Crave Duet Review

dscn3363-copy

Some things are so beautiful that one develops an unfathomable attraction to them. This is how my relationship with the Solo and the Duet by Crave began. It’s fair to say that I’ve been drooling over each and every single one of their creations. To me they are the perfect embodiment of kalokagathia, a concept developed in classical Greek, that mean beautiful and good, as two inseparable entities in one. There wasn’t a word that could better describe the Crave products. Designed and manufactured in California, by a responsible and highly-respected company, they were just visually perfect. Anything from their gorgeous bullet vibrator necklace Vesper, to the Duet, was aesthetically pleasing, a perfect harmony of shape, functionality and style. Zero bullshit. No made-up needs and functionalities.

As much as I loved my Vesper and its bold statement, I knew that the Duet was more powerful. It featured a turbo mode, and it was this striking beauty made of silicone and stainless steel. And it had two “arms” or “ears” which reminded me of the Jimmyjane Form 2. I imagined how perfectly they will surround my clitoris and the endless joys they will bring to it.

But first things first, what does the Crave Duet offer?

Crave Duet ReviewThe Duet is a handheld vibe, bigger than a bullet vibrator, but really comfortable to hold in just one hand. It’s 4.5″ long, 1.1″ wide and 0.5″ thick. It has 4 vibration modes, 4 power levels and its steady vibration offers a turbo mode as well (which is respectively more powerful than the 4th speed). It’s completely waterproof, and it doesn’t need a power cord at all, since it can be plugged directly into a USB port. It’s silent, rumbly and decently strong.

The two little “ears” are a little flexible, so they don’t apply pressure the way a bullet vibe does, or the way Form 2 does for that matter. What’s cool about that is that it actually feels like fingers embracing your clit, but ones that also vibrate. The sensation is really pleasant with a good amount of lubrication, because I can stroke my clit with the vibe in a unique way that no other toy offers.

How did it feel?

One thing that was a letdown and didn’t work really well for me is how close the two ears were to each other. That “pincer” shape is way too narrow, and I have a fairly small clitoral glans (the “nub”, or the external part of the clitoris). I can’t even imagine how it will possibly work for people with larger clits.

It surrounded my clitoris in a way that was too intense and even painful at times. While this shape worked really well in the Form 2, where the two motors were farther apart, the two sides of the Duet were too close for me to be able to comfortably use it. That might be exactly what would work for some people, but it was too pinpoint, too pinch-y and too direct for me. And I am someone who likes the highest speed of a Doxy Die Cast. I DO like strong vibrations, but the Duet turned out to be both not powerful enough, and not shaped in a way that would facilitate my orgasm.

Crave Duet ReviewAnd the same time, with enough lubricant on my clit, moving it left and right, similar to stroking my clit with hands, was quite enjoyable. Similar to the Form 2, it does have some really interesting patterns that bounce back and forth from the two ears, pulsate in an intricate way and amuse my clitoris like no other vibe. Does that make me orgasm? Not really, but it’s a fairly good for warm-up. And I have no doubt that many people will be able to orgasm with either just the patterns or the steady Turbo mode alone.

I also tried using it sideways, just one “ear” at a time. This wasn’t too successful for me either, because the Duet is flexible, so I can’t really press it against my clit or against one side of my clit to get off from it. It also tends to make a weird sound and kind of “struggle” if you press it too hard against the body. For some reason the motor doesn’t agree with being pressed against something.

The Crave Duet made a very interesting nipple vibrator though! If you pinch two parts together, it can become a handheld vibrating nipple clamp.

Usability and accessibility

While I love its beautiful little storage case, its size and the fact that it doesn’t even need a specific charger, there are features of the Duet that I find a little less appealing. While I always appreciate separate buttons for speed up and speed down, as well as a third one for moving between patterns, these three controls were all located on a tiny rectangular of 1.1″ by 0.5″. That makes everything a bit too difficult to press, locate and use. Especially for people with less dexterity, ones with arthritis or tendinitis. The Turbo mode was even less accessible, because on steady mode, after reaching the highest speed, one has to press steadily the “+” button for 2 additional seconds. In practice it’s even more complicated than it sounds.

In conclusion

dscn3366With a price point of $149, this clitoral vibrator is far from affordable or even thinkable for most people. And as much as I wanted, truly wanted, to love it, and as much as I hate to give Crave a “bad” or mixed review, I cannot easily recommend it to people. It’s too anatomically specific and there’s a huuuuge chance it’s going to be too narrow, pinchy and way too pinpoint for many people. And it’s not even the most powerful clitoral vibe I own or have tried, so even from the standpoint of power, I can’t easily tell people to go for it. I think other Crave products have far better success rate than the Duet. The Vesper necklace vibrator, the Crave Bullet or even the Solo will probably be a much more suitable choice for most, and at the cost of a much smaller risk of not fitting or working well for everybody’s anatomy (and some of them are half the price of the Duet). I am going to even throw the Tango as an option, a rechargeable waterproof vibrator by We-Vibe, much cheaper than the Duet and far more versatile and practical. I know that there are many people who’ve loved the Duet and as a matter of fact, it has mainly highly positive reviews at most retailer websites. But can’t possibly recommend a vibe of that price range that clearly isn’t going to fit far too many body types. While supposedly external vibes should be a category that’s far less dependent on one’s anatomy, the Crave Duet happens to be the exception.

You can get Crave at Vibrant or at Shevibe.

Tantus Rumble Dorado Head Review

Tantus Rumble Dorado Head

You already know that Tantus is a company particularly close to my heart. What they create is almost always pure genius, and they’re a great role-model of responsible business practices for the whole adult industry. Oh, and they’re cute as f*ck. They’ve just sent me this Christmas card.

As a person who’s not particularly able-bodied, with many chronic diseases that result in pain in my limbs, shoulders and back, I was extremely happy when Tantus launched the Rumble, their ultra light vibrator. Rumble is also gender-neutral and inclusive. It’s for all bodies, all sizes, all shapes, all genders, all expressions, all orientations. I’ve already reviewed the Rumble, so I am not going to talk much about the vibrator itself, but one of its attachments that I’ve come to like a lot.

Rumble Dorado HeadOne of the huge advantages of the Rumble is the fact that it comes with interchangeable heads that you can buy separately. You might wander how this is different from using an attachment on a Magic Wand or Doxy Die Cast. On Rumble, even the smooth “main” head is an attachment. You remove it, and then place the attachment you want, instead of putting it over the original head. This way the attachment fits better, everything is 100% hygienic and sanitizable (because all of the heads are made of matte smooth silicone), and there are no weird noises or problems with transmitting the vibration well. Have you ever tried a Magic Wand attachment that doesn’t fit well? All the excessive sounds and all that buzzing and flapping around, ugh!

The Dorado Head might look familiar, and that’s because it’s similar to a Magic Wand attachment, called Flutter Tip. While many people complain that the buzziness and the power of the Magic Wand make the Flutter Tip unbearable, the Dorado head works on the Rumble in a simply delicious way.

The only way I can describe the Dorado Head is: oral sex performed on you by a cool robot with a vibrating tongue. No joking! Seriously, it feels like a tongue caressing you, but one that also vibrates. It’s spectacular! And it’s good not just for clits, you guys! As with everything else about the Rumble, it can be used by everybody. Body parts that love the Dorado Head vary from clits, vulvas, trans men’s dicks, and penile frenula (the plural of frenulum, yes, I am that geek), to nipples, balls, perineums and ass holes. I swear to god, butts love the Dorado head, it feels like anilingus (more commonly known in the popular culture as rimming)!

Adding plenty of lube on the area where you’re going to use the Dorado Head makes the sensation even more “oral-sex-like” and its’ much more enjoyable. It almost starts resembling saliva and the flickering fin of the Dorado turns into an even more realistic tongue.

It’s also great for people who are very sensitive to touch, particularly on their clits, because the Dorado is a very gentle and sensual attachment. Also, if you don’t to change attachments, Dorado still has several ridges that are similar to the original Rumble head, so you can alternate between the little fin of the Dorado, or the more broad and substantial edges and sides of the head.

And once you are done with it, just remove the attachment, wash it with soap and water, boil it, or bleach it, and you’re done! If you want to read my full review of the Tantus Rumble vibrator, go here.

It costs $24, and it’s sold separately from The Rumble.

Often Tantus toys are on sale and if you want to get you G-Force on some awesome deal, check regularly my SALES page.

Satisfyer Pro Penguin Review

Satisfyer Penguin

There are going to be some of you, who will hate the looks of this toy. I know many people who almost find the color pink offensive to their feminism. I’m the kind of feminist that’s comfortable enough with embracing their feminine side, and having pink objects in my possession is far from threatening to my activism or self expression. At the same time, I’d like to acknowledge that many people with vulvas might not feel feminine and might genuinely avoid pink or fuchsia toys. So I am always kind of disappointed when toys don’t come in any other color option. At the same time I am really, really into how cute and simplistic the Satisfyer Penguin is.

The Satisfyer Pro Penguin is a toy many have been waiting for. It’s nominated for Best Powered Toy of the Year by Xbiz, as well as for Best Innovative Toy of the Year. The last one I find quite ironic, given that the Satisfyer allegedly stole the pulsation technology from the Womanizer. Anywho… After the huge success of the original Satisfyer Pro 2, the company released four new models almost simultaneously. I’ve already reviewed one of the battery operated models, the Satisfyer 2, and I’ve been extensively testing and comparing the toys. The biggest difference that the new models have, with the exception of the Satisfyer 1, is the shape of the nozzle. While the Satisfyer Pro 2 had a nozzle with a small opening, but very thick outer part, covering a larger area around the clitoris, three of the new models, including the Penguin don’t have that extra cushioning.

What is the Satisfyer?

Its’ a clitoral or nipple toy that uses a combination of pulsation and suction and is meant to be placed around the glans of the clitoris, or the nipple. It’s very gentle and subtle sensation, that on higher speed can become intense and powerful, but it’s very distinguishable from vibration. These toys also work great underwater. The closest way of describing it would be: it feels like someone performing really skillful cunnilingus on your clit.

What does the Penguin feature?

dscn3584The Penguin is a rechargeable waterproof toy, that’s made of silicone and ABS plastic. It comes in a nice box, sans a storage case, and features 11 speeds. While the 11 speed motor is a common feature of the other Satisfyers, the motors are all different for the different products (or at least, they feel different). While the Penguin is not as powerful as the original Satisfyer Pro 2, I think it’s as good an option, as the Pro 2. They’re just different, and I can’t necessarily rank one higher. The Penguin also has similar controls with the Pro 2 — one button for turning it on or off, and one for the speeds. Unfortunately the one button only circles through the speeds and cannot go back, unless you go to the highest setting, after which instead of going from 11 to 1, it starts slowing down: 11, 10, 9…. I find this really frustrating and annoying, because the speeds are so many that having to go all the way back from the start over can be exhausting. (Hence, my appreciation for the only model that has “+” and “-” controls.) It has a very comfortable to hold shape, the body of the toy is matte and totally non slippery, it’s lighter than the Pro 2 and is a little smaller, making it even even easier to take with you on a trip.

How is it different?

The Penguin comes at a slightly lower price-point. It lost the excessive noise of the motor and is now a much more discrete and non-distracting to use a toy. It’s slightly less powerful than the Pro 2, which I don’t mind, to be honest. The few highest programs of the Satisfyer Pro 2 were always a bit too much for me. The Penguin feels much more pinpoint and concentrated. It’s less overwhelming and is more gentle and nuanced.

The only thing to consider is the size of your clit and the size of the nozzle. While the opening of the nozzle is wider than the one of the original Satisfyer, the nozzle doesn’t have the additional patting covering a larger area. Which might make it unsuitable for people with larger clits, or ones who dislike too pinpoint stimulation.

Tips for using it

I am going to repeat most of the things I’ve already said about the other models. Add lube on your clit and vulva, as well as on the nozzle. Try combining wearing a butt plug, a vaginal egg or kegel balls while using the Satisfyer Pro Penguin, if you find clitoral stimulation unable to get you off alone. And definitely give it a spin underwater!

In conclusion

Satisfyer Pro PenguinThe Satisfyer Pro Penguin is a great gift for anyone who doesn’t already own a Satisfyer or a Womanizer. I would even recommend it to someone who wants to replace their older Satisfyer because of its noise levels. As with any other sex toy, there’s no guarantee it’s going to work for you or that you’re going to like it. But if you like receiving oral sex, or gentle clitoral stroking, chances are you might really like the Satisfyer Penguin. The positive reviews and feedback for these toys are far greater than the negative ones. The Satisfyer Penguin is probably one of the best models out of all. I love it’s shape, it’s matte material, its subtle pulsation. And the price of just $49 certainly doesn’t hurt either.

Fun Factory Cayona Review

Fun Factory Cayona Vibrator

It’s not often that I absolutely love a vibrator that doesn’t really do what it’s supposed to. But it does so many other things so impressively well, that it won my heart the first time it touched my lady bits. Fun Factory Cayona is nothing short of an amazing g-spot and vulva vibrator — which for some reason is trying to be a dual vibrator. I wouldn’t have even figured this out if I didn’t read the description of the product, which says that it’s supposed to stimulate the clitoris as well as the g-spot. This it does not, but with all this in mind, I absolutely love it and am not even really disappointed that it’s not a rabbit vibrator.

When one of the companies I work frequently with, Peepshowtoys (kind to send me so many toys to review), asked me if I wanted to review the Cayona by Fun Factory, I couldn’t type “YES” fast enough. Why was that? First of all… well… Fun Factory! Duh! If you are not familiar with the world of sex toys, Fun Factory is a premium sex toy brand, made and designed in Germany, with really good quality products, joyful colors and wonderful shapes. And most of their sex toys are constantly on my wishlist.

What Is Cayona?

Cayona is a vibrator that looks like a vulva. Need I say more? It’s just so beautiful it makes me squeal every time I look at it. Not only does it look like a vulva, but it’s a great vulva vibrator, as well as a vaginal vibrator. For those of us damaged by the non-existent sex-ed in school and throughout adult life: vulva is everything on the outside, including labia majora a labia minora and the clitoris; vagina is the internal organ where penetration happens. Because Cayona is shaped like a vulva, it rests perfectly well on the vulva. Which is great if you like external vibration that’s not just concentrated on the clit. Technically any internal vibrator can be placed over the vulva, but the Cayona is squishy, soft and modeled in a way that just fits insanely well.

Fun Factory CayonaVibrations on the vulva, not just on the clitoris itself, can be extremely beneficial to people who dislike direct or pinpoint clitoral vibration, but also ones that like their entire genitalia played with and stimulated. The clitoris is not just a knob; what we see on the outside is just the glans of the clitoris, not the entire organ. The clit has “legs” deeper inside the body, on each side of the vaginal opening. So, vibration on a broader genital area can work really well for both arousal and achieving orgasm.

While using a vibrator over the vulva will block your vaginal opening (so it cannot be used alongside a dildo or during penetration), you can combine the Cayona with kegel balls or a vibrating egg internally. Or just enjoy the external stimulation.

Apart from pleasuring my vulva, Cayona is great for vaginal (internal) use. It’s neither a super long nor a very girthy vibrator with its insertable 4″ and a diameter of 1.5″, but its gentle g-spot curve and rumbly vibrations are all I needed. These days I find super pronounced g-spot curves too much, and the sensation can be almost painful. The Cayona will stroke your g-spot instead of jamming it directly. Thrusting in and out, or twisting the handle clockwise or counterclockwise does the trick perfectly.

You will need a lot of lube for vaginal play, because the Fun Factory silicone is a little draggy. Use a good amount of body-safe water-based lubricant with it. Unlike most silicone vibrators, Cayona is not just covered in a thin layer of silicone, which would make it feel almost like plastic. It’s softer and squishier, has a little bit of bend to it and feels much more natural. At the same time it does apply enough pressure on the g-spot to actually make you come.

What Does It Offer?

The Fun Factory Cayona is nothing short of a premium vibrator by a reputable brand. It’s entirely waterproof and submersible, it’s rechargeable with the help of a magnetic charger (no wall adapter included, just the USB cord), and it has a 1-year warranty. It offers deep and rumbly vibrations, has 6 speeds and 6 patterns and, thank god, it has a travel lock. It’s relatively quiet — I’ve heard people complain about the noisiness of other Fun Factory toys, but the Cayona is not one of them. It doesn’t come with a storage bag (Fun Factory toys never do, sad face), but the packaging is stylish and not too pretentious; it’s not very heavy, nor takes a whole lot of space. And it comes in 4 beautiful pale pastel colors: yellow, green, blue and pink.

So What Doesn’t Work?

dscn3263This vibrator is definitely not a rabbit vibrator. The little pearl that it has (the one that looks like a clit) cannot reach the actual clitoris in any possible way while inserted. Again, I don’t think this is a big deal, because this vibe delivers many other sensations. But if you’ve purchased it with the idea of using it as a rabbit, this might be a letdown. If you are looking for a rabbit vibe, I’d recommend checking out at the Fun Factory Miss Bi.

In Conclusion

Cayona is a stunning silicone rechargeable vibe with a firm core and flexible softer coating. It has multiple speeds, and it can be used in the tub or the shower. And it’s rumbly! Unless you are looking for a much bigger, longer and girthier vibrator, Cayona is a great choice. It also doubles as a vulva vibrator: just place it over your labia and clit and enjoy the broader external vibrations. Did I forget to say that it’s just $99? And you get 10% off from Peeshowtoys. And it qualifies for free shipping. Just sayin’! (wink)

Gift-Giving Guide: What to Get Your Partner if They Have a Vulva?

Best Sex Toys for Women

These gift-giving guides are proving to be a really hard work. Duh! But I hope they’re a helpful resource and will guide you through the tricky times of BLACK FRIDAY SALES.

Welcome to Part 2 of this shopping recommendation bonanza. Today we’re going to talk about toys for those with vulvas. Whether you’re shopping for yourself, or you’re shopping for your girlfriend, mother, sister, or wife, I am going to do my best to help you budget your purchases, as well as figure out what might be the toy that best meets your needs. Sex toys are the best gift a girl can receive, but often partners are completely clueless what to pick. If you don’t want to receive a tacky jelly rabbit vibe, maybe you can accidentally on purpose send this article to your loved ones. I’ve tested most of these toys and I’ve consulted other reviewers who have first hand experiences with them. So let me sherpa your way to the instant (well, almost, unless you are buying from a brick and mortar store) gratification that sex toy shopping can be.

All of these categories start with the lowest price, but without putting your health at risk. An important thing to try to remember when shopping for sex toys: always avoid things that look suspiciously cheap. I’ve only included body-safe options in this list, but if you wanna do your own shopping, please stick to these materials.

If you missed part 1, Gift-Giving Guide: What to Get Your Partner if They Have a Penis?, you can always check it out here.

4. Mystic Wand Rechargeable for $95.95 from Good Vibrations. As I mention in my review of this wand, it’s less powerful than the Magic Wand Original, but it’s much easier to hold, it’s smaller and lighter and it’s not as overwhelming. It’s rechargeable, but if you run out of juice, you can use it plugged in the cord. It’s really sleek and pretty. No attachments available.
5. Lovehoney Desire Wand for $99 from Lovehoney. Silicone, multi-speed and rechargeable. Not compatible with Magic Wand attachments.
6. Sola Egg Massager Passion Set Set for $119.99 from Shevibe. I’ve reviewed the Passion Set and it comes with two extra silicone attachments included. Sola Egg Massager is a super small handheld cordless wand with removable silicone head. Magic Wand attachments fit great on it too.

7. Swan Wand for $$119.99 from Shevibe. This is a fabulous strong and rumbly wand that looks really aesthetically pleasing. 100% silicone, waterproof and rechargeable. Not compatible with any attachments
8. Magic Wand Rechargeable for $124.95 from Peepshowtoys. What can I say? The updated cordless version of the Magic Wand Rechargeable is pretty awesome. The battery holds up to 4.5 hrs, the head is silicone, it has several speeds to fit everybody’s needs. And all of the attachments meant for the Magic Wand Original fit on it.

The Rabbit Ears by The Rabbit Company Review

Updated on 12/12/16.

The Rabbit Ears by The Rabbit Company Review

The Rabbit What…?!

The Rabbit Company is a sex toy manufacturer that only makes rabbit vibrators — by which they mean vibrators that have ears. They have a number of dual-stimulators (imagine a classic rabbit vibrator) but they also make a number of handheld external vibes that have two ears.

I am going to address the elephant in the room: almost all of their products resemble other companies’ toys, and we don’t see a whole lot of actual innovation and much of product development. Most of their products have the shafts of Lelo Ina, Mona or Lelo Loki, meshed with an external arm of a Vibratex rabbit: with actual ears and all. Others simply don’t make any sense (a wand vibe that’s also a rabbit vibe). Their pocket vibrators remind us of Love Crave Duet. And even though they carry their products in other colors, all you will see on their website is bright pink. Despite the somewhat tacky marketing, website and product design (back to the 90s??), they went for Lelo prices and even placed themselves at higher price-points than We-Vibe or Je Joue. Lelo hasn’t been a great company lately (a lot of people just don’t want to buy Lelo anymore), so in a way I can’t be entirely upset with The Rabbit Company for replicating their truly genius Mona shaft. And to be fair, they have several models that are not entirely inspired by other companies, such as their G-spot rabbit, the Lay-on Rabbit and the Rabbit Ears.

Out of the above I was truly curious about the Rabbit Ears. Emmeline Peaches reviewed quite positively the Lay-on Rabbit, so I went for the more flexible Rabbit Ears. The Rabbit Company only makes body-safe sex toys that are rechargeable and come with a 5-year warranty, which is not a bad place to start in an industry that’s been poisoning their clients with toxic materials and offensive marketing.

The Rabbit Company products are well made and are mostly visually appealing (not the dazzling, sparkly editions covered in crystals, God no). They come in a stylish packaging that only has an image of the bunny on white background and a list of the key features of the product.

What is the Rabbit Ears?

The Rabbit Ears is a small, handheld external vibrator. It’s made for external stimulation on the clitoris and other erogenous zones. It’s longer than traditional bullet vibes and the motor is located in the shaft of the toy, so either the shaft can be used directly or the little ears at the end can be placed on the clit. I like the idea of unbundling the rabbit ears from the rabbit vibe, because a lot of folks actually really like the little soft ears but prefer using a dildo separately. Rabbits rarely work for most people.

The toy is made of matte silicone (it only comes in pink or purple). It’s easy to use and the shaft is long enough to hold it in place, but at the same time the total size of the product makes it a good travel vibe. It fits in a small purse and it’s very light. A downside is that it doesn’t come with a storage bag (which is something that I’d expect for this kind of price). It’s rechargeable and waterproof (but should not be submerged for more than 15 min).

How does it behave?

What I like about the motor and the programs is that it has 10 different speeds. And no patterns! YAY! And it has “+” and “-” controls, so you can go back and forth in speeds. There is nothing more annoying than toys that only have, say, 3 speeds and a bunch of patterns; or single control toys. The motor is powerful though a little loud (it’s on the buzzier side).

I like using the Rabbit Ears for warm up, since I prefer pressing a vibrator against my clit, and the little bunny ears are way too flexible for me to properly enjoy the toy. If you prefer softer and more subtle materials, or if you don’t take well to pinpoint stimulation, this toy might be a great star of the show. It’s also not a vulva-hog, so there’s enough space to use it clitorally and at the same time thrust in with a dildo vaginally.

The reason I cannot fully recommend this toy is that we live in a world where We-Vibe Tango costs $79. And Tango is without a doubt much more rumbly and deep, it’s fully waterproof and might work for more people. But if soft bunny ears do the trick for you (say, more so than bullet vibrators), the Rabbit Ears could be the way to go for you. Now Shevibe carries The Rabbit Company and the Rabbit Ears sell for $89.99.

Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review

Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review

My relationship with the Mystic Wand Rechargeable began even before owning one. Years ago I read Epiphora’s review of the Mystic Wand, a small, lighter, battery-operated and cordless cousin of the Hitachi Magic Wand, that she and many others loved. I was always envious of cool US brands that were impossible or difficult to find in Europe. Sure, the Mystic Wand looked ridiculous, as many early Vibratex creations, such as the original Rabbit Habit vibrator. Apparently my patience has been rewarded, because Vibratex finally came up with a rechargeable, non-90’s-looking version of the Mystic Wand.

How is it different than the original one?

Well… as the name suggests it’s rechargeable. No more 4 x AAA batteries. But what’s even more important is that you can use the toy plugged in the outlet. Yes, you can use it while it’s charging! Which isn’t how most rechargeable vibrators work. And I am really grateful for this feature, because I can totally use less “when is it gonna die???” anxiety in my life (which by the way is a real thing). Another thing that’s significantly improved is the design. More ergonomic, more body-friendly, more crip-friendly (and I am throwing myself in this category too, as I suffer from several conditions that make holding an object for extended periods of time painful and sometimes impossible). And as someone pointed out in the comment section of another review of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable, the new shape is great for people with short hands!

Packaging

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable comes in a plain box that doesn’t suggest it’s a sex toy, unless you read the back of the box where the word “lover” will hit you in the face. I am not even going to comment on this horrible copy that is shaming men, scratch that, shaming every human partner, for being bad lovers and calls the toy the best one you can possibly have. Even if a someone thinks that their Hitachi is their ideal boyfriend, there’s a difference between standing up for yourself, knowing what you want and taking care of your own needs, (Yay feminism!) and when a sex toy company is trying to shame your partners for simply not being good enough.

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable comes with a charger, a wall adapter, and an instruction leaflet with pretty much the same copy as the box.

Features

Luckily, once you’re done with the packaging, everything else gets better (I hope you’re one of these people who doesn’t read boxes and instructions and just jumps right at the gadget itself.) The new Mystic Wand is silicone, very soft and nice to touch and it doesn’t look tacky at all (bravo, Vibratex, you’ve learned your lesson). The toy is splash-proof which means that you cannot submerge it in water, but you can briefly wash it. You will only need soap and water to clean the toy, again: I would steer clear of running water directly over the controls. The battery takes between 2 and 3 hrs to charge completely, which will give you 40 to 90 min of play. After that: just plug and play.

Well done, Vibratex, well done!

What I love about it is how travel-friendly it is. It’s 9 inches in total length with a head of 1.9 inches by 2.25 inches. And it’s super light! Tantus-Rumble-light! It doesn’t look like a vibrator, so taking it through security wouldn’t give you too much of a headache and unpleasant interactions with TSA agents.

Mystic Wand Rechargeable ReviewI think they’ve done a really good job in terms of ergonomics. The handle curves towards you, and is easy to hold. What’s interesting is that they’ve added extra controls in 2 other places. You have the main on/off at the front, and you have a button that says “F” (which apparently stands for “function”, not for “fuck”). But at the back of the toy there are two more “F” buttons that do the same, but are located one at the end of the handle, and one closer to the base for your convenience. I think this isn’t a bad idea, because everyone holds their toy in a different way. So far I haven’t had negative experiences of changing the setting by accident. I just wish that with all these buttons, there was one that could take you back in the 3 speeds and 3 patterns. It only goes one way, which means you need to circle through the 6 modes, if you missed your jam.

The neck of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is just slightly flexible, which works great for me, because it gives me enough pressure, without being too unpleasant and too rigid against my body, given that the head is fairly firm. Other bloggers have reported that they don’t like the ridges and the insane number of seams on the toy. It can certainly get annoying and cleaning can be a huge pain, if you are using lots of lube in your play sessions. The way I use wands and clitoral vibrators is with zero lube, because I actually like a little drag. I like positioning the toy in one place and having it there, while applying different amount of pressure. I can’t come if my clitoral toy is too slippery, it just keeps missing the “right” spot for me, if there’s any lubrication. But I know a number of people who are too sensitive and cannot have any external vibration without lube. Avoid silicone-based lube with this vibrator and stick to a good water-based lube.

At use

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable is fairly rumbly and strong for a light rechargeable toy. It doesn’t have the “umph” of the Magic Wand, or the Doxy, but it is strong enough to please most people. When compared to Tantus Rumble, which also has 3 steady vibration modes and a few patterns, the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is slightly more powerful. The head is also not as wide and broad, which might work for more people, as it gives a good balance between broad and pinpoint vibrations. The vibe is not whisper quiet by any means, but it’s also far from distractingly noisy.

Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review

The toy itself is very gender neutral (and I wish they’d edit the copy, so more penis-owners will embrace it). It’s a great toy for any body and any equipment. My penis-owning partner loves it, because he can’t take more powerful wands, but he likes vibrations a lot. The Mystic Wand Rechargeable provides him with that perfect range of vibrations and speed that is neither “I don’t feel a thing”, not “Ouch, get that thing away from me!”. It feels really great on his balls and on his shaft.

Last words

I was really pleasantly surprised by the Mystic Wand Rechargeable. Despite thinking that it wasn’t powerful enough  at first, after having used it for a while, I now appreciate that it actually has enough power for a number of situations. It’s not heavy and thuddy, but it’s also not meant to be a Magic Wand replacement. It’s a light, travel-friendly, less powerful vibrator, that is probably going to work for more people and more bodies than the Magic Wand or the Doxy. It’s also cheaper than the said toys, and you can get it for $95.95 (available only in black) and free shipping from Good Vibrations.

Good Vibrations constantly run sales and deals and you can find their current promotions either on their website, or in my “SALES” section.

Doxy Don Review

Doxy Don Review

I bet your first thought when you read Don was: what the hell is this? Don is many things, and a  lot of it doesn’t fit in the short “Ultra Powerful Plug-In Anal Vibrator” title. If I have to pick one word that describes it best it would be “rumbly”.

Don, which used to be called Skittle, is made by the same company that gave us the Doxy Massager and Doxy Die Cast. All of Doxy’s creations are made in the United Kingdom, with high-quality production standards and medical grade silicone. I freaking love their vibrators. They’re so strong, so rumbly, so mind-blowingly awesome, that I wish I could have Doxy giveaways for each and every month of the year. Scratch that, I want to go Oprah with Doxies and give one to every reader.

What is Doxy Don not?

Don is not waterproof. It’s not rechargeable. It’s not super small, nor travel friendly. It looks weird. And yet I absolutely love it. When a toy is made that well, all the rest of the fru fru stuff doesn’t matter. Because what matters is whether it works, whether it feels good, whether it delivers pleasure. And it so does!

What is Doxy Don?

Doxy Don ReviewIt’s a silicone, body-safe corded vibrator. The silicone isn’t as soft and smooth as the one on the head of the Die Cast wand. Don comes in a stylish black box (and Don itself is offered only in black color). It has 5 power settings and one vibration pattern. The cord is 12 feet (4 m) which definitely doesn’t have you glued to a power outlet. The controls are big, easy top press and operate, and light up (dimly) in the dark. It has “+” and “-” buttons, making going back and forth through different speeds a breeze. If you want to enter the pulsating pattern, you just need to press the on/off button slightly longer. The controls are located separately from the vibrator, which has it’s pros and cons. If you’re among those of us who like using a dildo AND an external vibrator, reaching for the buttons can be a little bit of an obstacle. But at least there’s no pressing by mistake, and not fishing for tiny controls.

Don is very quiet and is certainly a discreet vibrator to use. Other bloggers have even reported using it in bed while their partner is asleep and not waking them up. Don is really, really powerful. Not Die Cast powerful, but keep in mind that this one is much more pinpoint and you actually don’t need that much power on a smaller area. I would say it’s very gender neutral and has a number of applications.

One can use it as an external vibrator and apply it to any erogenous zone: breasts, nipples, balls, dicks, around the butt-hole. But it can also be used internally as a vaginal or anal vibrator. To quote Doxy‘s website, it’s dimensions are: “Overall height 7.5 inches, including 2 inch insertable portion. Maximum circumference of the handle is 7.5 inches; maximum circumference of the insertable portion is 3.75 inches.” Which means that the bulb is 1.2 inches in diameter. In my opinion, 2″ by 1.2″ (3 cm by 5.5 cm) is a great size even for beginners anal toys.

How does it behave as a clitoral toy?

Don is literally the rumbliest vibe I own. It’s delicious, deep, life-changing. It doesn’t numb your clit, it’s not painful, it doesn’t have any buzz to it. The lowest settings of the vibe are really subtle and nuanced and I think even people very sensitive to vibration can use it. The big body makes it somewhat weirdly easy to hold when used as a clit toy. It also doesn’t hog one’s vulva, so there’s plenty of space for a dildo while you’re using Don externally.

How does it behave as a vaginal toy?

In this scenario holding it can be a little more difficult and awkward. Don might not provide the length and girth a lot of us are looking for in an internal vibrator, but it’s just a different sensation, it’s not your regular vibrator with which you can also thrust. Also, because of the shape and the flat part right around the end of the little bulb, it is a good vulva and clit vibrator too while you have the bulb internally. Pretty cool if you ask me. The same feature provides excellent perineum stimulation during anal use on penis-owners. Speaking of which…

How does it behave as an anal toy?

Doxy Don ReviewVibrations that strong and deep can feel nothing but good in my butt. I think Don is a great toy for people new to anal play, new to pegging, that are looking for a small insertable toy. It’s great for both solo or partnered anal explorations. The big base of the toy makes it easy to use it on yourself. Unfortunately it’s not a plug, it’s not a hands-free, stay in toy. One has to constantly hold it in place. The only way of using it hands-free was to have Don standing up on a flat stable chair, and to squat over it. With a little bit of holding the base at first, for the initial penetration, the rest can be achieved hands free. It’s not a position in which you can stay in for a lot of time because your quads and legs will get insanely tired with squatting over the toy. But it’s sustainable enough for a few orgasms if you get off anal vibration.

I love combining anal vibration and clitoral vibration and that almost always makes me orgasm. It’s a lot of toys to hold and your hands will be full, but try a small clitoral vibe while having Don in your ass, or a wand vibe. Same applies to penis owners. Try adding some vibration or stroking on the penis. Don’t just be focused on the anal stimulation. Solo or partnered, work the cock; at the same time, hand jobs, blow jobs, or vibration on the balls and the shaft are all welcome, depending on personal preferences.

Things to consider

The only real issue I have with Don is that the vibrations travel a lot and the whole body of the toy vibrates. Especially when used as an insertable. Overall Don is light and ergonomic to hold, but after a while my hands are numbed by the vibration.

And in terms of personal preference of size and shape, to me Don is a little too short and small for my taste in insertable vibes (both anally and vaginally). I wish Doxy will create Don 2 with a longer and thicker internal portion.

Last words

dscn2744Doxy Don is nothing like any other vibrator out there. Both with its unusual shape and specifications, and with its rumbly, strong vibrations. If you don’t mind your toy being corded, or having to hold something that is a bit larger, I would say, by all means, Don is a great buy. At the price of $89.99 and free shipping from SheVibe, with its amazing motor, multiple applications and several speeds, I think this is a steal. So much better than disappointing buzzy external vibes. But bear in mind that if you are looking for a hand-held small clitoral vibrator, you’ll need to consider something different.

IMTOY Gazelle Review

IMTOY Gazelle

The adventurer in me is always curious about new brands, toys, and shapes. There isn’t anything like waiting for a toy and having absolutely no idea what it’s going to be or feel like. Trying out a new, especially a lesser known, brand is like going out on a first date with someone you never met. You’ve read their online profile, you know some pretty basic things about them, but that’s about it.

I wasn’t at such a complete loss when it came to IMTOY because I have seen a part of their Zoo line at the Sexual health expo in Brooklyn, and I’ve briefly touched and felt their toys. But that was pretty much my only impression and I had no expectations. The company kindly approached me and asked me if I was interested in reviewing the Gazelle, an external smart vibrator with an attachment. At a very competitive price point, and entirely body-safe, I absolutely had to say yes and further investigate.

A few words about the brand

IMTOY used to be known for their penis vibrator Piu and the Kegel training program Candy, both of which were very expensive and a number bloggers and reviewers expressed certain frustrations with the apps that operated these toys. Things with the new ZOO line from IMTOY seem significantly improved. Reasonable pricing, quality materials, sophisticated packaging: so far so good. All of the ZOO products are operated by the same app. The brand is trying to focus on innovation, so all of their products are app controllable and feature a number of interactive ways of operating your toy.

A few words about the line

IMTOY Zoo

The ZOO, which features several different toys, has embraced the animal metaphor entirely. Each product has a name that corresponds with the shape of the toy. There’s the Giraffe, which is their internal vibrator and the Rhino, which funnily is their rabbit vibrator. I have to be honest: it does look like a rhinoceros and it’s somewhat less ridiculous of a name for it than a rabbit. “Rabbit” makes me remember those old tacky vibes with the rotating beats, bright colors, cheesy packaging and literally little bunny head and ears for clitoral stimulation. They really did themselves a favor by distinguishing themselves from the old name. Gazelle is their external vibe that can be used for clitoral stimulation, or on any other body part that fancies vibrations (balls, cocks, nipples, etc). These are so far the only products you can purchase from them, but they have three more models coming. There are two dual stimulation vibes, one of which is meant to be worn during intercourse (think We-Vibe 4), the other one meant to be worn more like a vibrating vaginal egg and is similar to Je Joue Dua. And there’s the Manta Ray which I am really dying to get to try on my partner one day: it’s a vibrating toy for penises. I don’t know what the prices of these last three products are, but $75 for an internal rechargeable vibe, $89 for the dual one, and $89 for Gazelle: that’s roughly half the price of similar products from their competitors, and a pretty good deal for what you get in exchange.

IMTOY Gazelle

The Zoo line is taking over my fridge with these animal magnets.

I have to say that I don’t know how I feel about the line and the zoo metaphor. In a way I think it’s cute and clever, it gives the whole line a distinction, it’s far less creepy than human names or properties. (Although, if human names are just a way of distinguishing between toys, I kind of don’t have a problem with that either. As long as the copy doesn’t suggest that your vibe is a passionate lover or that it’s better than a human being. For whatever reason, maybe because Tantus are a great company and they don’t have any misogynistic or superficial copy, I have no beef with my dildo being called “Alan“). It’s very distinctive, and will definitely stand out, and I hope that people are not going to think it’s some cheesy brand, because despite the playfulness, it’s a really high-quality and sophisticated product that doesn’t look nor feel cheap one bit.

Yes, a number of products from the line seem similar to ones from other brands, but IMTOY seem to bring new features and to have changed a few things. All for roughly half the money. I am definitely curious to see more from them.

The packaging

What you get from IMTOY is a whole experience. It’s like unboxing jewelry. Your toy comes in very stylish pastel beige box that only has a drawing of the given animal, and just a few words: the name of the brand, the name of the line and the name of the product. Nothing that suggests it’s a sex toy. At the back of this packaging you have some of the features of the product listed: superior motor for intense vibration, randomized vibration option, smart device control, orgasm button, 16 vibration patterns, draw your own vibration, voice, video, music and kinetic interaction and safe medical grade silicone. Not a huge fan of a few words in the copy: “superior motor” and “orgasm button”: definitely not the best way to call things, but more on that later.

Underneath lies a layer of wrapping paper that closes with a little sticker with the logo of the brand. And then, showcased is the toy, the attachment and the cord. I am in love, don’t judge me. It doesn’t come with a storage case or bag included, but even far more expensive toys (Je Joue or Fun Factory) don’t offer one either.

The product

IMTOY Gazelle

Gazelle is an external vibe that looks like a mini wand and comes with one attachment with animal-like “ears” included. It’s rechargeable via a magnetic charging cord you can plug in a USB drive or the outlet. The magnet is really strong and keeps really good contact with the toy, unlike a number of other toys that constantly move around and are a pain to charge. Shall we take a minute to acknowledge the gorgeous cord? I know I am going overboard with my femme side, but… the cable matches the color and the material of the vibe! It’s the most gorgeous pale pink and it gives such a nice finish of the whole experience. You can always pick out the proper cord for this vibe, because it will stand out between all the other black and white cords. No fishing around and wasting time. I love attention to detail and the Zoo line gets extra points in that category.

IMTOY Gazelle

Charging it is easy, compared to other magnet ports. The charger seals perfectly to the toy.

The toy is completely waterproof (and to this day a lot of external vibes are not: puzzling, I know). This one is a darling: it’s even dust proof! It repels lint and little particles. Very (VERY!) successfully. The silicone is the softest one I’ve even touched. This is not an exaggeration. I own LeloJe JoueFun Factoryb-Vibe and We-Vibe toys. This one cannot compare to anything I’ve felt or touched. Maybe only the Iroha+ series has such a soft silicone. I’m not talking about squishiness, but the softness and the velvetiness of the material. I want to hold it, and run my fingers over it, and touch it all day long. I want to live in a magical kingdom where everything is made of this silicone. Gazelle is also very lightweight and easy to hold. The shape is great and ergonomic. The only issue I have with the design is that it’s a one button only toy. Which means you have to cycle through all the settings in order to go back or find something you’re looking for. Clearly, the app solves that issue, but still, I want to be able to control a toy with buttons. I don’t use the app all the time. I feel that the app drains the battery much faster. Also, because the toy is entirely symmetrical, and the button is fairly small, in many cases I have no idea where the heck it is at this very moment.

One problem I have with Gazelle is the battery life: 2 hrs of charging give you only 45 min of play (I am assuming that if you use it on highest setting paired with the app. Hopefully app-free and on lower settings it lasts longer). I haven’t timed it, but on several occasions I’ve used it for more than 30 min and it hasn’t died or indicated that it needs charging. I hope in the future they would come up with longer lasting batteries.

The attachment

dscn2700The little ears are made of the same wonderfully soft silicone and definitely make the toy more versatile. You can have the ears on both sides of your clit, or tilt the toy sideways and have a very direct pinpoint stimulation by just using one ear, or you can place it on just one side of your clit, for less direct stimulation. My clit is a lefty (overall the left side of my vulva is more sensitive) and I prefer having a toy next to it, direct pinpoint clitoral vibration (or touching) can be a bit too much for me. Without the attachment the toy has a broader round head that makes clitoral stimulation less unbearable, and it’s quite pleasant on my vulva too.

The app

The app gives you a bunch of options and functionalities, which, to be honest I am rarely going to use. Clearly, you can just go through the settings, or control the speed in a much more precise manner than with the button. You have the little rocket icon which is their “orgasm button”. It simply takes you straight to the highest speed of the vibrator, which might not be at all the preferred one for different people. Not to mention that some bodies might not get off with it at all. So calling it an “orgasm button” is simply incorrect. I’d be much happier if it was literally called “rocket” button or “take off” button. It’s handy if you don’t wanna bother with lower settings and just want to jam it all up. Their “bomb” icon has an interesting feature, if you like patterns. It’s a complicated unpredictable one, which might not make you cum, but is good for teasing or keeping things interesting. You can even draw your own vibration pattern, which I think is not a completely useless feature.

The app will allow you to control the vibe with voice, music or even video (I didn’t even bother with this one, because I like the predictability and dependability of personally being in charge), as well as kinetically (the harder you shake your mobile device, the stronger the vibration). I don’t see how the last one can be handy, but the voice one can be useful for some power play. The harder the receiver screams, the stronger the toy vibrates. It can encourage people who’re quiet and have been sex or masturbation shamed, to be more vocal and expressive. I am a huge fan of moaning and screaming even during masturbation, and I think everyone should try doing it. The feedback that your body receives actually helps you experience more pleasure and perceive sex or solo time as more enjoyable.

At use

IMTOY GazelleThe vibrator is almost silent on lower settings and gets a bit more buzzy on its highest, but is still on the quieter side of things. It’s really rich and rumbly on lower speeds, and can give you a very nuanced experience in these lower and mid-range vibrations. Unfortunately it gets buzzy on highest settings and makes me numb if I’m continuously using it for more than 15-20 min. If I am using cascading or pulsating patterns the numbing subsides and I can use the toy for longer. The attachment combined with the abundance of patterns makes it very versatile.

The neck is a little bendy, so if you like pressing a toy really hard and close to your body, this might be a downside for you, but it actually makes it more pleasant for me, because it has a give and it doesn’t feel as rigid against my body.

Using it on your clit alongside with a dildo or during intercourse is really easy, because the toy is not a vulva hog, doesn’t block off your vaginal opening and is ergonomic and easy to hold. The long handle makes it much more easy and natural to use than a small clit vibe.

And clearly, because I know you’d wonder, it could be used internally. It’s roughly the size of an internal vibrator. The shape is not ideal and you will need a lot of lube. If you don’t insert it all the way, it can give you enough g-spot stimulation and somewhat work well, but bear in mind that it’s not created for internal use, so it doesn’t have an optimal shape. You might like the curves and like it exactly because it’s different from what you usually introduce inside your vagina. Depending on how deep you slide it, the control button might end up being inside you, you’ll simply have to go with the app, if you want to change settings.

Cons

  • comes in just one color and as much as I like that particular color, probably 90% of people won’t feel the same way
  • it gets buzzy on highest speed
  • not for power queens
  • short battery life
  • just one button, no way to go back and forth in settings
  • the app is not super easy to use, hard to beat the We-Connect app
  • it’s lacking something to get me off, I use it more as a starter toy

Pros

  • affordable for what you get
  • waterproof
  • dustproof
  • rechargeable
  • can be app controlled
  • plenty of patterns if you’re into that
  • rich and rumbly lower speeds
  • versatile, can be used with or without the ear attachment
  • lightweight
  • easy to hold and ergonomic for clitoral or external stimulation
  • super soft silicone
  • luxurious packaging
  • design that is gender neutral, doesn’t look like a particular body part, can be used on any body part and by anyone

Gazelle is a little hard to judge. I am not sure if I it will be a good fit for you. If you still don’t know whether you want clitoral or internal stimulation, I would suggest you start off with IMTOY Giraffe, because it can be used as vaginal vibrator or you can hold it and apply it to your clit. If you know that you prefer clitoral or overall external vibration (on different parts of your vulva), Gazelle is probably a good choice, because it can feature more pinpoint, as well as broader stimulation, giving you several different sensations from one vibe. It’s also a good first or second sex toy, it’s not going to overwhelm you with power, the way a Hitachi can.
