwards, so while the topping partner is pleasing the receiver, they can also worship them orally. How cool is that? And if you think about it, it’s impossible to be thrusting inside with the Pure Wand and give cunnilingus at the same time. Even using a clitoral vibe isn’t easy-peasy. The Fun allows all that!

One of the ends is smooth and only has a 1″ thick bulb at the end, which is really cool for working the g-spot. This end is as thick as the slimmer end of the Pure Wand and I know a number of people who prefer it. Not everyone is a size queen, you know. Sometimes bigger isn’t better. That same end is great for p-spot stimulation too, without being too big or intimidating in size, if your man isn’t super advanced with anal toys (1″ is as thick as the smallest of the Njoy butt plugs).

The other side is beady, progressing from 0,75″ to 1″ at its widest. Which makes the two smaller beads the smallest Njoy insertables. The small Pure Plug by Njoy has 1″ in girth, so if you or your honey are newbie-newbie to anal play, this is a perfect toy for you. The beads feel fantastic and the curve follows your anatomy perfectly.

What is great about this shape is that it makes it really easy to play with your own bum. The end that will be sticking out is like a little tail or a handle that you can use to thrust in and out or to work your own ass or prostate. Which can be orgasmic, even for women. It’s so easy that you can do it with one hand (reaching back and operating the toy by the handle) and still have your other hand free for using a clit or vag toy, or for stroking your penis.

Didn’t I say it was versatile?

Njoy Fun Wand Double Ended Stainless Steel Dildo

Material

It’s made of the same quality stainless steel found in Njoy products, and it will last you a lifetime. At the same time it’s literally half the weight of the Pure Wand: Fun is only 12 oz or 340 grams, while Pure is 1.5 lb or 680 grams. That is a lot for many people, and the Fun wand comes to the rescue. Even if you already own and love your Pure Wand, you might want to get a Fun Wand just for your travels.

The toy is a joy to maintain. It can be used with every kind of lube: water, silicone or oil-based and is entirely non-porous. So simple soap and water are enough to clean it but if you want to switch from the back to the front door, you will need to soak it in 10% bleach solution or boil it for 5-10 min.

Applications and Use

dscn2679-copy

As I said, it’s delicious for all bodies and can be used for a number of things. One of its amazing qualities is the way it holds temperature. It’s great for temperature play. Warming it up with hot water running from your sink will help with blood circulation and arousal. That turned out to be applicable to butt play too: until I tried Njoy products anally, I didn’t know how wonderful temperature play would feel in there. It will help you relax, open up, and enjoy it more. Even if you don’t necessarily warm it up, it will adjust better to the body temperature and feel really pleasant inside.

How does one play with the g-spot? Simply lubricate and insert the the single bulb end in the vagina. That side of the toy should be facing up: the toy should curve inside towards the belly or the front wall of the vagina. You can add extra pressure on the pubic mound by placing your palm and stimulating the g-spot from outside. By doing this you should be able to feel the head of the toy through the abdomen. But don’t get worried if you don’t, this might not be as pronounced for every woman. Ask your girl for feedback. The g-spot is typically 1.5-2″ from the vaginal opening, so you don’t need a very deep penetration in order to stimulate it. You will feel the toy securely locked or hooked behind the pubic bone. Try moving the toy just sliiightly in and out, or just move it around or “rock it. Try small movements with your wrist while holding the toy; you don’t need a whole lot more.

Last Words

This isn’t a toy for size queens or super advanced anal enthusiasts. It’s very newbie friendly and can be a really good first toy not just for one of the partners, but for both of them. It’s much less girthy but equally exciting as the Pure wand. If you are looking for a 3 in 1 toy (g-spot, p-spot, anal beads) or for something of the same quality as your bigger Njoys, but lighter and more portable, you found your match. It’s also much less of a clit or vulva-blocker. You can enjoy oral sex while being stimulated with the toy because it curves towards your bum, not towards your belly.

The Fun Wand comes in the same luxurious box as all other products from the line, and nobody can ever guess it’s a sex toy. It’s pure artwork. If my pictures don’t prove it, I don’t know what will. You can get it for a little less than $100 and with free shipping from Njoy Toys, Good Vibrations, SheVibe, Peepshowtoys, Lovehoney or Babeland [no free shipping]. In Canada: from Come as You Are; in the UK, Australia or internationally: from Lovehoney.

Njoy Pure wand was a generous present from NJOY as a sponsor gift of Sex Geek Summer Camp 2016.

B-Vibe Trio Plug Review

b-Vibe Trio Plug

b-Vibe Trio Plug

I am just gonna say one thing. Three independent, powerful motors. In one butt plug. Yes, I AM serious! Lo and behold: the Trio Plug from b-Vibe. It absolutely blew my mind (and my body).

You already know how much I love the Rimming Plug. It’s a pretty darn delicious thing to have in your bum. So when I saw the b-Vibe stand at yet another sex conference I was attending, and they have already launched their new model, I couldn’t resist the urge to immediately order it. When you have a team of sex educators behind a line of products, you don’t think twice. Even if you already own enough butt plugs for a lifetime. (Or so I thought!)

The Product

I am going to repeat myself while listing the features of this awesome plug, because in that respect, it’s almost identical to the Rimming Plug. It’s made of 100% body-safe non-porous silicone, which is exquisite to touch: velvety, matte and completely seamless. It has almost no drag to it and feels really good against your skin. It’s a rechargeable vibrating plug, which takes up to 2.5 hrs to charge completely in exchange for at least an hour of play (the motors a pretty strong and there’s only so much space for the battery in a small little plug). Of course, if you’re not jamming it up on full speed, it will last longer. You can even plug it in in the USB port, which is a very handy feature these days, with all the USB splitters around us and the constant lookout for a power outlet. The Trio Plug is shower-proof, easy to clean and safe to share with partners, when sanitized. I think this is a pretty important feature for this particular plug, because it’s much smaller than the Rimming Plug, ergo it’s much more beginner’s friendly and non-intimidating in size. What I mean by that is: it might be a good toy for your hubby (or sweetheart, or hook-up, or … you fill in the blanks) to start exploring butt and prostate play. One plug for all works just swell, when your toy is high-quality and won’t transmit or re-introduce infections. Dope!

Let’s talk about noise. It’s nearly silent on its lower settings, especially when inserted. When you get to the strongest vibrations, things get a little louder, but it’s still manageable to cover it up in a louder bar or public space.

The Remote

b-Vibe Trio PlugI can’t emphasize enough that the remote actually works. Not just works, but works within 30 ft! I tried it from the other part of the apartment (two rooms and several walls away), and it does its magic! It’s human-friendly, meaning that the interaction with it doesn’t make you want to scream into a pillow, pairs up immediately, controls the toy with no delay, looks really cool, and has easy to understand buttons. It even has a travel lock (just press the + and the – simultaneously and your toy won’t go off in the middle of your TSA security screening). Not that you need the travel lock that much, given that the plug comes with an awesome travel case, and it’s near to impossible for it to get turned on accidentally. But in case you just threw the toy and the remote in your purse, b-Vibe has your back. And butt for that matter (wink).

You can use the plug even without the remote, but the remote makes it really easy to control the speed/power. To pair the plug with the remote, you just need to press the power button at the bottom of the base. It will start blinking and your remote is connected (you have to first open the remote’s battery compartment and pull out the little protection that the battery has). From this point on you can go at yourself, or even hand the control over to your partner. It’s really convenient that you don’t have to reach back and press anything on the plug in order to change speeds or patterns.

The remote’s made of white plastic and silicone matching the color of your plug. The only difference between the remote of the Rimming plug is that it only has 3 buttons: plus, minus and the pattern, it doesn’t have the one for the rotating beads. So even if you order your Trio in the same color as your Rimming Plug, you’ll still be able to differentiate between the two. For the sake of it, I tried to see if I can use the Rimming Remote on the Trio Plug and vice-versa (at least the options that overlap), and it doesn’t work. Which is cool, because you can actually use both at once, without messing up which controls what. For instance you can have the Rimming Plug in your butt, while your sweetheart is enjoying the Trio, and the signals won’t get confused. Think how cool that is for threesomes, group activities, etc. The more plugs, the merrier. And the more people, the merrier.

Dimensions

The Trio Plug is much smaller than The Rimming Plug (Want to read my review of it? Find it here!). If you are just reading the specifications, you wouldn’t think so, but if you take a look at this image from the b-Vibe website you can clearly see how much slimmer the Trio is. If you want me to toss around numbers: it has an insertable size of 4.3” / 11 cm and is 1.25” / 3 cm wide at its widest. This would place it somewhere between beginner-friendly and intermediate. It starts off really thin, the tip is as big as a finger. You can check this out for an idea: my fingers are very small and slim. It’s so much easier to walk around with, or to sit while wearing it, than with the Rimming Plug. I definitely see this one as a good toy for an outing. The base is smaller than the one of the Rimming plug and gets in the way much less frequently. It makes using it while having intercourse much less of a challenge. If you have a short space between the entrance of your vagina and your anus, try rotating the base sideways, so it’s even more out of the way.

Power and Patterns

Here comes the best part. It has 8 vibration levels and 9 patterns, which are all comprehensively explained in the manual. The patterns are revolutionary: they cascade from motor to motor, pulsate, oscillate… It’s like an amusement park for your bum. It’s just… RAD. I never thought my butt could be further impressed and that I would get to experience anything new and extraordinary at this point in life, but I stand corrected.

Using It

b-Vibe Trio PlugI never suspected I can cum from a butt toy, especially from a… plug. Without even doing anything, not even thrusting in and out. Just from having the plug in. You simply place it, turn it on, breathe deeply, squeeze your PC muscles, clench and relax, clench and relax. And voila! You just came. Just like that! And if you add some clitoral vibration (the Doxy on your clit makes for a great combo), while having the Trio buzzing joyfully inside of you, that will really rock your world. It’s better than vaginal penetration + clit vibration. It’s a whole new world of orgasms, uncontrollable, unstoppable…

Just keep in mind that while cumming, especially when the plug is well lubed, it might slip out, because of your convulsions while having an orgasm. It’s not that big of a deal, because the plug stays under other circumstances. I personally shoot out everything outside of me, even vaginally, when I cum. That’s how hard I clench, but that’s just me, your body and orgasms could be different.

Unusual Applications

Powerful uncontrollable orgasms? Hence the BDSM possibilities that this plug offers. Not just because it can be operated from distance or by someone else, but because you can use it for forced orgasm.

And last but not least, it’s a pretty decent clit vibe if I have to be honest. The motors are so strong and so pleasant that I had to try the plug against my clit. Using it on the first possible setting, which has only the motor at the tip on, is ideal for pinpointed clit vibrations. And it’s easy to hold, and it’s soooo rumbly! It’s even great as an overall vulva vibe (vulva being the umbrella term for all the external genitalia: the labia minora and majora and the clit, not to be confused with vagina, which is your orifice). Because it has the three independent motors and patterns that wave from one motor to the other, it can give you sensations that don’t really compare to anything else out there. And of course, you can use it as a vag plug, especially if you like (to try) vibration at your vaginal opening. Just have fun and try different things out.

Sigh… I so wish b-Vibe started making vaginal and clitoral toys. But that will defeat their name (b for butt), I know, I know. They should have sister company then! Ha!

Packaging

Trio comes in the same awesome box and travel case as the Rimming Plug. Only this time the color scheme is different. With the old one we had a sage & black theme: those were the two color options for the plug, while the travel case came only in sage. This time it’s purple & black. The product box is purple, while the travel case is black, even if you get a purple plug.

How to Have Kinky Sex on The Road

In case you missed my bragging about it, I spent the best part of my summer at Sex Geek Summer Camp with Reid Mihalko and a whole bunch of amazing Sex Geeks.

What made camp such an unforgettable experience for me was having the opportunity to work and exchange ideas with other inspiring sex educators, coaches and counselors. Here is the love-child of one of these interactions. When I heard that Kat Nantz (Sexual Empowerment Coach from Guelph, Ontario) had spent 6 months in a camper, crossing the United States with her boyfriend, and that they didn’t have to sacrifice their hot and kinky sex life, I had to hear more about it.

Find out how to make your own solar panel and plug in your Hitachi Magic Wand or recharge your toys on the go, how to do bondage and enjoy rope play even if you are confined to a small RV. Learn why taking Uberlube with you is a must, how to practice safer sex, how to have your toys clean and sterile, how to know your STI status even if you’re thousands of miles away from your health provider, and more in this fun and candid video.

And if you have SEX GEEK t-shirt envy, just get over with it and order yours already.

Does it really matter what your sex toys are made of? You bet.

Perhaps you are tired of ads and labels trying to tell you that their product is the best, made of safe, organic, responsible, good-for-you, touched-by-a-magical-fairy materials. Everything nowadays is USDA organic, everything is the purest. Or maybe you are simply tired of marketing trying to scare you. Being told that you’re going eventually have cancer, or get whatever disease, or experience this and that negative effect if you keep eating, buying or using what you’ve been having so far isn’t everybody’s favorite topic. First, because we think that whoever is saying that their product is good, healthy or safe is lying. And second, because we don’t want to be scared, finding out that what we’ve been using until today has actually been really bad for us. I can understand why this topic can be tricky and why people are pushing back from the hippy-dippy wave. I totally get the: “If I hear the phrase locally-grown heirloom tomatoes once more I am gonna scream into a pillow”.

Well, I am a sex educator. And as such, I want to make sure that you’re not gonna make the same decisions I made a couple of years ago, due to lack of knowledge and enough information. What am I talking about? Yes, I too used to have a lot of cheap sex toys. I too thought that I could save some money and that I didn’t need silicone, for instance. I too ended up spending actually more, because of trying to be cheap, than what I would’ve spent if I knew better. I am going to soon write an article about how to get inexpensive and affordable sex toys, which are still body-safe, non-porous and good for you, but let’s start with A-B-C and find out why do you in fact need to buy toys made of one of the following materials.

body-safe silicone sex toys

(Please clear your cookies before clicking on any of my links to retailers. By doing that you are helping me support this blog at no additional cost to you.)

Silicone

Ahhh, the silicone. How could I not start the list with it? Silicone is the emperor of body-safe materials. It has a certain amount of flexibility and is a great material for anything you can think of: dildos, vibrators, cock rings, butt plugs. These days more and more companies are offering silicone sex toys. You can have it in all imaginable colors and different finishes. It can be glossy and shiny, or matte, more squishy, or really hard (most vibes or toys that have some mechanics in them have barely any to absolutely no give or flexibility, even if they’re covered with silicone). You can boil it, or use a 10% bleach solution for sanitizing it. If you are not sharing it with other partners, simply washing with a toy cleaner or soap after using it is enough. But even if you can’t wash it right away, it’s not gonna harbor any bacteria. No need to store it separately in a bag or a pouch. It doesn’t get too cold, it usually has a very comfortable temperature. And it’s not too heavy. What more to ask for? Its only downside is that used anally it can keep some remaining smell, which will take time for you to get rid of (a post about that coming soon too). Think of silicone ice trays: if you put coffee in them, they’re gonna smell of coffee.

Trusted brands: for dildos: Tantus (US based), G-silicone aka Godemiche (UK based), Vixen Creations, Vamp Silicone, FunkIt Toys, Frisky Beast, Bad Dragon. Stores like Good Vibrations, Lovehoney, and The Pleasure Chest have their own lines of silicone toys as well. For vibrators and anal toys: Lelo, We-Vibe, Fun Factory, Je Joue, JimmyJane, Jopen, OhMiBod, Leaf, PicoBong, L’Amourose, B-vibe, Nexus, Aneros

Stainless Steel

stainless steel sex toysAmazing high-end material, that’s going to outlive you. These toys are just insertables, they don’t have motors. There are the dildos and the double ended toys, and of course, the butt plugs. A lot of BDSM gear is made of steel: cages, some parts of restraint and bondage systems, even penis plugs. It’s a heavy material, which makes your toy not the most travel-friendly. On the other hand, it’s great for temperature play. You can run some warm water and have your toys slightly hotter than your body temperature. It feels mind-blowing and is great for arousal and blood circulation. It’s amazingly easy to clean and it doesn’t hold any smells.

Trusted brands: Njoy, Pretty Plugs

Aluminum

Aluminum has similar qualities to steel, but is lighter and in general cheaper.

Trusted brands: Crowned Jewels, Tantus Alumina series

Glass

Glass toys are pretty awesome for temperature play too. You can’t put them in boiling water for sanitizing purposes, but you can use them for temperature play: use warm running water, or a bowl. Or leave them in the fridge. They can look really beautiful and usually have cool designs. The good brands offer really strong glass that is most likely not going to break even if you drop it. Avoid cheap glass toys under $50. Don’t buy glass butt plugs with loops at the end and handles. They can break even while using them. If you want a glass toy but are not able to afford a high-end one, stick to clear glass (avoid colorful glass toys, because in cheap toys the color is usually achieved with some questionable polish or finish that starts chipping off; it’s not an actual colored glass). All glass toys are quite heavy and generally fragile, making them poor travel companions.

Trusted brands: Fucking Sculptures, Crystal Delights, Luscious Playthings, Standard Glass, Simply Blown

Wood

If you take good care of your wooden sex toys, they’re gonna last you a lifetime. They’re light and environmentally friendly. What makes quality wooden toys expensive is that they’re hand-made and the finish that’s used on them is medical grade. Anything else will start cracking or the wood will swell after washing several times.

Trusted brand: NobEssence

ABS plastic

It’s rare these days to find toys entirely made of ABS plastic. Usually bullet vibes, such as the We-Vibe Tango, are made of plastic. What’s most common is that the handle and the controls of silicone vibes are made of plastic. Vibrators by Lelo are a good example of that. Plastic is absolutely hard and usually shiny.

Crystals and stone

These days there are more and more dildos, anal plugs and vaginal eggs made of granite, onyx, jade and other stones or crystals. They’re widely used in Tantra practices. Toys made of these materials are really heavy and are usually expensive.

Trusted brands: Chakrubs, Laid

On the other hand

Toys made of the above materials are not just body-safe, but they’re non-porous as well. Which means that they will not harbor bacteria that lead to infections. No amount of washing, cleaning, disinfecting, or soaking in bleach solution will remove what’s stuck on your toys if they’re porous. A lot of porous toys contain phthalates and plasticizers that are highly toxic. They can cause irritation, toxic-shock syndrome, chemical burn, and bacterial vaginosis. Even if you’re not experiencing these symptoms or anything unusual, your toys will start deforming and smelling really foul. It’s highly recommended that you toss them away after a year, and that you use condoms with them. So really, if you do the math (even just the cost of condoms), it’s really not worth it in the long run. Not to mention the medical issues associated with nasty infections.

Warranty

All of the above brands have at least 1 year warranty. With rubber and jelly toys you never get that because they usually fall apart much faster.

What to avoid

Avoid toys made of: TPR, TPE (thermoplastic Elastomer), rubber, jelly, elastomers.

The emotional side

Cheaper and low-quality toys can mess with your head and emotions too. They often come in repulsive and superficial packaging that can make you feel dirty (not in a good way), and even put you off sex or off buying a sex toy for a while. Why would you get something that makes you feel disgusted by yourself?

How to get it right every time

body-safe silicone sex toysOkay, I get it. A lot of people don’t really care what their toys are made of. Reading one more label: no way! So I am going to make it really simple for you. One way of making sure that a toy is body-safe is to consider the manufacturer and/or retailer. If a toy is made by a trusted and reputable brand, that’s been known for making body-safe premium toys, you aren’t gonna get it wrong. But many of these brands have their cheap replicas and counterfeits in places like eBay, AliBaba or AliExpress. Amazon is flooded with crappy fakes too. Another way to make sure you are getting the real deal is by always shopping from the manufacturer or a good sex shop. Take a look at my directory of reputable retailers. Most of these stores will not even carry jelly and rubber toys. Or will be very clear about it. Unfortunately, Lovehoney still has a ton of non body-friendly materials. But at least they will never call “silicone” something that is not.

What about men?

Unfortunately, most “male” sex toys, such as masturbators, strokers, masturbation and stamina sleeves are made of TPE or some kind of elastomers. I would recommend sticking to brands such as Tenga or Fleshlight, taking good care of your toys and getting rid of them after one year of use. Luckily, Bad Dragon is offering penetrable toys made of silicone. One thing about them is that they design fantasy toys; so don’t expect the realism you will get from Fleshlight. I personally think it’s less creepy to go with a fantasy toy or with some of the futuristic Tenga designs, than with a weird looking sleeve that has a mouth, a vulva or an anus at the end, but that’s just my own preference, as a non-penis owner. Just as I don’t really like “female” sex toys that are too realistic and resemble a penis too much. Inexpensive body-safe masturbators I can recommend are the Tenga Eggs. Quick tip about sleeves and masturbators: soak them in warm water before use. You don’t want to put your penis in something even slightly cooler than body temperature.

Last words

silicone body-safe toysI certainly understand the appeal of cheap toys and feeling that you are getting so much for so little. Everyone loves a bargain. Being able to grab several things and still have your total under $100 is a call I couldn’t resist for a while too. Until I was able to compare quality sex toys made by Lelo and some cheap jelly deals that I’d bought in the lonely nights of a long-distance relationship. When the toxic toys started smelling weird, getting sticky and melting next to each other I had to throw them all away, not long after purchasing them. If I had to put together all the weird crap that I’ve “invested” in, now I can easily see that I ended up spending what could’ve gotten me several good quality toys. What you put next to or inside your private parts is really, really important. As important as what you eat. Don’t overlook what you’re using for your pleasure, and don’t be missing out on the pleasure you can have. Good companies invest in research, innovation and design. And the products that you’re buying from them will bring you much more satisfaction. Believe me! You deserve it.

If you ever have questions or doubts about particular toys, don’t hesitate to ask me. If I don’t know the answer, I will research the brand and the manufacturer, and will give you guidelines on how to be able to tell what’s what.
