B-Vibe Novice Plug Review

B-Vibe Novice, Trio and Rimming Plugs

Sex bloggers and toy reviewers have weird (to the outside world) goals in life. Trying out all Sliquid lubricants and owning the whole range of Njoy stainless steel toys can often be seen on sex geeks’ bucket lists. So you might think that trying out all b-Vibe butt plugs was among my sex toy goals. Funnily, I wasn’t purposefully trying to achieve this, it happened just like that. I was really impressed with b-Vibe’s first two models and I purchased them right away, as they came out. I am a sex educator and blogger who’s really involved and close to the community, and I often attends professional events. I got my Rimming Plug in April, at a sexuality conference, and funnily enough b-Vibe was exhibiting again in August — at an entirely different sex-positive conference organized by the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Foundation. This time around they had just launched the Trio Plug.

I really like companies that are engaged in meeting toy reviewers, getting their feedback, who attend sexuality events, and have an actual physical presence. They’ve donated prizes for raffles that were raising funds for organizations, they run an anal sex expert advice blog on their website, and their marketing is really inclusive. Each of their products brings innovation to the table and they’re truly trying to normalize butt play and educate people on how to have pleasant enjoyable experiences. Needless to say, I had to get each of their products.

Anal pleasure, depression and I

b-vibe Novice PlugOne of the reasons I so passionately started reviewing anal toys and exploring more and more butt play in my partnered and solo sex, was because I was experiencing difficulties climaxing from genital play. I’ve been taking SSRIs, a class of antidepressants that’s highly effective and most commonly prescribed, but often makes people experience sexual side effects, some of which are: decreased libido, reduced sensation in the genitalia and anorgasmia. In other words, I couldn’t come the ways I would normally come before the pills – from vaginal intercourse and combined with clitoral vibration.

Anal sex and butt toys opened new doors to pleasure and different sensations for me, someone who thought knew their own sexuality and pleasure response. Anal play is now a really vital part of my sex life. And I wish more people gave it credit and acknowledged how strong and delightful pleasure from butt stuff can be.

When it comes to butt play and toys there’s a vicious circle. Often sex toy companies are trying to promote it and invite people to explore it, but there are rarely beginners’ friendly anal toys. That only reinforces the myth that anal play is only for hard-core kinksters, men who have sex with men or some sort of advanced sex freaks. It reinforces the taboo and makes people think that this isn’t something for them. That it isn’t something that the average person could and should explore.

Enter b-Vibe Novice. Finally a premium brand that acknowledges that people have different needs and released a super newbie friendly high-quality anal plug.

What does Novice have to offer?

The Novice shares all of the b-Vibe previous selling points, such as: super soft and nice to touch body-safe seamless silicone. A rechargeable battery and a magnetic charger that actually holds onto the toy really tight and never stops charging it, a battery life of at least an hours of play on maximum speed. Not to forget the key feature of the plug — a remote control, which works up to 30 ft away! Did I mention the cool storage case, that looks super swanky and hi-tech?The Novice plug has 6 vibration levels and 15 vibration patters, which can be controlled independently with the help of the remote. This makes the plug really versatile and allows it to bring novelty to your butt play even if you get used to its size. The remote makes things just easy. Instead of having to reach back, and try to figure out buttons, you can be focused on the sensation and browse through the speeds and patterns. But it also makes a great tool for power play and public play. If you like (or have fantasized about) going out while wearing a vibrating vaginal egg, but you’ve always wanted to try that same thing with a plug too, the Novice is your best pick.

The Novice is just really comfortable to wear and use for longer periods. It has a flexible neck and a really small base (significantly smaller than the base of the Trio plug). It only holds one motor, but it’s very strong and quiet for the size of the toy. When placed inside, the Novice is practically silent.

So how beginner friendly is it?

b-Vibe Novice

The Novice has a diameter of 1″ or 2.5 cm, and has an insertable portion of 3″. So far I’ve used the plug on two partners, one penis-owner, and one vagina-owner, both of which were complete newbies to anal play. While one has only had a finger in their ass once, the other hasn’t had any sort of anal penetration, even with a pinkie. And I can happily report that taking things slow, turning them on, using enough longer-lasting water-based lube, such as Sutil or Sliquid Sassy, worked like magic. They could take the entire plug and actually really enjoy it, completely pain free. You are absolutely encouraged to take your time and just take portions of the plug the first several times.

How are the three models different?

b-Vibe Plugs

The line now consists of a small, medium and large plugs. And each of them has something different to offer. The Novice has one motor, but features 6 speeds and 15 patters. The Trio has three motors with 8 speeds and 9 patters. And the Rimming plug has one vibrating motor and one rotating one — the beads in the neck, with 6 speeds and 6 patterns.

Tips for beginners anal play

b-Vibe Novice PlugHere are a couple of basic recommendations to follow and keep in mind when exploring butt play for the first time. You should always have plenty of time and not rush through it. Block off good two hours for the first time you want to do any backdoor experiments. Get yourself a good glycerin-free water based lube. Use plenty of it during the session. Start with things that you normally like and get sufficiently turned-on by. Maybe even have one orgasm before taking anything inside of your ass (especially good advice for vulva-owners). Breathe slowly and relax completely. Start with a massage on the butt cheeks and around the butt-hole. Then by pointing the butt plug with 45 degrees angle – facing slightly upwards or downwards, not completely straight into the anus, start slowly inserting the well-lubricated tip of the plug while inhaling. You can turn on the vibration if that feels good, or just use it without any vibration for the first couple of time, if you just want to relax and enjoy the penetration. Often combining the insertion of the plug with genital play can make things much more easy, but you can always add that after the plug is completely inserted.

Once the plug is inside, let it stay put (unless it’s really uncomfortable and you want to take it out right away). Continue playing and enjoying other things. You can have vaginal intercourse while wearing the plug, you can give and/or receive oral sex, or you can simply place a vibe on your clit, balls, genitalia. Always wear the plug for short periods of time for the first couple of times, and build up to longer and longer wear.

When you remove the plug, take things as slowly as you did when you put the plug inside. Exhale deeply and loudly as you remove it, this will relax the muscles in a way that will make the removal of the plug much easier and more comfortable.

Where to get it

b-Vibe PlugsThe Novice plug has just been released by b-Vibe and right now you can only order it from their website in black or fuchsia. The Novice will hit the stores in Jan most likely and you will be able to find it at Good Vibrations, Babeland, The Pleasure Chest, Shevibe and other stores. It sells for $130. Which is a lot, but if you compare it with a good clitoral vibrator by a premium brand, it actually makes a lot of sense. The price is similar to these products and in exchange you get a travel case, a remote control and 1 year warranty.

My readers can get 20% off of the Novice from b-Vibe until Jan 1st. Discount applies only for the product, not the shipping. Use code WETLAND

B-Vibe Trio Plug Review

b-Vibe Trio Plug

b-Vibe Trio Plug

I am just gonna say one thing. Three independent, powerful motors. In one butt plug. Yes, I AM serious! Lo and behold: the Trio Plug from b-Vibe. It absolutely blew my mind (and my body).

You already know how much I love the Rimming Plug. It’s a pretty darn delicious thing to have in your bum. So when I saw the b-Vibe stand at yet another sex conference I was attending, and they have already launched their new model, I couldn’t resist the urge to immediately order it. When you have a team of sex educators behind a line of products, you don’t think twice. Even if you already own enough butt plugs for a lifetime. (Or so I thought!)

The Product

I am going to repeat myself while listing the features of this awesome plug, because in that respect, it’s almost identical to the Rimming Plug. It’s made of 100% body-safe non-porous silicone, which is exquisite to touch: velvety, matte and completely seamless. It has almost no drag to it and feels really good against your skin. It’s a rechargeable vibrating plug, which takes up to 2.5 hrs to charge completely in exchange for at least an hour of play (the motors a pretty strong and there’s only so much space for the battery in a small little plug). Of course, if you’re not jamming it up on full speed, it will last longer. You can even plug it in in the USB port, which is a very handy feature these days, with all the USB splitters around us and the constant lookout for a power outlet. The Trio Plug is shower-proof, easy to clean and safe to share with partners, when sanitized. I think this is a pretty important feature for this particular plug, because it’s much smaller than the Rimming Plug, ergo it’s much more beginner’s friendly and non-intimidating in size. What I mean by that is: it might be a good toy for your hubby (or sweetheart, or hook-up, or … you fill in the blanks) to start exploring butt and prostate play. One plug for all works just swell, when your toy is high-quality and won’t transmit or re-introduce infections. Dope!

Let’s talk about noise. It’s nearly silent on its lower settings, especially when inserted. When you get to the strongest vibrations, things get a little louder, but it’s still manageable to cover it up in a louder bar or public space.

The Remote

b-Vibe Trio PlugI can’t emphasize enough that the remote actually works. Not just works, but works within 30 ft! I tried it from the other part of the apartment (two rooms and several walls away), and it does its magic! It’s human-friendly, meaning that the interaction with it doesn’t make you want to scream into a pillow, pairs up immediately, controls the toy with no delay, looks really cool, and has easy to understand buttons. It even has a travel lock (just press the + and the – simultaneously and your toy won’t go off in the middle of your TSA security screening). Not that you need the travel lock that much, given that the plug comes with an awesome travel case, and it’s near to impossible for it to get turned on accidentally. But in case you just threw the toy and the remote in your purse, b-Vibe has your back. And butt for that matter (wink).

You can use the plug even without the remote, but the remote makes it really easy to control the speed/power. To pair the plug with the remote, you just need to press the power button at the bottom of the base. It will start blinking and your remote is connected (you have to first open the remote’s battery compartment and pull out the little protection that the battery has). From this point on you can go at yourself, or even hand the control over to your partner. It’s really convenient that you don’t have to reach back and press anything on the plug in order to change speeds or patterns.

The remote’s made of white plastic and silicone matching the color of your plug. The only difference between the remote of the Rimming plug is that it only has 3 buttons: plus, minus and the pattern, it doesn’t have the one for the rotating beads. So even if you order your Trio in the same color as your Rimming Plug, you’ll still be able to differentiate between the two. For the sake of it, I tried to see if I can use the Rimming Remote on the Trio Plug and vice-versa (at least the options that overlap), and it doesn’t work. Which is cool, because you can actually use both at once, without messing up which controls what. For instance you can have the Rimming Plug in your butt, while your sweetheart is enjoying the Trio, and the signals won’t get confused. Think how cool that is for threesomes, group activities, etc. The more plugs, the merrier. And the more people, the merrier.

Dimensions

The Trio Plug is much smaller than The Rimming Plug (Want to read my review of it? Find it here!). If you are just reading the specifications, you wouldn’t think so, but if you take a look at this image from the b-Vibe website you can clearly see how much slimmer the Trio is. If you want me to toss around numbers: it has an insertable size of 4.3” / 11 cm and is 1.25” / 3 cm wide at its widest. This would place it somewhere between beginner-friendly and intermediate. It starts off really thin, the tip is as big as a finger. You can check this out for an idea: my fingers are very small and slim. It’s so much easier to walk around with, or to sit while wearing it, than with the Rimming Plug. I definitely see this one as a good toy for an outing. The base is smaller than the one of the Rimming plug and gets in the way much less frequently. It makes using it while having intercourse much less of a challenge. If you have a short space between the entrance of your vagina and your anus, try rotating the base sideways, so it’s even more out of the way.

Power and Patterns

Here comes the best part. It has 8 vibration levels and 9 patterns, which are all comprehensively explained in the manual. The patterns are revolutionary: they cascade from motor to motor, pulsate, oscillate… It’s like an amusement park for your bum. It’s just… RAD. I never thought my butt could be further impressed and that I would get to experience anything new and extraordinary at this point in life, but I stand corrected.

Using It

b-Vibe Trio PlugI never suspected I can cum from a butt toy, especially from a… plug. Without even doing anything, not even thrusting in and out. Just from having the plug in. You simply place it, turn it on, breathe deeply, squeeze your PC muscles, clench and relax, clench and relax. And voila! You just came. Just like that! And if you add some clitoral vibration (the Doxy on your clit makes for a great combo), while having the Trio buzzing joyfully inside of you, that will really rock your world. It’s better than vaginal penetration + clit vibration. It’s a whole new world of orgasms, uncontrollable, unstoppable…

Just keep in mind that while cumming, especially when the plug is well lubed, it might slip out, because of your convulsions while having an orgasm. It’s not that big of a deal, because the plug stays under other circumstances. I personally shoot out everything outside of me, even vaginally, when I cum. That’s how hard I clench, but that’s just me, your body and orgasms could be different.

Unusual Applications

Powerful uncontrollable orgasms? Hence the BDSM possibilities that this plug offers. Not just because it can be operated from distance or by someone else, but because you can use it for forced orgasm.

And last but not least, it’s a pretty decent clit vibe if I have to be honest. The motors are so strong and so pleasant that I had to try the plug against my clit. Using it on the first possible setting, which has only the motor at the tip on, is ideal for pinpointed clit vibrations. And it’s easy to hold, and it’s soooo rumbly! It’s even great as an overall vulva vibe (vulva being the umbrella term for all the external genitalia: the labia minora and majora and the clit, not to be confused with vagina, which is your orifice). Because it has the three independent motors and patterns that wave from one motor to the other, it can give you sensations that don’t really compare to anything else out there. And of course, you can use it as a vag plug, especially if you like (to try) vibration at your vaginal opening. Just have fun and try different things out.

Sigh… I so wish b-Vibe started making vaginal and clitoral toys. But that will defeat their name (b for butt), I know, I know. They should have sister company then! Ha!

Packaging

Trio comes in the same awesome box and travel case as the Rimming Plug. Only this time the color scheme is different. With the old one we had a sage & black theme: those were the two color options for the plug, while the travel case came only in sage. This time it’s purple & black. The product box is purple, while the travel case is black, even if you get a purple plug.

Tantus Ryder Review

Tantus Ryder Butt Plug

There are toys you are going to see reviewed in every sex toy blog. And there is the rest: the occasional starlets that burn to ashes really fast. You will see them reviewed because they’ve just come out and the company was sending them away to bloggers. People like them okay but don’t get to take them out of the closet very often afterwards.

(Please clear your cookies before clicking on any of my links to retailers. By doing that you are helping me support this blog at no additional cost to you.)

And there are the stars. Stars like the Njoy Pure Wand. Or the Tantus Ryder. Products that over the years people still have kept talking and writing about. Toys that reviewers and sex educators have come to love so much that they are willing to buy them on their own dime, instead of waiting to receive them in an exchange for a review. There are toys you keep using over and over again. Oh yes, Tantus did it again.

Tantus Ryder Butt PlugRyder is just one of the greatest butt plugs created. Ever. Seriously, just check how much’s been written about it.

Ryder is not an anal toy for beginners. If you are new to butt play, don’t stop reading, but also don’t rush to buy it and use it right away either. You might want to check the Tantus guide to choosing an anal plug and start off with something less challenging. Ryder is 1 1/2″ in diameter at it’s widest part, and has between 3 and 4″ of insertable length (depending on how much of the neck is going to be left outside). I would say it’s a great match for intermediate to advanced users. It has a very tight neck and stays put, nicely positioned with zero risk of slipping out. Which makes it a great plug for longer use. It’s pleasantly rounded and smooth, and it’s so incredibly ergonomic. It’s really easy to put it in; properly lubed, the silicone slides really nicely. When unlubed, the glossy silicone has a lot of drag, but that disappears right away once lubricated. You want to stick with thicker and longer lasting lube, such as Sliquid Sassy or Sliquid Organics Natural Gel.

The base of the plug is really small and comfortable, providing enough safety, but not uncomfortable for longer use. It fits well between one’s cheeks. The neck of the toy is nicely bendy and flexible, so sitting or walking around while having it inside isn’t an issue. Ryder is filling. With its specifications and shape it can be a great tool for anal sex prep. Although if you are thinking of double penetration and using it during vaginal intercourse, it might be a bit too much for some people.

Ryder is made of 100% premium Tantus silicone, which is entirely body-safe, it doesn’t harbor bacteria, it’s easy to clean, and can be thoroughly sanitized if shared with partners. Tantus just equals quality. Period. Their toys come in a very tasteful and non-intimidating packaging. Since they’re silicone, they’re among the easiest to store: you don’t even need to keep them in toy bags or pouches.

Tantus Ryder Butt PlugWhat you see in my pictures is the pre-2016 version of the toy. Most Tantus plugs got updated this year: it got slightly smaller and now feature an anchor base, which should be even more comfortable. Ryder also got a new velvet matte finish. It comes in two colors: black and purple. One more thing I love about it is that it’s so affordable (for a high-quality silicone sex toy of that size). Ryder has a retail price of $40. You can find it at Peepshow Toys for just $29 and you even get 10% off with code WETLANDIA.

If you like the idea of anal play and toys, but prefer anal beads instead, check out my review of Tantus Ripple Large.

Note: Tantus Ryder was not provided to me in exchange of a review; it’s been a happy part of my toy family for a while now.

Tantus Ripple Large Review

DSCN2500I have to say that I am terribly excited (and nervous) to be writing my first review of a Tantus toy. I literally have butterflies in my stomach. It’s like writing your first love letter to someone who didn’t know you even existed.

The Brand

A few words about Tantus. They are the manufacturer of what’s probably the most extensive and diverse collection of dildos, plugs and silicone sex toys. Their creations come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Whether you want your own super realistic dildo, or something that better resembles a phallic sculpture by a mad genius than something bought from a sex store, Tantus has something to offer. All of their toys are made of 100% premium silicone (with the small exceptions of their discontinued Alumina line, which was made of aluminum). It’s entirely body-safe, easy to clean and store (you don’t need to keep your toys in separate containers or bags), and sanitizeable so you can share your toys with partners. (Yay polyamory! Or yay being single!)

All Tantus dildos have a flared base and are harness compatible, which makes them safe to be used anally. Some come with a little bullet vibe that goes into a hole at the base. Those products are also compatible with their suction cup.

The Specifications

Tantus Ripple LargeSome of the most beloved anal toys on the market are made by them (for example The Ryder). And The Ripple is no exception. Tantus Ripple Large is one of the best things created for your ass that is not a butt plug (although for some reason it can be found under their plugs section). The Ripple comes in two sizes. The Small one has a diameter of its widest insertable part of 1″ and total length of 4.95″ (not all of which is insertable), while the Large has a diameter of its widest insertable part of 1.5″ and diameter of its slimmest part of 0.8″ and total (not insertable) length of 6.85″.

The Ripple Large appears as a toy that is advanced-users only, which is not entirely true. Yes, it is really, really long. But it’s not a plug and it doesn’t stay put (even if you try to keep it in, the neck isn’t slim enough, compared to its widest part). So it’s a toy somebody is going to use on you or you are going to use yourself. Which makes The Ripple almost newbie friendly. Its tip and its smallest bead is very non-intimidating. It can absolutely be used as an anal probe and as a first time experience. If you are new to this, just don’t get greedy and don’t aim for more. Take your time with the toy. Do as many sessions with just one bead as you need. When you move to the next one, do the same: wait until you move further.

As for taking the whole thing: even the most advanced users might have a hard time doing that, because the beads are very lengthy. If you are looking for length, this is absolutely your toy! It’s very bendy and flexible, it can follow the curves of your body and your orifice.

The Shape

Tantus Ripple LargeI really love the ratio between the size of the beads themselves and thickness of the space between two beads. Fun Factory Bendybeads is another beloved anal toy of mine, but it’s too slim in between beads and makes every next bead very pronounced. With The Ripple everything is just one really nice gradual slide. Not to mention how seamless and sleek it is. It’s an absolute joy to clean. No dents, no grooves, no sockets where lube can get sticky and tough to remove.

The Ripple reminds me a lot of Tantus Alumina Revolve. If you have it, and liked its shape and curves, but are looking for something flexible, Ripple is the closest thing you are going to find.

The Action

I’ve discovered one really cool way of using it solo, or hands free. Because its base is flared, it kind of stays upwards even on the bed. Slide the toy to the second last bead and assume a cowgirl (or cowboy, this trick can be done by both male and female users) position, in which you are just simply riding The Ripple, which should be in an upright position with its base standing on the bed. For this to work you need a lot of lube. While you are sitting in a cowgirl, you can start rocking or “riding” it: sliding all the way to the last bead (remember, you didn’t have it all in initially). Then, because the neck is thick, and because of the abundance of lubricant, probably eventually the last bead will slide out slowly. And then you sit on it again. You get the idea. If it’s not sliding out itself, you can lock it with your feet and slide out a bit. Absolute hands-free and partner-free anal thrusting.

Tantus Ripple Large

And this is just a thought: if you are performing this while with a partner, you can actually really easily perform oral sex on them. Just assume your Riding-The-Ripple position between your partner’s legs, while they’re lying on the bed. Make sure to have enough distance to their genitals – so you can lean comfortably forward. Depending on their height, you should be sitting on your Ripple roughly where your partner’s knees will be on the bed. Gosh, I hope I am explaining this well enough for you. And an even naughtier thought: if you happen to have a mirror behind you, so they can see you ride the beads, while servicing them, that makes the whole thing mindblowingly hot. And if you want to turn this into a BDSM scene: because this whole operation could be totally hands free, there’s nothing preventing you from being handcuffed.

The Verdict

Are there any downsides to this toy? I would say “NO”, if you have your expectations straight. Carefully choose which size will fit your needs and whether you like lengthy anal strings to begin with. And again – these are not beads that will stay put. Rather than beads you are going to have to thrust in with your hands or with a strap-on.

The Call to Action

(Please clear your cookies before clicking on any of my links to retailers.)

They come in two gorgeous colors: black and midnight purple, and the silicone has a nice glossy finish. You can also often find The Ripple in Tantus’ Grab Bag section: meaning that you won’t be able to pick your color and the toy will probably be some swirl of several colors. But your product will be cheaper than the retail price. Aside from that: same Tantus premium silicone quality.

Get The Ripple Large from Tantus for $47.44 or Ripple Small for $37.54.

The Ripple is part of my private toy collection and it wasn’t given to me in an exchange for a review.

B-Vibe Rimming Plug Review

B-vibe Rimming Butt Plug

B-Vibe‘s Rimming Plug was such exciting news in the world of anal sex toys. Finally some new invention and development in the butt world! (As you could guess yourself, the B in b-Vibe stands for butt.) How is it different and how does it mimic rimming? A lot of sex toy manufacturers have tried to imitate oral sex for instance, and most of these toys have failed greatly.

The Rimming Plug has rotating beads in its neck, just like the beads used in some rotating rabbit vibrators. Unlike them though: these actually really work and are very powerful. The plug also has a separate vibrating motor located in the tip of the toy. We’ll get more into its settings soon, but first things first!

Packaging and getting started

B-vibe Rimming Butt Plug remote and caseB-Vibe is really, really gorgeous. It’s fancy and high-quality, but at the same time the box is somewhat fun and friendly. In all of their marketing materials they use images of very diverse couples. Not straight white couples (not that there’s anything wrong with being straight or white). They make it clear that this toy is great for solo use, for gay couples, hetero couples, butts with prostate, butts with no prostate. It comes with a detailed but comprehensive instruction book and a 1 year warranty. When you open the box you see a really sleek and fancy teal case. The case is really light, but provides enough protection for your toy, as it is resting in a specially designed plastic cast: so the plug doesn’t travel around the box. Even if you decide to throw that one away, the plug had a travel lock protection, so it won’t go off accidentally. It has a remote control whose color matches the color of your plug. The rimming plug comes in black and teal. All the cases are teal though. It’s a rechargeable toy and comes with a USB magnetic charger. You can fit all this in the case, and even have some spare space to store some lube inside. (Never forget lube! Especially for anal adventures!)

Material and shape

B-vibe Rimming Butt Plug

It’s made of a very soft (but not squishy), really matte silicone. It’s just so velvety to touch! This toy isn’t your usual silicone plug. It has a hard core underneath the silicone and it has almost zero bend or give to it (think of a Lelo Vibrator, such as Mona for comparison). It’s 100% body safe, it’s shower friendly and splash proof. They don’t say waterproof, so don’t take it in the tub with you. It’s ridiculously easy to clean: soap and water. You can deeper sanitize your silicone toys in 10% bleach solution. How about its dimensions? The Rimming Plug is big. It’s definitely made for advanced users. It’s not just wide, but it’s pretty long – even if you only count the insertable part. How big? With its insertable 4.8” x 1.5” it’s definitely bigger or as big as about half of the penises in the world. And in order to experience the rimming sensation you will have to take it all in, because the beads are located in the neck. If you are experienced with anal sex and/or pegging, this is a toy for you.

Battery and remote

B-vibe Rimming Butt Plug Remote ControlIt takes 2 hours to fully charge it from 0% to 100%, and that will last you about 1 1/2 hours on full speed. It even has a battery level indicator, which blinks when you need to charge your toy. The remote operates from 30 ft away. And it really does. Toy fully inside, clothes on, different room: that’s not stopping it. Yes, other companies have created in the past some really frustrating remotes that had to be pointed literally at somebody’s genitals to work. This isn’t the case. But even if you’re not a fan of remotes and always keep losing them, you can go through all of its settings by pressing the control at the base of the plug. Yes, it’s definitely easier to use the + and – for power with the remote, rather than pressing several times to go back to your desired setting. So what I’m getting at is: don’t lose your remote. It’s a good one. And by the way, the remote uses a small round battery. And if you forgot to read your toy’s manual, you might not remember that you have to remove the little plastic protection that keeps the battery from getting wasted before you even purchase it. So remove that battery slip. I totally freaked out that my remote was defective and wouldn’t sync. Silly me, I guess I was excited to actually try the b-Vibe, and skipped all the reading. In order to have your control synced, you need to press once the power button of the toy, so it’s blinking. This wouldn’t turn the toy on immediately; it will just pair it up with the remote.

When put to the test

You will need a fair amount of lubrication with a plug of this size. Don’t use silicone lube on it. Stick with thicker water-based lubes for anal sex, or hybrid lubes. Insert it slowly and start with the lowest setting of the rotation and the vibration. The slower it is, the more pronounced the rimming sensation is. You might wanna turn the vibration off and just concentrate on the rotation first. It takes some getting used to. Savor it. It’s really different than what you’ve experienced with other anal toys. Then play with the speed and the settings. It has several patterns as well. The strongest setting is pretty powerful!

The size and the design of the plug make it really similar to anal intercourse. It will definitely get you fully ready, if that’s on the menu for the night. The shape of the plug is round and there’s nothing that will poke you in an uncomfortable way. The widest point is not that much wider than its slimmest one, it has a nice big neck. If you are worried that it’s gonna slip out because if that ratio: don’t worry, it really won’t. It stays put.

It’s created with the help of the anal sex expert, Charlie Glickman. And you can tell. There’s very little that they could’ve done better.

One thing that could get in the way is how big the base is. If you are simply going to use it as a butt plug: it performs great. If you want to have vaginal intercourse while the plug is inside too, that could get tricky. Basically you are going to have to either spread your cheeks and have the base horizontally, not vertically. In simple words: not alongside your crack. Otherwise the base almost covers the entrance to your vagina. Also, the plug is biiig. So it could be challenging to have a penis or a dildo in your vag at the same time.

Power exchange and outside use

B-vibe Rimming Butt Plug Case and Remote ControlOne of the intended applications of the plug is for BDSM power exchange and use outside. For instance, your dom instructs you to wear the plug during your shopping at the mall or at a fancy dinner. And he gets to keep the remote. The idea is brilliant and almost works as good in real life. On the highest setting it can be a little noisy. It’s not a noisy vibrator. It’s just noisy for… wearing it a quiet boutique or luxury store. But luckily less so through your clothes or a few feet away. Unless you are going to a really quiet public place and don’t want people looking weirdly at you for having your phone buzz in your purse (that’s probably gonna be the assumption) then you are covered. Actually having people looking and wondering what’s going on might be a bit of a turn on. Unfortunately what truly gets in the way of outside use it that it’s not very comfortable to sit with it. Especially on hard surfaces.

On penises and prostates

It’s a symmetric straight butt plug. It doesn’t have a prostate curve to it, and I haven’t used it on prostate owners, so I can’t say how it feels. I am curious whether the vibration will feel really great on the prostate, because the motor is located at the tip, or whether the lack of curve will make it less so.

How does it feel on the penis, while it’s penetrating you vaginally and the plug is on its highest setting? I’ve been told that it doesn’t feel like much. To me the vibration is very strong, but I guess it doesn’t travel that much through the wall that separates your rectum and your vagina. There are plenty of organs and tissues, so I guess it just gets absorbed. Or perhaps with the thrusting and moving around during intercourse, it’s just not very noticeable. I guess one has to stay still inside in order to feel any of the vibrations.

In conclusion

B-vibe Rimming Butt PlugThis is a sick (in the best possible way) creation of an evil genius, executed in almost completely flawless way. It’s definitely a unique plug that can bring you entirely different sensations from any other anal toy. It’s one of the few really big anal toys for advanced users, and is an absolute must for your kink collection. You can drive someone mad with the remote.

It’s really high quality and absolutely worth investing money into. There aren’t many rechargeable b-plugs or anal toys on the market (to name a few manufacturers: Nexus, Fun Factory, Je Joue and Lust by Jopen). If I have to point out one disadvantage of the toy: it’s the price tag. Yes, this product is spendy. But looking into it’s named competitors, all of the rechargeable and/or remote controlled silicone anal toys I found are in the price range of 100 and 200 USD. A lot of research, work and quality materials have been put into it, and it’s definitely worth it. If you want to invest in one really high-quality toy, instead of buying several cheaper plugs (which in many cases are not silicone, ergo probably not body-safe), this is a very good way to go.

If you like the idea of a rechargeable butt plug with super strong vibrations, but are intimidated of the size of the Rimming Plug, then maybe you should take a look at the Trio Plug by b-Vibe. The only thing is that the Trio doesn’t have the rotating beads, but it has not one, but three of the strong and rumbly b-Vibe motors. The company is providing a lot of education and tips on anal sex, butt play and pleasure and is a really good and responsible manufacturer to support.

Cashew Groove Butt Plug Review

FunkIt Toys Cashew Groove Butt Plug

FunkIt Toys Cashew Groove butt plug in its glory

First sex toy review… Yay! I’m not gonna lie, you guys..  It wasn’t easy to pick which one to review first. I do have a pretty big personal collection (note to self: count number of sex toys) that I’ve accumulated over the years, some of which date waaay before Wetlandia.com was born, some I bought just 10 days ago while I was at Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit 2016. Ironically, I picked a product from the latter pile. Even though I have my all time favorites that have been my go-to tools for fun, this fellow sneaked into my top 5 immediately.

It was love at first slide.

FunkIt Toys Cashew Groove is a butt plug. And it’s sooo amazing at being a butt plug, that I actually didn’t try doing anything else with it. Until yesterday! I was reading the company’s website while doing further research on their products and philosophy. So I found out that the ribbed part is meant as a clitoral non-vibrating toy. Had to try it immediately, you know… for the website. Dear, Kenton (the owner of FunkIt, and runner of the whole operation) you are a genius. But first things first!

Cashew Groove as a plug

What time is it? It’s Butt Plug o’clock!

With insertable length of 3 1/2″ and widest point of 1 1/2″ Cashew Groove isn’t a beginner’s friendly plug. It gets to its widest point very gradually, so I would say it can be used by intermediate, as well as advanced anal play lovers. I didn’t need any other warm up from a smaller toy in order to be able to take it, at the same time it was big enough that when it was eventually all in, I didn’t need to move to a bigger toy after a while. It can absolutely get you ready for anal sex with a penis or a strap on. If you are looking for one plug for the entire evening – there’s your toy. It’s very light, so taking it in your carry on or even in your purse for a fun night at somebody’s place isn’t gonna be an issue.

My beautiful pink swirl

All of FunkIt Toys are made 100% of platinum silicone. Most of them are see-through with gorgeous swirls of your color or colors of preference. You can buy one of the products in stock, or you can order your own customized toy, choosing from 1 up to as-many-as you-wish colors (each additional color costs just $5 extra). Shout out to their rainbow toys (named after the amazing sex blogger Crista Anne!) Your toy will be without doubt one of a kind, because they’re all custom-made. As I mentioned, the company is run just by one person. Feel of the silicone is very sleek, it doesn’t have drag to it, once properly lubricated. Use water-based lube with it, never a silicone-based one. Always add plenty of lubricant during anal play and reapply if needed. Their silicone isn’t too hard, has plenty of give to it and a nice cushioning, which is really important for a butt toy because you need the neck of the plug to have some bend and feel comfortable in different positions.

Speaking of the neck of plug, I think that’s one of the features I like most about it. It’s not too slim. The ratio between the girth of the neck and the widest part of the plug is just so delicious. My sphincters were stimulated the entire time, and were stretched enough to be ready for some action at any given point. Plugs with really slim necks could be very painful to remove or to do in-and-outs with. Most plugs won’t get you sufficiently ready for anal sex (if that’s the main reason you’re using a plug). A good plug that precedes anal sex should prepare you for being stretched all over (but at the same time, should have a pronounced wider part, so the plug doesn’t get shot out of your ass by the contractions of your muscles). Penises aren’t super thin at the base of the shaft, and a penis is definitely going to do some thrusting, even if very slowly and gently, so you do need that warm-up for your sphincters.

Suction cup to suction cup: Cashew Groove with The Swing

FunkIt Toys silicone products (as of this moment) come with a built-in suction cup. You can use it absolutely hands free, while it’s nicely attached to the tiles of your shower or on pretty much any flat surface. It has another super cool feature to it too: it can be attached to another one of their toys (or any other toy with a flat base or one with a suction cup), turning it into a double ended toy or a toy with a comfortable handle to it. The suction cup doubles as a flared base for the plug, so you will be entirely safe in your anal adventures (never put vibes and toys with no base, because they can get sucked inside the rectum and you do want to save yourself the trip to the emergency room). At the same time the base folds up, so it fits really comfy between your cheeks. Having intercourse while the plug is nicely snuggled inside your ass, isn’t mission impossible. Unlike other toys, the base doesn’t get in the way too much. Depending on how big the penis is, having both vaginal penetration and being filled up with the plug at the same time could be too tight of a squeeze.

I went far and beyond in testing the product and gave it a prolonged stay challenge. I wore it for up to 3 hours, walked around with it, did some groceries, sat on my desk, tried penetration while wearing it. It stays put, doesn’t slip out, doesn’t poke me in an unpleasant way. I can sign under this statement: it’s one of the most comfortable plugs I’ve tried.

Cashew Groove as a clit toy or a vag plug

FunkIt Toys Cashew Groove Butt Plug

The “n” in “funk” is rotated by 90%, so it looks like a “c”. How awesome is that?

Okay. I am gonna say it. This is the first time in life I’ve enjoyed a non-vibrating clit toy. (I feel so young and green all of a sudden, blushing with my newly discovered interest.) The ribs of the Cashew, the big enough surface, the sleekness of the silicone and the ergonomics of the shape, designed with thought both for the clit, and the hand holding the toy, make it… just perfect for the task. I am one of these gals, that never plays with her own clit (unless it’s with a vibrating toy). My tiny thin fingers are just not meant for it. I get tired pretty soon and just end up frustrated. That’s why I never even bothered to masturbate manually. It’s simply not doing it for me. The Cashew Groove just gave me the so needed tool for that. Not to mention that it generally feels better than anyone’s fingers stimulating me. Fingers are just too… Bony and hard for me. They usually hurt my clit, or the friction is too uncomfortable for my sensitive skin. So I would love to see this toy used on me by somebody else.

And how does it behave as a vag plug? Pretty well, I must say. It doesn’t give me much g-spot stimulation, but it’s definitely great just as a plug: I can have my vag muscles clench around it, while feeling properly filled. Another really good way of using it vaginally are in-and-outs. You can try slow and teasing movements, or thrust faster and faster. Because the silicone is more bendable, there’s no way to poke your partner or yourself badly.

In conclusion

FunkIt Toys Cashew Groove Butt Plug

The base of the product has FunkIt Toys engraved, which I think gives a really cool touch.

I really loved the idea of supporting an indie toy manufacturer, and having a unique toy, one that has a character to it and that I chose to match my taste and liking. At a starting price of $49 for the single-color ones, and $39 for their older model that doesn’t have the foldable base, it falls roughly in the middle of the price range of silicone butt plugs. Is it worth it? Hell yeah!

And in case you haven’t heard yet, it’s #AnalAugust, treat yourself to a nice butt toy. For the time being you can order your FunkIt Toys only from their website. Shipping to the US is included in the price.
