Satisfyer Pro Penguin Review

Satisfyer Penguin

There are going to be some of you, who will hate the looks of this toy. I know many people who almost find the color pink offensive to their feminism. I’m the kind of feminist that’s comfortable enough with embracing their feminine side, and having pink objects in my possession is far from threatening to my activism or self expression. At the same time, I’d like to acknowledge that many people with vulvas might not feel feminine and might genuinely avoid pink or fuchsia toys. So I am always kind of disappointed when toys don’t come in any other color option. At the same time I am really, really into how cute and simplistic the Satisfyer Penguin is.

The Satisfyer Pro Penguin is a toy many have been waiting for. It’s nominated for Best Powered Toy of the Year by Xbiz, as well as for Best Innovative Toy of the Year. The last one I find quite ironic, given that the Satisfyer allegedly stole the pulsation technology from the Womanizer. Anywho… After the huge success of the original Satisfyer Pro 2, the company released four new models almost simultaneously. I’ve already reviewed one of the battery operated models, the Satisfyer 2, and I’ve been extensively testing and comparing the toys. The biggest difference that the new models have, with the exception of the Satisfyer 1, is the shape of the nozzle. While the Satisfyer Pro 2 had a nozzle with a small opening, but very thick outer part, covering a larger area around the clitoris, three of the new models, including the Penguin don’t have that extra cushioning.

What is the Satisfyer?

Its’ a clitoral or nipple toy that uses a combination of pulsation and suction and is meant to be placed around the glans of the clitoris, or the nipple. It’s very gentle and subtle sensation, that on higher speed can become intense and powerful, but it’s very distinguishable from vibration. These toys also work great underwater. The closest way of describing it would be: it feels like someone performing really skillful cunnilingus on your clit.

What does the Penguin feature?

dscn3584The Penguin is a rechargeable waterproof toy, that’s made of silicone and ABS plastic. It comes in a nice box, sans a storage case, and features 11 speeds. While the 11 speed motor is a common feature of the other Satisfyers, the motors are all different for the different products (or at least, they feel different). While the Penguin is not as powerful as the original Satisfyer Pro 2, I think it’s as good an option, as the Pro 2. They’re just different, and I can’t necessarily rank one higher. The Penguin also has similar controls with the Pro 2 — one button for turning it on or off, and one for the speeds. Unfortunately the one button only circles through the speeds and cannot go back, unless you go to the highest setting, after which instead of going from 11 to 1, it starts slowing down: 11, 10, 9…. I find this really frustrating and annoying, because the speeds are so many that having to go all the way back from the start over can be exhausting. (Hence, my appreciation for the only model that has “+” and “-” controls.) It has a very comfortable to hold shape, the body of the toy is matte and totally non slippery, it’s lighter than the Pro 2 and is a little smaller, making it even even easier to take with you on a trip.

How is it different?

The Penguin comes at a slightly lower price-point. It lost the excessive noise of the motor and is now a much more discrete and non-distracting to use a toy. It’s slightly less powerful than the Pro 2, which I don’t mind, to be honest. The few highest programs of the Satisfyer Pro 2 were always a bit too much for me. The Penguin feels much more pinpoint and concentrated. It’s less overwhelming and is more gentle and nuanced.

The only thing to consider is the size of your clit and the size of the nozzle. While the opening of the nozzle is wider than the one of the original Satisfyer, the nozzle doesn’t have the additional patting covering a larger area. Which might make it unsuitable for people with larger clits, or ones who dislike too pinpoint stimulation.

Tips for using it

I am going to repeat most of the things I’ve already said about the other models. Add lube on your clit and vulva, as well as on the nozzle. Try combining wearing a butt plug, a vaginal egg or kegel balls while using the Satisfyer Pro Penguin, if you find clitoral stimulation unable to get you off alone. And definitely give it a spin underwater!

In conclusion

Satisfyer Pro PenguinThe Satisfyer Pro Penguin is a great gift for anyone who doesn’t already own a Satisfyer or a Womanizer. I would even recommend it to someone who wants to replace their older Satisfyer because of its noise levels. As with any other sex toy, there’s no guarantee it’s going to work for you or that you’re going to like it. But if you like receiving oral sex, or gentle clitoral stroking, chances are you might really like the Satisfyer Penguin. The positive reviews and feedback for these toys are far greater than the negative ones. The Satisfyer Penguin is probably one of the best models out of all. I love it’s shape, it’s matte material, its subtle pulsation. And the price of just $49 certainly doesn’t hurt either.

Satisfyer 2 Review

Satisfyer 2 Review

Many exciting and overwhelming things are happening in the world of sex toys at the end of this year. The Satisfyer released 4 new models of their pressure wave “vibrator”. After the success of the newest version of the Satisfyer Pro 2 I was wondering what they could improve or introduce. After all, the Satisfyer Pro 2 is really, really powerful. Its only downside is that it’s loud as f*ck. Luckily, my curiosity was satisfied (pun intended) when Peepshowtoys asked me if I wanted to review… ALL of the new Satisfyers. Yep, I mean… I had to. For… science. You know, people needed to know, so I had to have first… hand experience.

Thoroughly testing and comparing the new four models and the older Satisfyer Pro 2, made me wish I had an assistant to take notes as I was using them in the tub, in bed, and in every imaginable way. They were somehow so different from one another, yet similar. While I am not going to compare all five of them in this post, as this is something that I am going to leave for a completely separate article, I am going to make references to the different models, all of which you can find at Peepshowtoys. They not only carry all five models, but they offer very competitive prices for each of the toys.

Short intro into the models

Satisfyer 2 and Satisfyer Pro 2

Satisfyer 2 and Satisfyer Pro 2

There is the older, and currently most expensive model, Satisfyer Pro 2. It’s rechargeable, and it’s the most powerful one of the five. There are two new rechargeable models, the Satisfyer Pro Penguin and the Satisfyer Pro Deluxe. They’re slightly less powerful, but much less noisy than the Pro 2. The shape of their nozzle is very different though, and I am still doing some extensive testing (someone has to), as they differ in subtle ways. And there are two battery operated models, the Satisfyer 1 and the Satisfyer 2.

I am mainly going to compare the last two, since they’re in the same price-range, and they’re the only two that are battery operated. They both use 2 x AAA batteries and have 11 programs, but the Satisfyer 2 is a tiny bit more powerful, though definitely louder.

What’s the Satisfyer 2?

Satisfyer 2 ReviewIf you are unfamiliar with the world of pulsators, or pressure wave vibrators, all of the Satisfyers (as well as the Womanizers) work in a similar way. (It’s also worth noting that Womanizer sued Satisfyer for copying its technology.) They don’t vibrate, but instead slightly pulsate and apply a gentle suction. While the nozzle surrounds the clitoris and applies pulsations, at the same time the opening of the nozzle applies suction on the glans of the clit. It’s a really unique sensation different from any vibrator of form of play you’ve had. What the feeling is closest to is oral sex, but even the analogy with cunnilingus doesn’t really explain that well what the toy feels like. I’ve read a number of reviews and opinions, and a huge number of people have reported orgasming (and often just within minutes) solely with the toy, while others prefer it as a warm-up. And of course, there are people with really sensitive clit that didn’t like the sensation at all and found it overwhelming.

The Satisfyer 2 is a battery operated version of the toy. It’s roughly the same size as the Satisfyer Pro 2, but it’s lighter. As I said, it’s less loud than the Pro 2, but out of the new four models, it’s still the loudest one. It definitely doesn’t look like a sex toy, it’s really stylish and tasteful and comes in a beautiful classy box. The nozzle is made of silicone and can be removed for cleaning purposes. The nozzle of the Satisfyer 2 is the biggest of all, with a much bigger opening, so it’s able to stimulate a wider area. Which I think is a huge plus, as the opening of the nozzle of the original Satisfyer was way too small for most clits.

What are the advantages?

Both battery-operated toys are much cheaper and come at a very attractive price-point. The Satisfyer 2 sells for $35, while the Satisfyer 1 has a price tag of $29. Where the Satisfyer 2 shines, besides the size of its nozzle, is the fact that it has “+” and “-” controls, something that no other model features. And this is really helpful for a toy that has 11 modes. Circling through them and going back a notch is a pain with the other versions, and this is one of the primary reasons I can passionately recommend this model and I chose to review it first. Another great thing about it is that it’s still very powerful. I for one had no problem reaching an orgasm with it. And speaking of battery-operated toys: once it’s dead, all you need to do is put in a fresh set of batteries. You don’t have to wait to recharge the toy, you don’t have to worry about cords and outlets. Which does make it great for travelling.

What are the disadvantages?

All of the new models came out of the box with a harsh smell of chemicals. It might be because they’re super new and just came out of the factory, or it could be just a problem with the first batches. But it’s something I haven’t experienced with the Pro 2. The smell is getting fainter and fainter with time, but even after a few days and using it in the tub, it’s still there.

Tips on how to use it

Satisfyer 2 and Satisfyer Pro 2

Satisfyer 2 and Satisfyer Pro 2

All of the Satisfyers are waterproof and can be used in the tub. This is something that I am definitely going to recommend, because it’s a truly unique sensation. While the warmth of the bath helps with circulation (ergo, arousal), many people dislike vibrators in the tub because the stimulation is numbed by water. In the case of the Satisfyers, the stimulation is enhanced — less acute but more nuanced. It makes the Satisfyer feel like a gentle massager, it feels like someone going down on you or someone gently stroking your clit.

If you want to use it out of the tub or the shower, I would recommend lubing up your vulva, and squeezing some lube in and around the nozzle.

If you like vaginal stimulation and feeling full, you should try wearing kegel balls while playing with the toy. Or any vaginal egg. Maneuvering a dildo alongside any Satisfyer might be a tricky task, that’s why I recommend vaginal balls instead.

It also feels really good for nipple play. Just sayin’.

In conclusion

The Satisfyer 2 is one of the models I can easily recommend for several reasons. Battery-operated toys usually malfunction far less often than rechargeable ones, and you can keep enjoying the toy with new batteries (but, yes, we could use fewer batteries in the world…). It has a price-point of almost half the price of the Satisfyer Pro 2, it’s less loud and it’s almost as powerful. To be honest, it’s power-range is probably going to be enough for most people, because the last several speeds of the Pro 2 are way too strong. And it has “+” and “-” buttons to go back and forth in speeds, separate from the “on” and “off” button!

Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set Review

Jimmyjane After Dark

The horrors of holiday shopping and gift buying are upon us. And while a number of stores are still bombarding us with gendered gifts for “him” and “her”, Vibrant provides a gasp of fresh air. A sex-positive store that is gender-free and sells exclusively body-safe materials and high-quality toys. Vibrant is walking the walk only a few others are. Businesses need to walk that extra mile and stop the horrendous practice of “gifts for her” and “gifts for him”. When it comes to sex toys, we should focus on the body parts and bits one wants to have pleasured. While I’ve already written two gift-giving guides, for vulva-owners and for penis-owners, they didn’t contain any gift sets because I was trying to not go overboard with prices. I am also working on a guide that’s going to give you suggestions for couples’ and moresomes’ toys and gifts (and by “couples” I don’t mean just hetero couples). The Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set is definitely going to have a place in it.

The After Dark Gift Set contains one of the best products ever made by Jimmyjane — the glorious Form 2 clitoral vibrator (before they were bought by Pipedream, sad face). It also includes the Contour Ceramic Massage Stone, and the Afterglow Natural Massage Oil Candle.

The After Dark Gift Set

dscn3242

The set comes in gorgeous gift-like packaging, with a red ribbon and a limited edition red Form 2 vibrator. No need to worry about gift wrapping because you actually want to show off and display this pretty and stylish package. The box is really discreet and looks like a wellness or beauty gift set on the outside, so even if someone finds it, there is no way they can guess the sexy surprises inside.

The Jimmyjane Form 2

Form 2 is one of the most beloved clitoral vibrators on the market. Small, silicone, powerful, rechargeable, fully waterproof, quiet, multi-speed and actually really, really good. If I were to name a few toys that can be its competition, I would definitely have to mention the We-Vibe Tango and Touch, the Minna Limon and the Crave Duet. While the Tango and Touch don’t have really easy controls (they only have one button), the Form 2 has three super intuitive buttons that allow you to go back and forth from its 5 speed levels and 4 vibration patterns, a steady one and three pulsating ones. Another aspect that I hugely appreciate about the controls is that there’s no way I can accidentally turn off the vibrator, since it powers off by pressing the “-” all the way down, and powers up by pressing the “+” once. The third button controls the patterns.

Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set

But where Jimmyjane shines is by having two motors, one in each ear of the toy. And you can use it in several ways, one by placing the ears on each side of your or your partner’s clitoris, or by using just one of the ears (sideways) for more pinpoint stimulation. It’s a symphony of sensations, and as my primary partner quickly noticed, I seem to enjoy it much more than most other clitoral vibes.

Form 2 also holds its charge for a while. Supposedly this little fellow has juice for up to 4+ hrs, while my Touch and Tango usually die after an hour of use. So sometimes they die on me (even with a full charge) during the course of a single play session, a thing that has never happened to me with the Jimmyjane.

You can buy the Jimmyjane Form 2 separately in pink or charcoal gray for $149.

The Contour Ceramic Massage Stone

I have to be honest. I initially thought that this massager was useless, and pretty much something that I wouldn’t need. But before I discarded it as a stocking filler, or a gift-set filler, I gave it a try. I own a number of hand-held massagers, in different shapes, by different materials. And as it turns out, the Jimmyjane Contour is among the best ones I’ve had. It provides a broad enough stimulation on each of its 4 ends, perfect for sore backs, super tight legs from running or spinning, or just a nice massage night with your partner. It’s easy to hold, easy to use, you don’t have to apply a whole lot of pressure and strain yourself in order to actually make the other person feel something. And because it’s ceramic, it can be warmed up in a bowl of water, which overall makes any massager feel better, whether it’s for purely therapeutic purposes, or just to increase the circulation and get someone in a sexy mood. I find it easy to use on myself too — on my legs, shoulders, or on my lower back.

You can buy the Jimmyjane Contour separately for $25 from Vibrant (full retail price of $29.99).

The Afterglow Natural Massage Oil Candle

Jimmyjane After Dark Gift SetI love the smell of this Cocoa/Fig massage candle. If you are new to massage candles, they’re one of the best things invented. First of all, they’re a much better and safer alternative to wax candles. Regular candles can be dangerous for wax play, if you don’t know what you’re doing, or if the candle is not designed for that particular purpose. You can actually burn someone really badly. This is why oil candles are a perfect substitute. They get hot, but not dangerously hot, and they don’t create a HUGE mess. (If you’ve ever spilled wax on someone’s body, you know what a pain the clean-up after play is.) They are solid at room temperature, but upon contact with the skin or upon lighting them up they turn into oil.

The Afterglow is different from other massage candles in several ways (and I’ve used a fair number of massage candles by other brands). First of all, it comes in a sturdy ceramic jar that wouldn’t easily get knocked down, spilled or poured all over the place. It’s much less of a house fire hazard, and also easier to hold. Metal tins can get remarkably hot, which makes the whole task of pouring oil out of them really difficult and dangerous. The Afterglow candle even has a pour spout at one of the corners.

The candles contains Jojoba, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Soy and Aloe and leave the skin really nourished. It’s no-cruelty, paraben and petroleum-free. And smells really delicious!

This massage candle is not sold separately by Vibrant, although I hope they will start storing it at some point. Its retail price at other stores is $29.99.

In Conclusion

Jimmyjane Form 2The whole Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set can be purchased for $199, which doesn’t give you a huge discount on the products compared to buying them separately, but it’s really well packed and looks really beautiful and complete. The set also balances the sensual with the sexy, which is a great thing if you are buying a sex toy for someone for the first time.

B-Vibe Novice Plug Review

B-Vibe Novice, Trio and Rimming Plugs

Sex bloggers and toy reviewers have weird (to the outside world) goals in life. Trying out all Sliquid lubricants and owning the whole range of Njoy stainless steel toys can often be seen on sex geeks’ bucket lists. So you might think that trying out all b-Vibe butt plugs was among my sex toy goals. Funnily, I wasn’t purposefully trying to achieve this, it happened just like that. I was really impressed with b-Vibe’s first two models and I purchased them right away, as they came out. I am a sex educator and blogger who’s really involved and close to the community, and I often attends professional events. I got my Rimming Plug in April, at a sexuality conference, and funnily enough b-Vibe was exhibiting again in August — at an entirely different sex-positive conference organized by the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Foundation. This time around they had just launched the Trio Plug.

I really like companies that are engaged in meeting toy reviewers, getting their feedback, who attend sexuality events, and have an actual physical presence. They’ve donated prizes for raffles that were raising funds for organizations, they run an anal sex expert advice blog on their website, and their marketing is really inclusive. Each of their products brings innovation to the table and they’re truly trying to normalize butt play and educate people on how to have pleasant enjoyable experiences. Needless to say, I had to get each of their products.

Anal pleasure, depression and I

b-vibe Novice PlugOne of the reasons I so passionately started reviewing anal toys and exploring more and more butt play in my partnered and solo sex, was because I was experiencing difficulties climaxing from genital play. I’ve been taking SSRIs, a class of antidepressants that’s highly effective and most commonly prescribed, but often makes people experience sexual side effects, some of which are: decreased libido, reduced sensation in the genitalia and anorgasmia. In other words, I couldn’t come the ways I would normally come before the pills – from vaginal intercourse and combined with clitoral vibration.

Anal sex and butt toys opened new doors to pleasure and different sensations for me, someone who thought knew their own sexuality and pleasure response. Anal play is now a really vital part of my sex life. And I wish more people gave it credit and acknowledged how strong and delightful pleasure from butt stuff can be.

When it comes to butt play and toys there’s a vicious circle. Often sex toy companies are trying to promote it and invite people to explore it, but there are rarely beginners’ friendly anal toys. That only reinforces the myth that anal play is only for hard-core kinksters, men who have sex with men or some sort of advanced sex freaks. It reinforces the taboo and makes people think that this isn’t something for them. That it isn’t something that the average person could and should explore.

Enter b-Vibe Novice. Finally a premium brand that acknowledges that people have different needs and released a super newbie friendly high-quality anal plug.

What does Novice have to offer?

The Novice shares all of the b-Vibe previous selling points, such as: super soft and nice to touch body-safe seamless silicone. A rechargeable battery and a magnetic charger that actually holds onto the toy really tight and never stops charging it, a battery life of at least an hours of play on maximum speed. Not to forget the key feature of the plug — a remote control, which works up to 30 ft away! Did I mention the cool storage case, that looks super swanky and hi-tech?The Novice plug has 6 vibration levels and 15 vibration patters, which can be controlled independently with the help of the remote. This makes the plug really versatile and allows it to bring novelty to your butt play even if you get used to its size. The remote makes things just easy. Instead of having to reach back, and try to figure out buttons, you can be focused on the sensation and browse through the speeds and patterns. But it also makes a great tool for power play and public play. If you like (or have fantasized about) going out while wearing a vibrating vaginal egg, but you’ve always wanted to try that same thing with a plug too, the Novice is your best pick.

The Novice is just really comfortable to wear and use for longer periods. It has a flexible neck and a really small base (significantly smaller than the base of the Trio plug). It only holds one motor, but it’s very strong and quiet for the size of the toy. When placed inside, the Novice is practically silent.

So how beginner friendly is it?

b-Vibe Novice

The Novice has a diameter of 1″ or 2.5 cm, and has an insertable portion of 3″. So far I’ve used the plug on two partners, one penis-owner, and one vagina-owner, both of which were complete newbies to anal play. While one has only had a finger in their ass once, the other hasn’t had any sort of anal penetration, even with a pinkie. And I can happily report that taking things slow, turning them on, using enough longer-lasting water-based lube, such as Sutil or Sliquid Sassy, worked like magic. They could take the entire plug and actually really enjoy it, completely pain free. You are absolutely encouraged to take your time and just take portions of the plug the first several times.

How are the three models different?

b-Vibe Plugs

The line now consists of a small, medium and large plugs. And each of them has something different to offer. The Novice has one motor, but features 6 speeds and 15 patters. The Trio has three motors with 8 speeds and 9 patters. And the Rimming plug has one vibrating motor and one rotating one — the beads in the neck, with 6 speeds and 6 patterns.

Tips for beginners anal play

b-Vibe Novice PlugHere are a couple of basic recommendations to follow and keep in mind when exploring butt play for the first time. You should always have plenty of time and not rush through it. Block off good two hours for the first time you want to do any backdoor experiments. Get yourself a good glycerin-free water based lube. Use plenty of it during the session. Start with things that you normally like and get sufficiently turned-on by. Maybe even have one orgasm before taking anything inside of your ass (especially good advice for vulva-owners). Breathe slowly and relax completely. Start with a massage on the butt cheeks and around the butt-hole. Then by pointing the butt plug with 45 degrees angle – facing slightly upwards or downwards, not completely straight into the anus, start slowly inserting the well-lubricated tip of the plug while inhaling. You can turn on the vibration if that feels good, or just use it without any vibration for the first couple of time, if you just want to relax and enjoy the penetration. Often combining the insertion of the plug with genital play can make things much more easy, but you can always add that after the plug is completely inserted.

Once the plug is inside, let it stay put (unless it’s really uncomfortable and you want to take it out right away). Continue playing and enjoying other things. You can have vaginal intercourse while wearing the plug, you can give and/or receive oral sex, or you can simply place a vibe on your clit, balls, genitalia. Always wear the plug for short periods of time for the first couple of times, and build up to longer and longer wear.

When you remove the plug, take things as slowly as you did when you put the plug inside. Exhale deeply and loudly as you remove it, this will relax the muscles in a way that will make the removal of the plug much easier and more comfortable.

Where to get it

b-Vibe PlugsThe Novice plug has just been released by b-Vibe and right now you can only order it from their website in black or fuchsia. The Novice will hit the stores in Jan most likely and you will be able to find it at Good Vibrations, Babeland, The Pleasure Chest, Shevibe and other stores. It sells for $130. Which is a lot, but if you compare it with a good clitoral vibrator by a premium brand, it actually makes a lot of sense. The price is similar to these products and in exchange you get a travel case, a remote control and 1 year warranty.

My readers can get 20% off of the Novice from b-Vibe until Jan 1st. Discount applies only for the product, not the shipping. Use code WETLAND

TRUSKYN Tru Stroke Beaded Penis Stroker Review

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke Beaded

The name of this one is going to twist your tongue: Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Platinum Silicone: The Tru Stroke Beaded. That’s way too many words for a $19 toy. Looks like Doc Johnson really wanted to convince us that this product is in fact made of silicone, because they actually put “silicone” as part of the name of the toy. They’re absolutely correct, I am not so easily convinced. Even after reading the box, the name, the explanation, and the manual thoroughly, I still wasn’t sure if this was truly a silicone product. Why? Well, because Doc Johnson is well known for trying to trick people with “silicone blends” and all sorts of questionable business practices. After reading Dangerous Lilly’s post about other products of the Truskyn line, I was finally convinced, okay, this is silicone.

Sex toy materials

Why does this matter? In a nutshell, what your sex toys are made of is hugely important, because a number of products (and entire brands!) out there are made of porous materials, or ones that contain phthalates. Phthalates or phthalate esters are found in elastomers and are actually toxic for your body, especially in contact of mucous membranes, such as the penis, or the vagina. Most toys for penises, even if they’re phthalate-free are made of porous TPE or TPR, which are soft and pleasant to the skin, and feel squishy and highly realistic. But these can trap bacteria and put your body at danger, even if you thoroughly wash your toys and don’t share them with other people. Peepshow toys, one of my favorite online sex stores, has committed to not selling any porous sex toys. That’s why they don’t have a huge collection of strokers and masturbators; but everything they have is high-quality. One of the reasons I was excited that this penis stroker is actually silicone and body-safe, was because it’s affordable and pretty easy to use and clean.

A few words about penis masturbators

Penis sex toys that create the sensation of penetrating are called masturbators, sleeves or strokers. They usually look like a tube in which a person inserts their dick. Some are open ended (so the head of the penis can peek out of it), others are closed at the end and feel more like an orifice. Another type of penis toy is one that looks like a taco (Dangerous Lilly’s metaphor that I can’t refrain from using). Some people call it a manta ray. The Tru Stroke Beaded is a taco-style toy. It doesn’t cover the penis entirely, but this allows it to fit penises of different sizes and girths in particular. One can grab it and hold their grip more strongly for more intense sensations and make it feel tighter. Another huge advantage of toys of this shape is that cleaning them is a breeze!

The Tru Stroke Beaded

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke BeadedIt’s a fairly simple toy. The texture on the inside isn’t anything mind-blowing. If you come from a world of Tenga or Fleshlights (which are fairly more expensive, and are porous), this stroker isn’t going to feel as realistic, or as enjoyable. But I think it’s unfair to compare it with these since they’re an entirely different category.

From using this toy on a male partner, I can say that this stroker is one of the most fun ones to use together. I am a huge fan of mixing activities and taking blow jobs and hand jobs to the next level. Alternating the two, using lots of lube, sucking while stroking, stroking while playing with the balls, adding some vibration on the balls. I like using penis sleeves during play-time. But a bigger and more sophisticated toy such as a Tenga Flip Hole, or a Fleshlight, or the Fun Factory Cobra Libre can be really uncomfortable for me to use on a partner (as well as for a guy to use on themselves: I don’t know if you’ve touched a Fleshlight, but these things are enormous and super heavy). So something lighter, smaller, simpler, easy to operate, or just toss around — like the Tru Stroke Beaded — brings new sensations to the table but doesn’t feel clumsy or cumbersome.

Another feature of this sleeve is that it’s not too long and actually leaves the head of the penis outside of the toy (again, that depends on the length of the cock), so it can be easily combined with a blowjob and teasing the penis head with the tongue. The open side of the toy alongside the shaft is bare too; if you have the opening at the bottom, you can lick the frenulum of the penis (that little piece of skin on the bottom where the head of the penis meets the shaft), which is really sensitive and receptive to flickering with your tongue or to vibration.

The Tru Stroke Beaded stroker even comes with a storage bag and 1 oz of lube included. The lube sample has glycerin, so I’d pick a better lube from Peepshow toys (which only sell glycerin-free intimate products).

The feedback that I’ve received from my partner is that The Tru Stroke Beaded definitely feels better than just using hands for masturbation, but feels less like actually having intercourse than some penis toys. He personally is totally freaked out by “skin” tones of toys (including dildos), not to mention that the only skin tone that Doc Jonson offers is “vanilla”. But luckily, they have a red version of the toy as well. Apart from the look of the toy, he really enjoyed using it. And if you have any doubts whether a silicone masturbator is for you, don’t forget that the silicone they use has a softer and more squishy feel than regular silicone dildos do.

Tips for using the toy

Always warm up a masturbation sleeve before use. Regardless of the material, these things tend to feel cooler than body temperature (and that can spoil the mood, feel really unpleasant or even cost you your erection for a while). Putting it in a bowl of warm water does the trick, or just running some hot water from the sink over it. Always use lube with sleeves and strokers in order to avoid chafing and too much friction. It also feels more enjoyable and natural.

Doc Johnson TRUSKYN Tru Stroke BeadedThere is no such thing as “too many” when it comes to sex toys. Feel free to use other types of toys alongside it: vibration on the balls, a cock ring, a vibrating cock ring, a butt plug, a prostate massager. The more the merrier. Adding more sensations can completely up your solo sex game.

Strokers are also great for building stamina and learning about your orgasm, when your point of no return comes, and when to slow down in order to last longer. Strokers are by no means toys just for sexually active people, and they can absolutely be used by penis-owners who are virgin to partnered sex. They’re also a great way to postpone intercourse, if you have a partner who’s not ready to have sex but you like playing together and giving each other pleasure without going all the way.

Last words

I am thrilled that there’s a new affordable stroker on the market that’s body-safe and can fit different penis-sizes. In fact, Doc Johnson even released two of these, there’s a ribbed version of this penis stroker, called The Tru Stroke Ribbed, that also retails for $19. You can get both from Peepshow Toys. I think you can’t go wrong with any of these. They’re a great way of figuring out whether you like strokers and they’re an inexpensive purchase that can give you an idea whether they bring something extra during masturbation or as part of partnered sex.

Wetlandia’s very first blog post

njoy toys

Why did I decide to start a sex and human sexuality blog? It’s so, so simple. Because I really like sex. Nope. I actually deeply and profoundly love sex. I think it’s (or at least it should be!) one of the most beautiful, sacred, and transcendent experiences one can have in their lives.

I am sick of seeing sex dragged into the mud, frowned upon, denied and taken away from people. I am angry about having to apologize, having to be polite and “civilized”, having to censor myself. I am so tired of not being able to talk about sex. As freely, as often, as openly, as frankly, and as graphically as I wish.

I want to normalize sex. Because sex is normal and natural. And if people read more about it, if they saw it in its every-day glory, in its simple human side, maybe they wouldn’t beat themselves up for having certain thoughts or desires, or point a finger at one another, or bottle it up deep into their minds and souls.

I believe that everyone deserves pleasure and that we all have the human right of sexual health. But with it comes huge responsibility. Throughout life no one teaches us how to experience, ask for, or give pleasure. In fact what we learn is that pleasure is dirty and shameful, that our desires are wrong.

We all need allies and friends in the quest for better sex. We don’t just need resources or education. We need understanding, we need to remind ourselves that we’re not alone. We need to know that others make mistakes too, that others aren’t perfect. And just like you, I’ve succeeded but also failed a good number of times.

Why Wetlandia? I can’t quite remember how I came up with it. I knew I wanted a catchy and easy to remember name for my website, suggestive, but not too explicit. Enough to kindle one’s imagination, but leave it ambiguous enough that the thought of being caught at work reading it wouldn’t scare people away. Maybe it’s some reference to Alice in Wonderland. Maybe at the time I was reading about the striking wetlands of Pantanal in Brazil. But what made me choose it and stick with it was when I shared the name with my partner and asked him for some thoughts and feedback. His reaction was “well, it makes me thing of wet pu**ies”. And I said to myself – yes, that’s exactly what the world needs, that’s exactly what women (and men for that matter) deserve – more wet pu**sies. Wetter pu**ies.

Fast forward several months, and here we are today: after I’ve dealt (barely) with my inner demons, impostor syndrome, and the “who’s EVER gonna read my blog” crisis, writing my first blog post, having a website and getting sh*t done.

Let the journey begin…

(By the way, dealing with my demons took 4 months, creating the website, a logo, social media channels and all that took a week. Talk about your fears being your worst enemy.)
