OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2 Review

Updated on 12/19/2016.

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2

I’ve had my eyes on OhMiBod (aka LoveLife) toys for a while now. And one model in particular: the LoveLife Cuddle. I’ve read a great many positive reviews, and the price tag of $69 for a rechargeable vibrator just had me perplexed. How could a vaginal vibrator of such a small size get such great rating? Then OhMiBod added a bluetooth remote function and an app and called it blueMotion Nex 2. This made me extra curious to find out whether the Nex 2 was worth almost twice the Cuddle. Short answer: I  don’t think so. But we’ll get to that.

How similar is it to the Cuddle?

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2The blueMotion Nex 2 arrives in a stylish box (but not as small and cute as the one of the Cuddle) with a white satin storage bag.

It’s a small insertable vibe with an insertable length of 4″ and only 1.25″ of maximum girth in diameter. It has a nice and smooth silicone shaft and ABS plastic handle with three controls. It’s super easy to change speeds and vibration modes. It has 7 patterns, some of which are quite nice, and multiple speeds. It’s rechargeable, taking around 2.5 hrs to fully charge in exchange of up to 2 hrs of play. Unfortunately, it’s only splash proof, not submersible. Cleaning lube and vaginal fluids off the embedded OhMiBod letters in the silicone at he back of the toy can be a challenge. Why do companies keep making toys this way? Never mind… blueMotion Nex 2 and Cuddle are equally powerful, rumbly but quiet, and have an insanely good g-spot curve. It might not look like it, but it’s far more pleasant than many other g-spot vibrators I’ve used. It’s super easy to hold and use, and makes me orgasm both applied on my clit or in my vagina. So far, I give it 5 stars.

How does it feel?

Overall I am somewhat of a size queen. But I’ve noticed that often I like bigger objects vaginally just to make up for the lack of a g-spot curve. I squeeze my vaginal muscles around their shaft and this is how I end up applying pressure on my g-spot.

With the Nex 2 or the Cuddle, I don’t need any of that. Even its small size is enough to make me come because of how it’s shaped. But I often like using an additional clitoral vibrator, such as the We-Vibe Touch, alongside vaginal stimulation. But that’s just my jam, and that’s how I use most insertable vibrators or dildos.

What’s up with the blueMotion?

I don’t understand why they couldn’t call the Nex 2 simply Cuddle 2 to avoid the confusion. Confusion? Yes, because the blueMotion line has an entirely different toy, Nex 1, which is a pantie vibe. So, I almost got the wrong product. Names should help your purchasing experience, not have you Google things and research what’s what.

I don’t know who came up with the blueMotion line. The whole idea is that these vibrators can be controlled with the help of a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet. Cool, nothing unusual here. Many people like the We-Connect app by We-Vibe and it works well for playing with a partner around the globe or in a BDSM public play scenario. Having someone wear their toy while their partner controls it, is not a fundamentally new idea. But the Nex 2 is just a regular vaginal vibrator that can’t be worn outside for public play. And it’s a vibrator that has controls which work really well, as a matter of fact I couldn’t be more happy with its well-designed buttons. Which kind of defeats the purpose of a so-so app.

If you ask me, the hole point of having someone control the vibrations of an internal vibrator is a bit non nonsensical. A lot of the pleasure one derives from an internal vibrator is from the way one moves their wrists, how they control the shaft of the toy, how they thrust in and out — all of that. Having someone controlling your vibe from around the globe, or from a distance, unfortunately doesn’t make them really in control of your pleasure. It’s a better idea in theory than in practice.

Possible Applications

I completely admit that there are many scenarios in which it could be exciting to have someone control your vibrator for you. Whether you’re in a long distance relationship, or enjoy power play and orgasm denial, the app can give you an extra dimension and more opportunities to enjoy your time together or your time apart.

Cam girls could also use this vibrator as an opportunity to connect with their clients and allow a much more interactive experience.

The app

While the app itself is not bad, I wouldn’t say that it is that necessary to the average customer or that it brings much additional value to the toy (unlike an app controlled toy is exactly what you were looking for). One big downside of the app is that it doesn’t allow you to use the toy in a steady vibration setting or easily control the speed (the way the We-Connect app does, for example). It allows you to control a few patterns (and you already have patterns on the vibe), design your own pattern, or allow the toy to create a pattern via sounds — the pattern is controlled by the loudness of a voice, music or whatever you choose to play in the background. Again, in everyday life, many of these are just novelty aspects that don’t contribute that much to the experience in practice.

Did I mention that the app allows you to record your orgasms? It literally lets you set a weekly goal of how many times you want to come. What on earth? Why would I reach to my phone and mark down that I’ve had an orgasm. In an app. In a journal, maybe… I get it that some people like sex geekery and might be excited to record that, but for an extra $60? How about notepads? Virtual or analogue? Not to mention that this puts a whole lot of pressure on you. I don’t like the aspect of asking our bodies to perform a certain way, say, come a minimum number of time a week.

In conclusion

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2I find the upgrade OhMiBod gave to the Cuddle a bit unnecessary for the average customer. What you get extra is  an app that’s just okay. If you are in a long-distance relationship and want to have an internal vibe that your partner can control, I strongly recommend We-Vibe Rave that is slightly cheaper and is a mind-blowing toy, that also has a good g-spot curve, and a much better app. If you just want a good g-spot vibrator, get the Cuddle, it’s virtually the same toy as Nex 2 sans the app. By all means, if you  can afford the Nex, and if you like the few extra functionalities, Nex 2 is still a good overall product. And it still manager to be cheaper than most rechargeable silicone brands, some of which don’t even come with a storage case, let alone an app. The blueMotion Nex 2 will set you back $129, while the Cuddle is just $69 and totally rocks. If you are struggling financially, don’t despair, the Cuddle is an utter delight!

Swan Squeeze Curve Review

Swan Squeeze Curve

Before you run screaming, let me tell you something: this vibrator comes in teal too. It’s not only in pink. Breathe in, breathe out, my pink-hating reader, and keep on reading because this one is really worth it!

About Swan

First things first. Swan’s products are designed and developed in Canada. They feature high-quality, body-friendly, silicone sex toys. They’re most famous for the Swan Wand vibrator. If some of their models seem familiar, that is because Jopen bought the rights for most of their products and sells them under the Vanity line. The newest Swan creations though are sold under their original label and under the BMS Factory wing, which are involved with other well-respected brands, such as Leaf and the improved version Leaf+.

When I saw the shape of the Curve, I knew we were most probably going to get along. But then I found out the whole Squeeze line features smart vibrators. “Brace yourself” was my first thought, because to be honest, anything that claims to be smart, revolutionary, or innovative gives me shivers. All I want is to be able to easily control my toy; too many promises of high-tech features fail greatly in this industry.

I am not afraid to admit how wrong I was. The Swan Curve is just a joy to operate and use.

The Curve is one of the three vibrators in the Squeeze line. The Swan Kiss is a clitoral vibrator. The Swan Hug is their rabbit-style vibrator (that actually looks really intriguing and might work for a number of bodies because the shaft and the external arm are flexible). The Swan Curve is their internal vibrator, and actually works really well for external use too.

Packaging

The Swan Curve comes in a small box in a color that matches the one of the vibrator you got (teal or pink). It closes with a magnet lock, and contains a visually appealing booklet with a manual, a black satin storage bag and the USB recharger (no wall adapter included).

The product

The Curve has a gorgeous shape. Shape that I can admire both visually and at use for hours. Keep in mind, the Curve is not for size queens. With a diameter of 1.3″ (3.3 cm) of the widest part of the insertable end, and total length of 6.45″ (16.4 cm), two thirds of which are insertable, it’s a really good average size toy. Its neck is slightly flexible, which makes it really comfortable during use, without too much poking or hard g-spot stimulation. The g-spot stimulation is still there even if not in a Njoy Pure Wand or Comet Wand way.

The Swan Curve is made with 100% matte silicone finish. It’s seamless and soft, with the usual amount of drag for a silicone toy. It’s really easy to clean, it doesn’t have anything engraved on it, and doesn’t have any ridges or weird bumps. It’s waterproof and fully submersible and its battery holds up to 2.5 hours (in exchange of up to 3 hrs of charging it). And it comes with 1-yr warranty. But enough about the stats, let’s get to the point.

At use

Swan Squeeze CurveWhen I say it’s easy to operate, I mean it’s ridiculously easy to operate it. It only has one button that you need to hold for a few seconds until the toy vibrates twice shortly. Then all you need to do is gently squeeze the handle on the sides. It’s really intuitive, and by holding it you can create really enjoyable patterns and rhythms that respond to your needs at the moment. If you don’t want to squeeze it, you just need to press the button once and it will hold the desired vibration strength. If you want to change the speed, press again to unlock it, and squeeze until the desired speed again. It also has a feature that actually allows you to memorize your own vibration pattern and replicate it. According to the brochure, you can operate it hands free by inserting the toy vaginally and squeezing your legs together. And believe it or not, the hands-free use worked really well too! It’s not something one can use really long though, because your thighs will get tired after a while. But I can see this being a great feature for dominance and submission, while using hand restraints, maybe ordering the submissive to squeeze their tights and pleasure themselves, punish them for getting tired and not following orders… The vibrations are rumbly and strong; at the same time the Curve is not too noisy of a toy. It’s really ergonomic and intuitive both for internal and external use.

Last words

The Swan Curve is one of the most pleasant and enjoyable shapes of an internal vibrator that I’ve ever used. I can honestly say that I loved everything about it. It’s reasonably priced at $89 and has all the features one would expect from a premium brand. (And let’s not forget that we live in a world where toys much more expensive than a hundred bucks are not even water-proof.)

Here’s a short video I shot showing the Curve Squeeze at use. You can see the amount of pressure needed to operate it, how easy it is to lock a vibration speed, and how flexible the neck of the toy is.

Tantus Echo Review

Tantus Echo Vibrator Dildo

The meaning of it all…

First dildo review for my website! Squeee! How did I publish 20 posts and not a single one focusing on dildos? The universe is mysterious. Actually, this isn’t just a coincidence. It speaks of the state of the industry, and it speaks even more of the average customer’s preferences. Contrary to the common misconception, “a big dick” is not what women covet. Their orgasmic needs far exceed the crave for a phallus. These days we don’t seek a “replacement” or something that mimics the reality. We buy weird horseshoe shaped gadgets and novelties, we demand that our toys can be operated from the other end of the world, and we’re all hyped up about couples’ toys.

A fellow sex educator who works at a sex store said: people think that dildos are for dykes.

Let me tell you something. Dildos are for everybody. Straight or gay, man or woman, cisgender (identifying as the sex you were biologically born with) or transgender. And dildos can be freaking great. Yes, you are normal. You are not a pervert if you already own or want to buy a dildo. No, it’s not going to replace your partner. And no, you are not going to get “addicted” to it and never go back to “the real thing”.

Tantus Echo Vibrator DildoWhy are dildos so cool? To start with, dildos with flared bases, such as all Tantus products, are harness compatible and anal-safe. They’re easy to hold and you can use them on yourself or a partner can use them on you. Dildos nowadays come in all sorts of cool colors and shapes and don’t have to be realistic one bit. They can enhance your sex life even if you have a male partner already, because you can get a dildo with a different size than your partner’s equipment, and most importantly, you can pick one that has a pronounced g-spot curve. Sometimes you need to start small and a smaller toy is a great way to warm up for intercourse.

To the point…

Tantus is a company that is extremely sex-positive, has a really comprehensive website with lots of information and advices on it, and offers both realistic as well as really creative and unusual dildos. Their boxes are not pornographic or cheesy. So take a deep breath and repeat after me: owning a dildo is fun!

What the fudge?!

Yes, it’s a dick with 5 heads. Echo! The sensation of inserting the glans of the penis is echoed 5 times. I doubt that I am the only one that loooooves that moment, that first slide in, that delightful sensation of the head of the penis entering your vagina or anus and the rim of the glans rubbing against your opening… and then past the g-spot… Ahhh… can this last forever? Apparently it can! It feels as good as you’re imagining it. Believe me!

Sooo… how big is it?

Tantus Echo is 6.5″ long and 1.55″ at its widest (diameter). If you are not a fan of such deep penetration, you can absolutely enjoy it without taking it all in. In the dildo world, this is a medium-sized dildo. Usually smaller dildos are used for either warming up, or for pegging (when a woman wears a strap on an uses it anally on a male partner). A lot of people go way overboard and get a 2″ x 7″ dildo  as their first toy. I would say; start smaller, too big can be painful and requires a lot of building up to it. If you are advanced in butt play, this toy is really, really fantastic for anal penetration because the shape is the closest a cock can be to anal beads. A lot of my Tantus toys are way wider and I am not even dreaming of trying them in the back door, but this one passes the challenge quite successfully. It also has a certain smoothness and roundness that makes it particularly pleasant for anal adventures.

What else does it do?

This toy is quite accomplished at “just” being a dildo. Great for thrusting or squeezing your vaginal muscles and contracting around it. But if you are looking for more, there is more. It’s actually a vibrating dildo. It comes with the little Tantus bullet vibe (included in the price of the dildo), which you place in a hole at the base of the toy. The whole is the same size as most bullet vibes, so if you have an even more powerful vibrator, such as We-Vibe Tango/Salsa, it can fit it. The bullet is a one-speed waterproof vibrator, that is powered by one 1.5 V Type battery (not AA nor AAA, it actually lasts much longer). It comes with the battery, but you need to open it and remove the battery protection. And if something happens to the vibrator and one day it breaks, you can easily get a new one from Tantus, without having to replace your whole toy.

Another awesome feature that all Tantus vibrating dildos or plugs offer is that the toy is compatible with the ultra strong Tantus Suction Cup. This turns your toy into a hand-free joy. You can attach it to any surface and use it as if you’re having intercourse. You can attach it on the floor, facing up, get some pillows for your knees and ride it, or you can place it on any wall or vertical surface and have the dildo penetrate you from behind. If your hands tend to get tired from holding the dildo, or if you like a sensation closer to actual intercourse, that’s a great feature.

As I mentioned before, it’s harness compatible. Great for girl sex, or for pegging. While you’re at it you can grab a strap-on from Tantus too. They thought of everything!

How to make most of it

Experiment with your dildo. Don’t assume how you’re supposed to be using it. Jamming it in and a lot of friction might look great in porn, but that’s probably not how you would like to masturbate or be stimulated. Also try holding the dildo still while “humping” it with moves from your pelvis. And, of course, check out the vibration. You can remove the bullet from the toy and actually use it separately on your clit. A combination of g-spot stimulation from penetration and vibration on your clitoris might be your formidable orgasmic combo.

If you own a wand vibrator, such as the Hitachi Magic Wand or the Doxy, try touching the base of the toy with the wand, while the toy is inside of you. That’s going to make the whole toy vibrate in a much stronger and rumbly fashion, which is another entirely different sensation for you to explore.

Final words

I think that the Echo is one of the coolest ideas Tantus had and brought into the world. I love that it’s not too girthy, that it provides me with the repeated sensation of being penetrated by the head of the penis again and again. And I’ve taken advantage of all the ways this toy can be used: as a vibrator, with a suction cup, with a strap on, as an anal dildo. It’s made of body-safe silicone and comes in two gorgeous colors: pearl white and midnight purple. The reason mine is neither is that I bought it from their Grab Bag section, which has their “surprise” colors, mixtures and swirls. If you’re into some mystery, I’d suggest you try their grab bags because they’re cheaper than the regular price. If you have strong color preferences go with the regular one. If you don’t care much about the vibration, using it with a suction cup or a strap-on, Echo has a version with a longer handle, which makes the dildo much more easy to hold and use (and it also seems that they have a pink one, if you accidentally have fallen in love with mine).

You can boil your toy for sanitation and have the peace of mind that it’s completely non-porous. Basically unless you lose it, or your dog chews on it, nothing’s going to ever happen to it. Being made of the regular Tantus silicone blend, and not their softer O2 line, it’s a little hard and stiff. Shiny silicone has a drag to it, so use plenty of lube (stick with water-based or hybrid lube for silicone toys), especially upon initial insertion.

It’s one of my fave dildos and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes texture and doesn’t need a really pronounced g-spot curve. Is it newbie friendly and could it be one’s first toy? Hell yeah!
