Crave Duet Review

dscn3363-copy

Some things are so beautiful that one develops an unfathomable attraction to them. This is how my relationship with the Solo and the Duet by Crave began. It’s fair to say that I’ve been drooling over each and every single one of their creations. To me they are the perfect embodiment of kalokagathia, a concept developed in classical Greek, that mean beautiful and good, as two inseparable entities in one. There wasn’t a word that could better describe the Crave products. Designed and manufactured in California, by a responsible and highly-respected company, they were just visually perfect. Anything from their gorgeous bullet vibrator necklace Vesper, to the Duet, was aesthetically pleasing, a perfect harmony of shape, functionality and style. Zero bullshit. No made-up needs and functionalities.

As much as I loved my Vesper and its bold statement, I knew that the Duet was more powerful. It featured a turbo mode, and it was this striking beauty made of silicone and stainless steel. And it had two “arms” or “ears” which reminded me of the Jimmyjane Form 2. I imagined how perfectly they will surround my clitoris and the endless joys they will bring to it.

But first things first, what does the Crave Duet offer?

Crave Duet ReviewThe Duet is a handheld vibe, bigger than a bullet vibrator, but really comfortable to hold in just one hand. It’s 4.5″ long, 1.1″ wide and 0.5″ thick. It has 4 vibration modes, 4 power levels and its steady vibration offers a turbo mode as well (which is respectively more powerful than the 4th speed). It’s completely waterproof, and it doesn’t need a power cord at all, since it can be plugged directly into a USB port. It’s silent, rumbly and decently strong.

The two little “ears” are a little flexible, so they don’t apply pressure the way a bullet vibe does, or the way Form 2 does for that matter. What’s cool about that is that it actually feels like fingers embracing your clit, but ones that also vibrate. The sensation is really pleasant with a good amount of lubrication, because I can stroke my clit with the vibe in a unique way that no other toy offers.

How did it feel?

One thing that was a letdown and didn’t work really well for me is how close the two ears were to each other. That “pincer” shape is way too narrow, and I have a fairly small clitoral glans (the “nub”, or the external part of the clitoris). I can’t even imagine how it will possibly work for people with larger clits.

It surrounded my clitoris in a way that was too intense and even painful at times. While this shape worked really well in the Form 2, where the two motors were farther apart, the two sides of the Duet were too close for me to be able to comfortably use it. That might be exactly what would work for some people, but it was too pinpoint, too pinch-y and too direct for me. And I am someone who likes the highest speed of a Doxy Die Cast. I DO like strong vibrations, but the Duet turned out to be both not powerful enough, and not shaped in a way that would facilitate my orgasm.

Crave Duet ReviewAnd the same time, with enough lubricant on my clit, moving it left and right, similar to stroking my clit with hands, was quite enjoyable. Similar to the Form 2, it does have some really interesting patterns that bounce back and forth from the two ears, pulsate in an intricate way and amuse my clitoris like no other vibe. Does that make me orgasm? Not really, but it’s a fairly good for warm-up. And I have no doubt that many people will be able to orgasm with either just the patterns or the steady Turbo mode alone.

I also tried using it sideways, just one “ear” at a time. This wasn’t too successful for me either, because the Duet is flexible, so I can’t really press it against my clit or against one side of my clit to get off from it. It also tends to make a weird sound and kind of “struggle” if you press it too hard against the body. For some reason the motor doesn’t agree with being pressed against something.

The Crave Duet made a very interesting nipple vibrator though! If you pinch two parts together, it can become a handheld vibrating nipple clamp.

Usability and accessibility

While I love its beautiful little storage case, its size and the fact that it doesn’t even need a specific charger, there are features of the Duet that I find a little less appealing. While I always appreciate separate buttons for speed up and speed down, as well as a third one for moving between patterns, these three controls were all located on a tiny rectangular of 1.1″ by 0.5″. That makes everything a bit too difficult to press, locate and use. Especially for people with less dexterity, ones with arthritis or tendinitis. The Turbo mode was even less accessible, because on steady mode, after reaching the highest speed, one has to press steadily the “+” button for 2 additional seconds. In practice it’s even more complicated than it sounds.

In conclusion

dscn3366With a price point of $149, this clitoral vibrator is far from affordable or even thinkable for most people. And as much as I wanted, truly wanted, to love it, and as much as I hate to give Crave a “bad” or mixed review, I cannot easily recommend it to people. It’s too anatomically specific and there’s a huuuuge chance it’s going to be too narrow, pinchy and way too pinpoint for many people. And it’s not even the most powerful clitoral vibe I own or have tried, so even from the standpoint of power, I can’t easily tell people to go for it. I think other Crave products have far better success rate than the Duet. The Vesper necklace vibrator, the Crave Bullet or even the Solo will probably be a much more suitable choice for most, and at the cost of a much smaller risk of not fitting or working well for everybody’s anatomy (and some of them are half the price of the Duet). I am going to even throw the Tango as an option, a rechargeable waterproof vibrator by We-Vibe, much cheaper than the Duet and far more versatile and practical. I know that there are many people who’ve loved the Duet and as a matter of fact, it has mainly highly positive reviews at most retailer websites. But can’t possibly recommend a vibe of that price range that clearly isn’t going to fit far too many body types. While supposedly external vibes should be a category that’s far less dependent on one’s anatomy, the Crave Duet happens to be the exception.

You can get Crave at Vibrant or at Shevibe.

VeDO Bam Bullet Review

VeDO Bam Bullet

I love reviewing price-point items. Especially ones that surprise me in a good way. Sex toys keep getting further and further out of reach for the average customer. And this makes me sad, because A. everyone deserves better sex life, pleasure and orgasms, B. what if the toy doesn’t really work for you, you’re gonna through away in the garbage some 150 bucks? Luckily lately Peepshowtoys is trying to store more and more affordable, but high-quality products. And enter VeDO. Silicone rechargeable toys with non-scary price tags.

The VeDO Bam Bullet is a little powerhouse! While with it’s 1″ x 3.25″ it’s not a tiny bullet vibe that’s going to fit most of your bullet-compatible toys, Bam offers everything else you can possibly need. VeDO Bam is easy to hold, it’s rumbly and really strong, it’s rechargeable, waterproof and is made of silicone with ABS plastic button at the end.

VeDO Bam has 10 vibration modes, out of which only one is steady vibration. Instead of wasting your time with going through slower vibration settings, it goes straight to maximum power. Which is simply great, if that’s what your’e looking for. The rest 9 settings are different patters. Bam is easily one of the most powerful clitoral bullet vibrators I own, and luckily, it’s not buzzy and annoying.

While I cannot recommend it to people who like slower and milder vibration modes, since Bam simply doesn’t have them, if you are looking for intense rumbly power, from an affordable larger bullet vibrator, look no further. Bam comes in three colors: pink, purple and turquoise, and it’s very soft and smooth to touch. While it won’t fit in the hole at the bottom of your dildo, you can hide it in any of your pockets or glass cases, and discretely take it on your travels.

VeDO Bam sells for just $29 at Peepshowtoys and you can even take advantage of my 10% discount from them.

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2 Review

Updated on 12/19/2016.

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2

I’ve had my eyes on OhMiBod (aka LoveLife) toys for a while now. And one model in particular: the LoveLife Cuddle. I’ve read a great many positive reviews, and the price tag of $69 for a rechargeable vibrator just had me perplexed. How could a vaginal vibrator of such a small size get such great rating? Then OhMiBod added a bluetooth remote function and an app and called it blueMotion Nex 2. This made me extra curious to find out whether the Nex 2 was worth almost twice the Cuddle. Short answer: I  don’t think so. But we’ll get to that.

How similar is it to the Cuddle?

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2The blueMotion Nex 2 arrives in a stylish box (but not as small and cute as the one of the Cuddle) with a white satin storage bag.

It’s a small insertable vibe with an insertable length of 4″ and only 1.25″ of maximum girth in diameter. It has a nice and smooth silicone shaft and ABS plastic handle with three controls. It’s super easy to change speeds and vibration modes. It has 7 patterns, some of which are quite nice, and multiple speeds. It’s rechargeable, taking around 2.5 hrs to fully charge in exchange of up to 2 hrs of play. Unfortunately, it’s only splash proof, not submersible. Cleaning lube and vaginal fluids off the embedded OhMiBod letters in the silicone at he back of the toy can be a challenge. Why do companies keep making toys this way? Never mind… blueMotion Nex 2 and Cuddle are equally powerful, rumbly but quiet, and have an insanely good g-spot curve. It might not look like it, but it’s far more pleasant than many other g-spot vibrators I’ve used. It’s super easy to hold and use, and makes me orgasm both applied on my clit or in my vagina. So far, I give it 5 stars.

How does it feel?

Overall I am somewhat of a size queen. But I’ve noticed that often I like bigger objects vaginally just to make up for the lack of a g-spot curve. I squeeze my vaginal muscles around their shaft and this is how I end up applying pressure on my g-spot.

With the Nex 2 or the Cuddle, I don’t need any of that. Even its small size is enough to make me come because of how it’s shaped. But I often like using an additional clitoral vibrator, such as the We-Vibe Touch, alongside vaginal stimulation. But that’s just my jam, and that’s how I use most insertable vibrators or dildos.

What’s up with the blueMotion?

I don’t understand why they couldn’t call the Nex 2 simply Cuddle 2 to avoid the confusion. Confusion? Yes, because the blueMotion line has an entirely different toy, Nex 1, which is a pantie vibe. So, I almost got the wrong product. Names should help your purchasing experience, not have you Google things and research what’s what.

I don’t know who came up with the blueMotion line. The whole idea is that these vibrators can be controlled with the help of a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet. Cool, nothing unusual here. Many people like the We-Connect app by We-Vibe and it works well for playing with a partner around the globe or in a BDSM public play scenario. Having someone wear their toy while their partner controls it, is not a fundamentally new idea. But the Nex 2 is just a regular vaginal vibrator that can’t be worn outside for public play. And it’s a vibrator that has controls which work really well, as a matter of fact I couldn’t be more happy with its well-designed buttons. Which kind of defeats the purpose of a so-so app.

If you ask me, the hole point of having someone control the vibrations of an internal vibrator is a bit non nonsensical. A lot of the pleasure one derives from an internal vibrator is from the way one moves their wrists, how they control the shaft of the toy, how they thrust in and out — all of that. Having someone controlling your vibe from around the globe, or from a distance, unfortunately doesn’t make them really in control of your pleasure. It’s a better idea in theory than in practice.

Possible Applications

I completely admit that there are many scenarios in which it could be exciting to have someone control your vibrator for you. Whether you’re in a long distance relationship, or enjoy power play and orgasm denial, the app can give you an extra dimension and more opportunities to enjoy your time together or your time apart.

Cam girls could also use this vibrator as an opportunity to connect with their clients and allow a much more interactive experience.

The app

While the app itself is not bad, I wouldn’t say that it is that necessary to the average customer or that it brings much additional value to the toy (unlike an app controlled toy is exactly what you were looking for). One big downside of the app is that it doesn’t allow you to use the toy in a steady vibration setting or easily control the speed (the way the We-Connect app does, for example). It allows you to control a few patterns (and you already have patterns on the vibe), design your own pattern, or allow the toy to create a pattern via sounds — the pattern is controlled by the loudness of a voice, music or whatever you choose to play in the background. Again, in everyday life, many of these are just novelty aspects that don’t contribute that much to the experience in practice.

Did I mention that the app allows you to record your orgasms? It literally lets you set a weekly goal of how many times you want to come. What on earth? Why would I reach to my phone and mark down that I’ve had an orgasm. In an app. In a journal, maybe… I get it that some people like sex geekery and might be excited to record that, but for an extra $60? How about notepads? Virtual or analogue? Not to mention that this puts a whole lot of pressure on you. I don’t like the aspect of asking our bodies to perform a certain way, say, come a minimum number of time a week.

In conclusion

OhMiBod blueMotion Nex 2I find the upgrade OhMiBod gave to the Cuddle a bit unnecessary for the average customer. What you get extra is  an app that’s just okay. If you are in a long-distance relationship and want to have an internal vibe that your partner can control, I strongly recommend We-Vibe Rave that is slightly cheaper and is a mind-blowing toy, that also has a good g-spot curve, and a much better app. If you just want a good g-spot vibrator, get the Cuddle, it’s virtually the same toy as Nex 2 sans the app. By all means, if you  can afford the Nex, and if you like the few extra functionalities, Nex 2 is still a good overall product. And it still manager to be cheaper than most rechargeable silicone brands, some of which don’t even come with a storage case, let alone an app. The blueMotion Nex 2 will set you back $129, while the Cuddle is just $69 and totally rocks. If you are struggling financially, don’t despair, the Cuddle is an utter delight!

Good Vibrations constantly run sales and deals and you can find their current promotions either on their website, or in my “SALES” section.

Fun Factory Cayona Review

Fun Factory Cayona Vibrator

It’s not often that I absolutely love a vibrator that doesn’t really do what it’s supposed to. But it does so many other things so impressively well, that it won my heart the first time it touched my lady bits. Fun Factory Cayona is nothing short of an amazing g-spot and vulva vibrator — which for some reason is trying to be a dual vibrator. I wouldn’t have even figured this out if I didn’t read the description of the product, which says that it’s supposed to stimulate the clitoris as well as the g-spot. This it does not, but with all this in mind, I absolutely love it and am not even really disappointed that it’s not a rabbit vibrator.

When one of the companies I work frequently with, Peepshowtoys (kind to send me so many toys to review), asked me if I wanted to review the Cayona by Fun Factory, I couldn’t type “YES” fast enough. Why was that? First of all… well… Fun Factory! Duh! If you are not familiar with the world of sex toys, Fun Factory is a premium sex toy brand, made and designed in Germany, with really good quality products, joyful colors and wonderful shapes. And most of their sex toys are constantly on my wishlist.

What Is Cayona?

Cayona is a vibrator that looks like a vulva. Need I say more? It’s just so beautiful it makes me squeal every time I look at it. Not only does it look like a vulva, but it’s a great vulva vibrator, as well as a vaginal vibrator. For those of us damaged by the non-existent sex-ed in school and throughout adult life: vulva is everything on the outside, including labia majora a labia minora and the clitoris; vagina is the internal organ where penetration happens. Because Cayona is shaped like a vulva, it rests perfectly well on the vulva. Which is great if you like external vibration that’s not just concentrated on the clit. Technically any internal vibrator can be placed over the vulva, but the Cayona is squishy, soft and modeled in a way that just fits insanely well.

Fun Factory CayonaVibrations on the vulva, not just on the clitoris itself, can be extremely beneficial to people who dislike direct or pinpoint clitoral vibration, but also ones that like their entire genitalia played with and stimulated. The clitoris is not just a knob; what we see on the outside is just the glans of the clitoris, not the entire organ. The clit has “legs” deeper inside the body, on each side of the vaginal opening. So, vibration on a broader genital area can work really well for both arousal and achieving orgasm.

While using a vibrator over the vulva will block your vaginal opening (so it cannot be used alongside a dildo or during penetration), you can combine the Cayona with kegel balls or a vibrating egg internally. Or just enjoy the external stimulation.

Apart from pleasuring my vulva, Cayona is great for vaginal (internal) use. It’s neither a super long nor a very girthy vibrator with its insertable 4″ and a diameter of 1.5″, but its gentle g-spot curve and rumbly vibrations are all I needed. These days I find super pronounced g-spot curves too much, and the sensation can be almost painful. The Cayona will stroke your g-spot instead of jamming it directly. Thrusting in and out, or twisting the handle clockwise or counterclockwise does the trick perfectly.

You will need a lot of lube for vaginal play, because the Fun Factory silicone is a little draggy. Use a good amount of body-safe water-based lubricant with it. Unlike most silicone vibrators, Cayona is not just covered in a thin layer of silicone, which would make it feel almost like plastic. It’s softer and squishier, has a little bit of bend to it and feels much more natural. At the same time it does apply enough pressure on the g-spot to actually make you come.

What Does It Offer?

The Fun Factory Cayona is nothing short of a premium vibrator by a reputable brand. It’s entirely waterproof and submersible, it’s rechargeable with the help of a magnetic charger (no wall adapter included, just the USB cord), and it has a 1-year warranty. It offers deep and rumbly vibrations, has 6 speeds and 6 patterns and, thank god, it has a travel lock. It’s relatively quiet — I’ve heard people complain about the noisiness of other Fun Factory toys, but the Cayona is not one of them. It doesn’t come with a storage bag (Fun Factory toys never do, sad face), but the packaging is stylish and not too pretentious; it’s not very heavy, nor takes a whole lot of space. And it comes in 4 beautiful pale pastel colors: yellow, green, blue and pink.

So What Doesn’t Work?

dscn3263This vibrator is definitely not a rabbit vibrator. The little pearl that it has (the one that looks like a clit) cannot reach the actual clitoris in any possible way while inserted. Again, I don’t think this is a big deal, because this vibe delivers many other sensations. But if you’ve purchased it with the idea of using it as a rabbit, this might be a letdown. If you are looking for a rabbit vibe, I’d recommend checking out at the Fun Factory Miss Bi.

In Conclusion

Cayona is a stunning silicone rechargeable vibe with a firm core and flexible softer coating. It has multiple speeds, and it can be used in the tub or the shower. And it’s rumbly! Unless you are looking for a much bigger, longer and girthier vibrator, Cayona is a great choice. It also doubles as a vulva vibrator: just place it over your labia and clit and enjoy the broader external vibrations. Did I forget to say that it’s just $99? And you get 10% off from Peeshowtoys. And it qualifies for free shipping. Just sayin’! (wink)

Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set Review

Jimmyjane After Dark

The horrors of holiday shopping and gift buying are upon us. And while a number of stores are still bombarding us with gendered gifts for “him” and “her”, Vibrant provides a gasp of fresh air. A sex-positive store that is gender-free and sells exclusively body-safe materials and high-quality toys. Vibrant is walking the walk only a few others are. Businesses need to walk that extra mile and stop the horrendous practice of “gifts for her” and “gifts for him”. When it comes to sex toys, we should focus on the body parts and bits one wants to have pleasured. While I’ve already written two gift-giving guides, for vulva-owners and for penis-owners, they didn’t contain any gift sets because I was trying to not go overboard with prices. I am also working on a guide that’s going to give you suggestions for couples’ and moresomes’ toys and gifts (and by “couples” I don’t mean just hetero couples). The Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set is definitely going to have a place in it.

The After Dark Gift Set contains one of the best products ever made by Jimmyjane — the glorious Form 2 clitoral vibrator (before they were bought by Pipedream, sad face). It also includes the Contour Ceramic Massage Stone, and the Afterglow Natural Massage Oil Candle.

The After Dark Gift Set

dscn3242

The set comes in gorgeous gift-like packaging, with a red ribbon and a limited edition red Form 2 vibrator. No need to worry about gift wrapping because you actually want to show off and display this pretty and stylish package. The box is really discreet and looks like a wellness or beauty gift set on the outside, so even if someone finds it, there is no way they can guess the sexy surprises inside.

The Jimmyjane Form 2

Form 2 is one of the most beloved clitoral vibrators on the market. Small, silicone, powerful, rechargeable, fully waterproof, quiet, multi-speed and actually really, really good. If I were to name a few toys that can be its competition, I would definitely have to mention the We-Vibe Tango and Touch, the Minna Limon and the Crave Duet. While the Tango and Touch don’t have really easy controls (they only have one button), the Form 2 has three super intuitive buttons that allow you to go back and forth from its 5 speed levels and 4 vibration patterns, a steady one and three pulsating ones. Another aspect that I hugely appreciate about the controls is that there’s no way I can accidentally turn off the vibrator, since it powers off by pressing the “-” all the way down, and powers up by pressing the “+” once. The third button controls the patterns.

Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set

But where Jimmyjane shines is by having two motors, one in each ear of the toy. And you can use it in several ways, one by placing the ears on each side of your or your partner’s clitoris, or by using just one of the ears (sideways) for more pinpoint stimulation. It’s a symphony of sensations, and as my primary partner quickly noticed, I seem to enjoy it much more than most other clitoral vibes.

Form 2 also holds its charge for a while. Supposedly this little fellow has juice for up to 4+ hrs, while my Touch and Tango usually die after an hour of use. So sometimes they die on me (even with a full charge) during the course of a single play session, a thing that has never happened to me with the Jimmyjane.

You can buy the Jimmyjane Form 2 separately in pink or charcoal gray for $149.

The Contour Ceramic Massage Stone

I have to be honest. I initially thought that this massager was useless, and pretty much something that I wouldn’t need. But before I discarded it as a stocking filler, or a gift-set filler, I gave it a try. I own a number of hand-held massagers, in different shapes, by different materials. And as it turns out, the Jimmyjane Contour is among the best ones I’ve had. It provides a broad enough stimulation on each of its 4 ends, perfect for sore backs, super tight legs from running or spinning, or just a nice massage night with your partner. It’s easy to hold, easy to use, you don’t have to apply a whole lot of pressure and strain yourself in order to actually make the other person feel something. And because it’s ceramic, it can be warmed up in a bowl of water, which overall makes any massager feel better, whether it’s for purely therapeutic purposes, or just to increase the circulation and get someone in a sexy mood. I find it easy to use on myself too — on my legs, shoulders, or on my lower back.

You can buy the Jimmyjane Contour separately for $25 from Vibrant (full retail price of $29.99).

The Afterglow Natural Massage Oil Candle

Jimmyjane After Dark Gift SetI love the smell of this Cocoa/Fig massage candle. If you are new to massage candles, they’re one of the best things invented. First of all, they’re a much better and safer alternative to wax candles. Regular candles can be dangerous for wax play, if you don’t know what you’re doing, or if the candle is not designed for that particular purpose. You can actually burn someone really badly. This is why oil candles are a perfect substitute. They get hot, but not dangerously hot, and they don’t create a HUGE mess. (If you’ve ever spilled wax on someone’s body, you know what a pain the clean-up after play is.) They are solid at room temperature, but upon contact with the skin or upon lighting them up they turn into oil.

The Afterglow is different from other massage candles in several ways (and I’ve used a fair number of massage candles by other brands). First of all, it comes in a sturdy ceramic jar that wouldn’t easily get knocked down, spilled or poured all over the place. It’s much less of a house fire hazard, and also easier to hold. Metal tins can get remarkably hot, which makes the whole task of pouring oil out of them really difficult and dangerous. The Afterglow candle even has a pour spout at one of the corners.

The candles contains Jojoba, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Soy and Aloe and leave the skin really nourished. It’s no-cruelty, paraben and petroleum-free. And smells really delicious!

This massage candle is not sold separately by Vibrant, although I hope they will start storing it at some point. Its retail price at other stores is $29.99.

In Conclusion

Jimmyjane Form 2The whole Jimmyjane After Dark Gift Set can be purchased for $199, which doesn’t give you a huge discount on the products compared to buying them separately, but it’s really well packed and looks really beautiful and complete. The set also balances the sensual with the sexy, which is a great thing if you are buying a sex toy for someone for the first time.

Gift-Giving Guide: What to Get Your Partner if They Have a Vulva?

Best Sex Toys for Women

These gift-giving guides are proving to be a really hard work. Duh! But I hope they’re a helpful resource and will guide you through the tricky times of BLACK FRIDAY SALES.

Welcome to Part 2 of this shopping recommendation bonanza. Today we’re going to talk about toys for those with vulvas. Whether you’re shopping for yourself, or you’re shopping for your girlfriend, mother, sister, or wife, I am going to do my best to help you budget your purchases, as well as figure out what might be the toy that best meets your needs. Sex toys are the best gift a girl can receive, but often partners are completely clueless what to pick. If you don’t want to receive a tacky jelly rabbit vibe, maybe you can accidentally on purpose send this article to your loved ones. I’ve tested most of these toys and I’ve consulted other reviewers who have first hand experiences with them. So let me sherpa your way to the instant (well, almost, unless you are buying from a brick and mortar store) gratification that sex toy shopping can be.

All of these categories start with the lowest price, but without putting your health at risk. An important thing to try to remember when shopping for sex toys: always avoid things that look suspiciously cheap. I’ve only included body-safe options in this list, but if you wanna do your own shopping, please stick to these materials.

If you missed part 1, Gift-Giving Guide: What to Get Your Partner if They Have a Penis?, you can always check it out here.

Wand Vibrators

4. Mystic Wand Rechargeable for $95.95 from Good Vibrations. As I mention in my review of this wand, it’s less powerful than the Magic Wand Original, but it’s much easier to hold, it’s smaller and lighter and it’s not as overwhelming. It’s rechargeable, but if you run out of juice, you can use it plugged in the cord. It’s really sleek and pretty. No attachments available.
5. Lovehoney Desire Wand for $99 from Lovehoney. Silicone, multi-speed and rechargeable. Not compatible with Magic Wand attachments.
6. Sola Egg Massager Passion Set Set for $119.99 from Shevibe. I’ve reviewed the Passion Set and it comes with two extra silicone attachments included. Sola Egg Massager is a super small handheld cordless wand with removable silicone head. Magic Wand attachments fit great on it too.

The Rabbit Ears by The Rabbit Company Review

Updated on 12/12/16.

The Rabbit Ears by The Rabbit Company Review

The Rabbit What…?!

The Rabbit Company is a sex toy manufacturer that only makes rabbit vibrators — by which they mean vibrators that have ears. They have a number of dual-stimulators (imagine a classic rabbit vibrator) but they also make a number of handheld external vibes that have two ears.

I am going to address the elephant in the room: almost all of their products resemble other companies’ toys, and we don’t see a whole lot of actual innovation and much of product development. Most of their products have the shafts of Lelo Ina, Mona or Lelo Loki, meshed with an external arm of a Vibratex rabbit: with actual ears and all. Others simply don’t make any sense (a wand vibe that’s also a rabbit vibe). Their pocket vibrators remind us of Love Crave Duet. And even though they carry their products in other colors, all you will see on their website is bright pink. Despite the somewhat tacky marketing, website and product design (back to the 90s??), they went for Lelo prices and even placed themselves at higher price-points than We-Vibe or Je Joue. Lelo hasn’t been a great company lately (a lot of people just don’t want to buy Lelo anymore), so in a way I can’t be entirely upset with The Rabbit Company for replicating their truly genius Mona shaft. And to be fair, they have several models that are not entirely inspired by other companies, such as their G-spot rabbit, the Lay-on Rabbit and the Rabbit Ears.

Out of the above I was truly curious about the Rabbit Ears. Emmeline Peaches reviewed quite positively the Lay-on Rabbit, so I went for the more flexible Rabbit Ears. The Rabbit Company only makes body-safe sex toys that are rechargeable and come with a 5-year warranty, which is not a bad place to start in an industry that’s been poisoning their clients with toxic materials and offensive marketing.

The Rabbit Company products are well made and are mostly visually appealing (not the dazzling, sparkly editions covered in crystals, God no). They come in a stylish packaging that only has an image of the bunny on white background and a list of the key features of the product.

What is the Rabbit Ears?

The Rabbit Ears is a small, handheld external vibrator. It’s made for external stimulation on the clitoris and other erogenous zones. It’s longer than traditional bullet vibes and the motor is located in the shaft of the toy, so either the shaft can be used directly or the little ears at the end can be placed on the clit. I like the idea of unbundling the rabbit ears from the rabbit vibe, because a lot of folks actually really like the little soft ears but prefer using a dildo separately. Rabbits rarely work for most people.

The toy is made of matte silicone (it only comes in pink or purple). It’s easy to use and the shaft is long enough to hold it in place, but at the same time the total size of the product makes it a good travel vibe. It fits in a small purse and it’s very light. A downside is that it doesn’t come with a storage bag (which is something that I’d expect for this kind of price). It’s rechargeable and waterproof (but should not be submerged for more than 15 min).

How does it behave?

What I like about the motor and the programs is that it has 10 different speeds. And no patterns! YAY! And it has “+” and “-” controls, so you can go back and forth in speeds. There is nothing more annoying than toys that only have, say, 3 speeds and a bunch of patterns; or single control toys. The motor is powerful though a little loud (it’s on the buzzier side).

I like using the Rabbit Ears for warm up, since I prefer pressing a vibrator against my clit, and the little bunny ears are way too flexible for me to properly enjoy the toy. If you prefer softer and more subtle materials, or if you don’t take well to pinpoint stimulation, this toy might be a great star of the show. It’s also not a vulva-hog, so there’s enough space to use it clitorally and at the same time thrust in with a dildo vaginally.

The reason I cannot fully recommend this toy is that we live in a world where We-Vibe Tango costs $79. And Tango is without a doubt much more rumbly and deep, it’s fully waterproof and might work for more people. But if soft bunny ears do the trick for you (say, more so than bullet vibrators), the Rabbit Ears could be the way to go for you. Now Shevibe carries The Rabbit Company and the Rabbit Ears sell for $89.99.

Sola Egg Massager Passion Set Review

dscn3006

If I were to describe the Sola Egg Massager in a few words it would be: a powerhouse in a palm-sized vibrator. I mean Magic Wand-like power.

Sola is a relatively new company in the sex toy industry and they’re known for their Sola Sync Wand vibrator and the Sola Egg Massager. They offer a few other vaginal or dual vibrators as well. Their focus is technology, innovation and body safety. I have to say that most of their designs intrigue me deeply because they’ve truly brought new things to the table: not your typical wand vibrator, and definitely not your usual small clitoral vibe. They have a simple design and no unnecessary details or features. Nothing too extravagant. In fact, their products as well as their marketing remind me much more of the wellness business than the adult industry.

Packaging

Their packaging is absolutely gift-like. No yuck factor, nothing explicit, vulgar or distasteful. Sola is classy, stylish and non-threatening. In fact, their products come in one of the most beautiful boxes I’ve seen lately. Not to mention that there is no disgusting sleazy copy on the box or their website. Somehow I feel the need to mention this because lately we’ve witnessed a number of companies acting like jerks and I am kind of losing my patience. The focus on pleasure is still there, but without rubbing it in your face. Everything you need to know about the product is on the box, in short bullet points.

The box contains everything one will need. I really mean everything. The Sola Egg Massager, its charging dock, the attachments, a user guide, a charging cord AND a wall adapter, as well as a pouch for storage. See? Everything. These days I really appreciate all the details and I have to hi-five companies that walk the extra mile to provide everything you need. The storage bag makes it so easy to keep the toy nice and dust free, and helps you tell it apart from other products in your collection.

Key features

The Bunni Sleeve Sola Egg MassagerThe Sola Egg Massager comes in two versions. The Passion Set has three attachments and that’s the one I am currently reviewing, while The Wellness Set only has two attachments, the original Swedish Sleeve that both sets share (the purple and smooth one) plus the Shiatshu Sleeve. The additional two attachments included with the Passion Set are the Bunni Sleeve and the Omi Sleeve. All of these massager heads are silicone and removable. And I need to highlight how soft and nice their silicone feels against my skin!

The whole toy is entirely water-proof and immersible, which makes it really easy to clean and sanitize, as well as play in the tub with it, if that’s your thing. The Sola Egg Massager is rechargeable and has a battery life of 1.5 hours and 3 hrs full cycle charging time. It also has a travel lock that doubles as speed lock. Since the Sola Massager doesn’t have any “+” or “-” controls, it only responds to pressure; but you can lock it on the desired speed and not worry about the pressure you’re applying.

Using it

I love powerful and strong vibrations. And I hate having the dilemma of how to take a Magic Wand or a Doxy on a trip. Sola Egg is that perfect little sibling of the big wands, it still has the big broad head without sacrificing power or quality. The Sola Egg Massager is like a travel Hitachi. It’s great for anything from a good back massage to shattering clitoral stimulation. At the same time, if you are not a power queen, Sola has delicious low-level vibrations that are rumbly and deep. You can even create patterns by applying different pressure and moving the toy around.

The attachments make it even more versatile, and luckily most Magic Wand attachments work on it great too. Some of the attachments by other brands I had to put over the original Swedish sleeve, others fit right on top of the toy.

The tricky part is that even with the additional attachments the toy doesn’t respond as well to pressure (apart from the Shiatsu sleeve from The Wellness Set). With the Bunni or the Omi sleeves I had to actually press the toy hard with my palm, get to the speed I needed, lock it down, and then move towards playing. Overall, the Sola Egg Massager is responsive but the responsiveness works better with the original sleeve that is flat and has most direct contact with your body.

I am not a huge fan of attachments or vibes like the Bunni sleeve (the pink one with the two ears), because they somewhat don’t work for my clit. But if you like your clit being surrounded by vibration on each side, without any direct contact with the nub of your clit, the Bunni might be just the right thing for you. The Omi sleeve does give a more pinpoint stimulation, and can be used vaginally as well. I am really happy that these are made of silicone and are entirely body-safe because there are plenty of porous wand attachments out there. Having extra sleeves included with the toy makes it much more versatile and interesting for different kinds of stimulation.

Don’t be fooled that the Sola Egg Massager is just a clitoral toy. It’s great for penises, balls and a perineum massage. The Omi sleeve can be used anally as well. And something else I’ve discovered is how well the Hammerhead (or Hummingbird) attachment from Kink Lab works with Sola. The Hammerhead is a penis stroker or masturbator sleeve that transfers the vibrations from the massager. And it fits perfectly on top of the Egg Massager! Which is freaking great, because that gives me (if I am in charge) or the penis-owner much more control and an easier hold, versus using the Magic Wand for this particular job.

Great things about it

As I’ve mentioned, it’s rare that a toy this strong is small and easy to carry with you. In my book that gets a lot of extra points. It also doesn’t look like a sex toy at all, it’s really pretty in it’s charging dock, and it’s just made really well. It delivers that positive overall experience that we’re all seeking from a high-end product. Did I mention that it comes with a 5-year warranty???

Things that need improving

If I were to address a few issues… The noise is less bugging and annoying when the toy is pressed really hard against my body, but if it loses contact for a bit it sounds like a jackhammer (well, maybe not exactly), which is very distracting. And my second beef with it is that it needs a lot of pressure. I would be really happy if it was a little more responsive and required less pressure in order to reach the highest vibration speeds.

Sola Egg Massager Passion Set can be purchased from Shevibe for $119.99 or directly from Sola’s website.

Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review

Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review

My relationship with the Mystic Wand Rechargeable began even before owning one. Years ago I read Epiphora’s review of the Mystic Wand, a small, lighter, battery-operated and cordless cousin of the Hitachi Magic Wand, that she and many others loved. I was always envious of cool US brands that were impossible or difficult to find in Europe. Sure, the Mystic Wand looked ridiculous, as many early Vibratex creations, such as the original Rabbit Habit vibrator. Apparently my patience has been rewarded, because Vibratex finally came up with a rechargeable, non-90’s-looking version of the Mystic Wand.

How is it different than the original one?

Well… as the name suggests it’s rechargeable. No more 4 x AAA batteries. But what’s even more important is that you can use the toy plugged in the outlet. Yes, you can use it while it’s charging! Which isn’t how most rechargeable vibrators work. And I am really grateful for this feature, because I can totally use less “when is it gonna die???” anxiety in my life (which by the way is a real thing). Another thing that’s significantly improved is the design. More ergonomic, more body-friendly, more crip-friendly (and I am throwing myself in this category too, as I suffer from several conditions that make holding an object for extended periods of time painful and sometimes impossible). And as someone pointed out in the comment section of another review of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable, the new shape is great for people with short hands!

Packaging

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable comes in a plain box that doesn’t suggest it’s a sex toy, unless you read the back of the box where the word “lover” will hit you in the face. I am not even going to comment on this horrible copy that is shaming men, scratch that, shaming every human partner, for being bad lovers and calls the toy the best one you can possibly have. Even if a someone thinks that their Hitachi is their ideal boyfriend, there’s a difference between standing up for yourself, knowing what you want and taking care of your own needs, (Yay feminism!) and when a sex toy company is trying to shame your partners for simply not being good enough.

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable comes with a charger, a wall adapter, and an instruction leaflet with pretty much the same copy as the box.

Features

Luckily, once you’re done with the packaging, everything else gets better (I hope you’re one of these people who doesn’t read boxes and instructions and just jumps right at the gadget itself.) The new Mystic Wand is silicone, very soft and nice to touch and it doesn’t look tacky at all (bravo, Vibratex, you’ve learned your lesson). The toy is splash-proof which means that you cannot submerge it in water, but you can briefly wash it. You will only need soap and water to clean the toy, again: I would steer clear of running water directly over the controls. The battery takes between 2 and 3 hrs to charge completely, which will give you 40 to 90 min of play. After that: just plug and play.

Well done, Vibratex, well done!

What I love about it is how travel-friendly it is. It’s 9 inches in total length with a head of 1.9 inches by 2.25 inches. And it’s super light! Tantus-Rumble-light! It doesn’t look like a vibrator, so taking it through security wouldn’t give you too much of a headache and unpleasant interactions with TSA agents.

Mystic Wand Rechargeable ReviewI think they’ve done a really good job in terms of ergonomics. The handle curves towards you, and is easy to hold. What’s interesting is that they’ve added extra controls in 2 other places. You have the main on/off at the front, and you have a button that says “F” (which apparently stands for “function”, not for “fuck”). But at the back of the toy there are two more “F” buttons that do the same, but are located one at the end of the handle, and one closer to the base for your convenience. I think this isn’t a bad idea, because everyone holds their toy in a different way. So far I haven’t had negative experiences of changing the setting by accident. I just wish that with all these buttons, there was one that could take you back in the 3 speeds and 3 patterns. It only goes one way, which means you need to circle through the 6 modes, if you missed your jam.

The neck of the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is just slightly flexible, which works great for me, because it gives me enough pressure, without being too unpleasant and too rigid against my body, given that the head is fairly firm. Other bloggers have reported that they don’t like the ridges and the insane number of seams on the toy. It can certainly get annoying and cleaning can be a huge pain, if you are using lots of lube in your play sessions. The way I use wands and clitoral vibrators is with zero lube, because I actually like a little drag. I like positioning the toy in one place and having it there, while applying different amount of pressure. I can’t come if my clitoral toy is too slippery, it just keeps missing the “right” spot for me, if there’s any lubrication. But I know a number of people who are too sensitive and cannot have any external vibration without lube. Avoid silicone-based lube with this vibrator and stick to a good water-based lube.

At use

The Mystic Wand Rechargeable is fairly rumbly and strong for a light rechargeable toy. It doesn’t have the “umph” of the Magic Wand, or the Doxy, but it is strong enough to please most people. When compared to Tantus Rumble, which also has 3 steady vibration modes and a few patterns, the Mystic Wand Rechargeable is slightly more powerful. The head is also not as wide and broad, which might work for more people, as it gives a good balance between broad and pinpoint vibrations. The vibe is not whisper quiet by any means, but it’s also far from distractingly noisy.

Mystic Wand Rechargeable Review

The toy itself is very gender neutral (and I wish they’d edit the copy, so more penis-owners will embrace it). It’s a great toy for any body and any equipment. My penis-owning partner loves it, because he can’t take more powerful wands, but he likes vibrations a lot. The Mystic Wand Rechargeable provides him with that perfect range of vibrations and speed that is neither “I don’t feel a thing”, not “Ouch, get that thing away from me!”. It feels really great on his balls and on his shaft.

Last words

I was really pleasantly surprised by the Mystic Wand Rechargeable. Despite thinking that it wasn’t powerful enough  at first, after having used it for a while, I now appreciate that it actually has enough power for a number of situations. It’s not heavy and thuddy, but it’s also not meant to be a Magic Wand replacement. It’s a light, travel-friendly, less powerful vibrator, that is probably going to work for more people and more bodies than the Magic Wand or the Doxy. It’s also cheaper than the said toys, and you can get it for $95.95 (available only in black) and free shipping from Good Vibrations.

Good Vibrations constantly run sales and deals and you can find their current promotions either on their website, or in my “SALES” section.

Tantus Rumble Vibrator Review

Tantus Rumble

The Company

Do you know one of the best perks of moving from Europe to the US? You can easily buy Tantus products! I am not kidding. Almost nothing beats that. When I moved to the States months before I even relocated, I ordered a bunch of dildos. You know, so they’d be waiting for me when I arrived. To make me feel at home. For years I’ve been reading reviews by Epiphora and drooling after Tantus’ silicone. Now I could finally have it!

They’re a company that always has been 100% body-safe. Tantus is the first one to make their entire line of products of silicone, and we’re not talking about a company created a couple of years ago, we’re talking about almost 20 years ago! To have 100% silicone toys in ’97 is no joke. They’ve always been a trend setter. Their unique designs, beautiful colors, and gender-free marketing have won the hearts of many. Including mine!

I heard about Rumble, their first vibrator (not counting the little Tantus bullets that are included with their vibrating dildos or plugs), last year at Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit ’15. Back then I barely knew anyone, I didn’t mix and mingle with the crowd, let alone be brave enough to talk to Metis Black, founder of Tantus. The reality is that small, independent businesses nowadays often need crowdfunding to bring innovation to life and be able to mass-produce or even do the research to create a product. That’s been the case with Eva by Dame, the Mystery Vibe, Minna Limon, and now Funkit Toys. Luckily, people were awesome and responded really well in all these cases. Rumble started shipping out this spring first to its original backers, and by this summer one could find Rumble in every responsible sex store.

Everything that I’ve read about it though, didn’t prepare me for the actual product that I touched in the bloggers’ lounge a year later at Woodhull SFS16. The Rumble was… feather-light. I couldn’t believe it. How could that be? And so comfortable! It fitted so well in my hand. Like a natural extension.

Ergonomics

Tantus RumbleThis product is made with so much thought and attention to detail. The shape of the handle, the location of the buttons: everything is made to perfection (not to mention that it looks like something that came from the future!). The ON/OFF button is separated from the PLUS and MINUS buttons used to change settings. No accidental turning it off at the worst possible moment. The controls are exactly where your hands are holding the vibrator, so no fishing around and awkward “where is iiiit?!” anymore. I cannot emphasize this enough! Ergonomics and design matter! These things can change your whole experience with the product.

When I am pleasuring myself or being pleasured, I don’t want to be distracted by unwanted pain. No, I don’t want my arms cramping and getting tired. I don’t want my shoulder aching. That’s not sexy and that’s not what I signed up for when I wanted some sexual pleasure. I have a tennis elbow and early stages of a rare form of arthritis, I work on a computer the whole day, and I have chronic back and shoulder pain. And I am horny. I don’t want my playtime to be limited by my body and my ability to hold a toy.

When using the Rumble the vibrations travel very little and you only slightly feel them through the handle, which adds to the overall comfort, while using this toy. And at just 6.6 oz Tantus Rumble has my love and devotion.

Every Body

One of the key characteristics of this toy is that it’s 100% gender neutral. It’s an external vibrator for all bodies. Penises, vulvas, transitioning bodies, breasts, butt-holes, nipples. Whatever you got, this toy can stimulate it. The shape doesn’t suggest just one way of using it. It also features a wider head for more broad stimulation. At the same time the head is not too round and has an edge that can be used for more direct or pinpoint vibration. Or one can use one of its attachments. The g/p-spot head, called the Spoon, can actually be used externally on the clit or around the anus. (I will be writing a separate post about the Rumble replaceable heads.)

Features

The Tantus Rumble has seven settings to choose from: three are different speeds of steady vibration, and four are different patterns. You can go back and forth by using the controls. You don’t have to go through the whole cycle to go back to something that you liked! It has a very quiet motor and the sound is in no way distracting or annoying. It’s a cordless rechargeable vibrator that holds its battery for 4.5 hours! You heard correctly! It uses a mini USB which makes finding its cord so much easier. A number of other electronics that you probably have around your house use it and if you end up misplacing your cord, you can really easily replace it or buy one even from the drug store.

And because it’s Tantus, it’s 100% body-safe. The body of the toy is plastic and the head of the vibrator is matte silicone. It can be removed and boiled or sanitized with a 10% bleach solution. This isn’t something you can do with any other vibrator or wand. Vibrators cannot be boiled, and this is the only one that has a removable head. Yes, some vibes have attachments, but the original plain smooth head is not sanitizable.

Unlike other vibes, Rumble has a flexible neck that gently moves the head around and follows your shapes. That can be a little bit of a downside for some people who like really rigid vibes and like pressing them against a certain body part.

I also think Rumble is a great travel buddy. It’s so much smaller than wand vibrators, and being so unbelievably light, it makes taking it a really smart packing decision. People with mobility issues try to always keep their luggage light and small, because dragging a suitcase with a Doxy Die Cast is frankly not helping anyone’s back. And you don’t really need to even take it’s cord, because the battery will hold forever.

Using it

dscn9906Rumble has vibrations that penetrate deeply and, hence the name, are deliciously rumbly. It’s not an extra powerful wand-type vibrator, so expect an experience closer to the We-Vibe Touch or a small external vibrator. On its highest setting Rumble doesn’t get too buzzy the way most vibes do, it still has depth to it. It never numbs my clit or genitalia. A few female reviewers who’ve written about it say that they can’t come from it because the head is too broad and they need either more power or more pinpoint stimulation. I’ve found that using it a bit more sideways, so actually the edge/corner of the head is against the glans of my clit, helps a great deal when I am in searching for more direct vibration.

My man is truly in love with it. He likes vibrations and broader heads, but things like Doxy are too powerful or too stiff and rigid for him. Things can easily go from “yeah” to “ouch” with other vibes. The flexible neck and the way the head moves is great for using it on penises and scrotums.

Some advice from experience. Penises don’t like cold toys in general. And what’s great about Rumble is that, unlike many other corded vibes, you can take the attachment off, run some warm water over it and then put it on the vibe. Or just hold the head of the toy in your hands and warm it up before pressing it against someone’s dick or balls.

Things to consider

Some of its cons are that it’s not waterproof. I am not a big fan of using a vibe in the tub and the heads/attachments are washable, so this isn’t that much of an issue for me. You can wipe the body of the toy with a damp cloth and maybe some liquid soap. Also, it doesn’t come with a storage bag or case, but that isn’t a great problem either.

Something that’s completely a matter of personal preference is power. Rumble is not megapowerful. It’s no Doxy and it’s not meant to be one. It’s definitely not for power queens. Another thing to consider: if you like using an external vibrator while thrusting in with a dildo, that might not work either. The head is very broad, so it’s hard to use a dildo with it. Maybe with the spoon attachment it can work, but if you have an image of a Hitachi on the clit/pubic mound and a dildo in, that’s not gonna work with Rumble because it’s a bit of a vulva-hog.

Rumble, like every other toy, is not something that 10 out of 10 people will like — that’s why we need tons of different toys to choose from! If you like the fullness of an internal toy or internal vibration, maybe you shoud start your collection with an internal vibrator or a Tantus dildo.  I don’t believe the whole “one toy will solve all of your needs and will solve everybody’s needs”. But Rumble is nonetheless a truly amazing creation and I think it’s one of the best toys of 2016. There’s a lot of research and many years of experience in the pleasure industry that went into making it, and it truly does not have an equivalent. I can’t thank Tantus enough for creating a vibe that is so lightweight, ergonomic, rumbly, rechargeable and gender neutral.
