Sliquid Soul Review

Sliquid Soul

You already know how crazy I am about Sliquid. It’s one of my fave intimate care brands that makes some of my top choices of lubes, intimate washes and massage oils. Everything created by them is cruelty-free, vegan, pH-balanced, non-toxic, glycerin, propylene glycol and paraben free. Need I say more?

Until now you could choose between their many different kinds of water-based lube or pick some of their silicone or hybrid options. But this year Sliquid released their first oil-based lubricant, Sliquid Soul, that also doubles as massage oil or body moisturizer.

What is made of?

Sliquid Soul ReviewSoul‘s main ingredient is coconut oil, and we all know about the amazing qualities and health benefits of this nature’s best product. When used vaginally it fights yeast infections, it provides the skin with long-lasting moisture, helps regeneration and elasticity. And most importantly, it provides a super slick lubrication. As if that wasn’t enough, but the folks from Sliquid added to the formula several other amazing organic oils.

Full list of ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Sunflower Seed Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Seed Butter, Organic Almond Oil, Organic Apricot Kernel Oil, Natural Tocopherols (Non GMO)

The result is a stunning liquidy blend of pure slippery goodness. Because of how the oils are mixed, Sliquid Soul is unlike other oil-based lubes. It remains liquid, while most other oils stay solid and only melt upon contact with body heat.

What is it good for?

You can use Sliquid Soul for practically anything. Cracked heels, dry skin, after-shaving care, massage oil, frizz and split ends of your hair. Anything on your body that needs nourishment can benefit from it. That’s one of the reasons I like this oil-based lube so much — it’s so much more than just lube. I like traveling smart and packing light, so Sliquid Soul has me covered and replaces several body-care items that I would otherwise have pack on top of lube.

Sliquid Soul

You can use Sliquid Soul as a vaginal moisturizer as well. For those of you who suffer from vaginal dryness or reduced lubrication (for various reasons, say, drug side-effects, chemotherapy, or menopause), Soul is an excellent natural and organic option that contains nothing artificial or harmful for your body.

But you probably want to know how it performs as a sexual lubricant. Pretty spectacularly, I would have to admit. The closest I can compare Soul to is a high-quality silicone-based lube. It has the high viscosity, it’s super slippery, long-lasting, runny and liquidy. With the only difference that it’s entirely natural and it’s safe to use with all sex toys (except porous ones, which you shouldn’t be using in the first place). As you know some silicone toys are not compatible with some silicone-based libricants, and since there isn’t anything that can help you know for sure if a particular silicone lube will ruin your silicone sex toy, we always advice to avoid using these together.

Sliquid Soul ReviewSince Sliquid Soul is natural and organic it’s safe for oral sex and there isn’t anything harmful you can accidentally swallow. It does feel oily, but as long as that’s not unpleasant to you, you can go ahead and use it for oral sex (it actually moisturizes your lips and keeps them soft). It’s a really good lube for hand jobs and intimate massage. It doesn’t dry out so it’s great to use with sex toys or for intercourse. But where it really shines is anal play, whether it’s silicone butt plugs or anal sex, Soul will give you the longevity that you’re looking for from a lube when it comes to butt stuff. Since the rectum is not self-lubricating, you will need a lot of lube for anal sex. While the colon can absorb water and make water-based lube dry out after a while, an oil-based lube will last much longer and is a much better choice if you were to wear a putt plug for several hours, or have anal intercourse.

Not latex compatible

The only thing to always keep in mind is that oils degrade latex barriers and are not safe to use with most condoms or gloves. When it comes to external condoms, you can safely use Trojan Supra. Avoid latex-free condoms such as SKYN and Durex Avanti because they’re are made from Polyisoprene which still gets damaged by oil-based lubricants. And there’s, of course, the FC2 condom, which is made by nitrile and is oil-compatible as well.

Things to consider

The only thing to keep in mind is that, as with all oils, it might stain some clothes and sheets. It’s also a bit more runny than most lubes. It’s not as liquid as massage oil, but it’s more runny than Sliquid H2O. If you prefer thick gel-like lubes, you should consider Sliquid Organics Gel.
For now Soul only comes in the adorable carry-on luggage size of 2 oz. It sells for $12 at the lovely body-safe online store Peepshowtoys, but you can get it 10% off with my coupon code. It’s a long-lasting lubricant and moisturizer and despite its price tag, it’s going to last you a while.

COCONU Water-Based Lubricant

COCONU Coconut Water-Based Lubricant

There are very few things that are universal when it comes to sex, pleasure and intimacy. If there is one thing that I think is great advice to give to everyone, regardless of gender, age, orientation or the kind and frequency of sex they engage in, that would be: try adding lube. Using lube makes sex more pleasurable, enhances the experience, takes pressure off your own body to “perform” in a certain way or get wet on its own. It also helps you have more sex, because let’s be honest here, if you end up with a nasty chafing or friction burn, you won’t want to *hear* the word sex in the next few days. Preventing irritation and pain during intercourse is key to leaving with a good memory of the night. Lube is what can turn “Ouch!” into a “Yes, please, gimme MORE!”.

But besides telling people to not shy away from lube, there’s not much I can do, as a sex educator and coach, in order to help people find their best fit. Often finding what product works for you is a matter of trial and error. And that’s why I am constantly trying to bring awareness about healthy choices.

COCONU Coconut Water-Based LubricantAs part of the mission to try out all the body-safe lubes, one of the brands I absolutely needed to test was Coconu. What’s special about them is that they make lubricants from coconut (you probably could’ve figured that last one by yourself, it’s a bit of a no-brainer, isn’t it). They’re most famous for their organic oil-based lubricant, but what’s truly unique to them is actually their coconut water-based lubricant.

You heard correctly. Instead of water, its base is coconut water. Which means that this lube has many of the benefits of coconut oil that many of us love and enthusiastically use in the kitchen, bedroom and the bathroom alike. At the same time it does not contain any oils, so it’s latex-compatible!

Coconu only makes two lubricants (the coconut water and coconut oil-based ones), and their products are: pH balanced, hypoallergenic, they do not contain genetically modified organisms, are alcohol, petroleum, parabens, gluten, phylates, fragrances and dyes free. They don’t perform any animal testing. Their water-based lube is certified organic and is 100% vegan.

Coconu Coconut Water-based Personal Lubricant Ingredients: Organic Coconut Water *, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose Gum, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate. * Certified Organic Ingredient.

Packaging

Coconu products only come in 3 oz tubes, which means that you can take the bottle even in your carry-on luggage. They recently redesigned their packaging and I’m truly in love with their bottles and boxes. Nothing suggests it’s a sexual product, so you can safely leave it on your drawer. Everything you need to know about the product and the company’s philosophy is mentioned there.

What does it feel like

Coconu water-based is a slightly runny and liquidy lube, that has a really nice slipperiness and last fairly long for a water-based lube. It’s entirely non-sticky and doesn’t have any nasty residue. It’s fragrance free and has a slightly (barely noticeable) sweet taste, that just comes from the coconut water and is not achieved by any artificial sweeteners or sugars.

What is it good for

You can use it both as a sexual lubricant or vaginal moisturizer. It’s compatible with all sex toy materials, condoms and latex products, and it’s a great lube for vaginal intercourse, oral sex, alternating the two, and even hand sex. Keep in mind that it’s not super cushioning and if you’re going to give long hand jobs or do a lot of fingering, you might want to use their oil-based version one instead. It’s a little too runny and watery for anal sex in my opinion, a problem that their other lube solves very successfully!

Benefits

Organic coconut helps you fight off yeast infections and candidiasis, and has a long-lasting hydrating effect. It increases skin elasticity and blends wonderfully with vaginal lubrication.

Last words

COCONU Coconut Water-Based LubricantIn terms of personal preferences, Coconu water-based is not thick and gel-like enough, but my partner absolutely loved it and reported it’s his personal favorite. It’s one of the lubes I really love, because it has so very few ingredients, all of which are unique and healthy. There is no other equivalent of this product on the market, and if you’re still in search for a lube that best fits your body, you should definitely consider it. I also like alternating lubes, because some are aloe-based, some have other healthy ingredients. I am trying to give my body an optimal and balanced diet and I apply the same rule to my lubricants. There are many ingredients that have great health benefits out there.

They’re a wonderful company that’s easy to shop from, provide excellent customer support and even has a blog that educates about ingredients and the benefits of using lube. The coconut water-based lube sells for $15.99 and you can get it from here. If you prefer purchasing your lube from a sex store and adding it to your cart when purchasing sex toys, you can find it at Peepshow Toys too. And you get 10% off with code WETLANDIA.

CaraGold CBD Lubricant

Updated on 12/12/2016.

CBD CaraGold Lubricant

You’ve already heard about my love for Good Clean Love. You’ve all seen it on the Netflix Original “Easy“. So what more is there to say? Lube is lube, right? They’re all the same!

Short reminder that this is absolutely not true. 95% of the lubricants are made with petrochemicals, glycerin and propylene glycol. They’re tested on animals and are harmful for the mucous tissue of human vaginas, rectums and penises. They put women at risk of BV and yeast infections, and at 13 times higher risk of being infected with an STI.

We don’t just need lubricants with ingredients we don’t hate, but we need lubricants with ingredients we love; which are not just “not harmful” but are actually beneficial and make your body healthier.

And in this regard Good Clean Love have outdone themselves. It wasn’t enough that they’re making some of my beloved lubes Almost Naked and Guilty Pleasure. When they introduced their newest creation CaraGold, and I read all the educational materials, I was already doing a little happy dance. Little did I know that it was even better in practice than in theory.

The science behind the ingredients

What is CaraGold? Despite what you see in this hypnotic video, no, the actual lubricant is not “golden”, nor it is made with gold (the substance being poured on the tube is not the lube itself). It’s made with something even better. The precious certified organic CBD Hemp Oil.

CBD CaraGold Lubricant

Cannabidiol, or CBD, has strong healing and pain relieving effects. Unlike the better known and more commonly used THC, CBD doesn’t have any psychotropic effect and interacts in multiple ways with the body’s endocannabinoid system. Recent research with CBD has shown significant reduction in inflammation and pain symptoms. It is a healthy and natural analgesic, antioxidant, anti-convulsant and anti-depressant.

Carrageenan, a red algae has been shown to prevent HPV (Human papillomavirus) acquisition. According to the Center for Disease Control roughly 79 million Americans are currently infected with HPV, which makes it the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. And while using barrier protection (such as condoms) reduces significantly your risk of contracting it, that’s not enough to protect you, because it’s transmitted via skin-to-skin contact. Condoms don’t cover the whole intimate area around the penis, nor prevent contact with the vulva (vulva is everything that’s outside: inner and outer lips, clit, etc.). Using dental dams and cloves can help and reduce your risk of getting infected, but again, if you don’t eliminate all the skin to skin action, you’re never entirely protected. Carrageenan has may act as an inhibitor to HPV and it’s a natural and healthy ingredient.

Organic Aloe gives the lubricant a really long-lasting formula, while it helps the skin regenerate and leave it naturally hydrated.

Full list of ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Carrageenan, Organic-compliant flavor (EU: Aroma), Lactic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Organic Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil.

Packaging

CaraGold comes in a 2 oz tube, placed in a beautiful little paper box that has all the information you will need. It looks really stylish and fancy, it has the usual Good Clean Love Green, but the letters and logos are gold, instead of white. It looks super fancy and is a great gift. In terms of sustainability and being green, I can spare the paper box. It does give a nice finish and makes everything easier to read than the little font on the bottle itself, but I can give up on that and help save some trees instead.

The feel

CaraGold is easily one of the longest lasting water-based, vegan lubricants I’ve ever used. It comes in a thick, gel-like formula, and it doesn’t drip and it doesn’t make a mess. The little pea-size squeeze that you will need stays where you put it, even before smearing it, which in my book is a huge deal. I can’t deal with runny lubes. I want the lube to stay on my sex toy, on my partner’s penis or vulva and not drip everywhere. I basically don’t want more lube on the sheets than on the bits.

dscn9898I don’t know what miracle formula Good Clean Love came up with, but it is soooo long-lasting. They’re recommending it as a natural water-based silicone alternative, and they got really close. What does this mean? Silicone lubes are super long-lasting and don’t dry out, compared to water-based ones. CaraGold is a water-based lube, but with a texture and qualities closer to silicone lubricants. At the same time the water and CBD lube mixes with and compliments your natural fluids, while silicone stays separated. And if I have to be honest it actually feels far better than any silicone lube I’ve tried, because it’s thicker and it blends with my natural lubrication. It enhances my own wetness. You really do need only a small drop without having to reapply too often. Using it for vaginal intercourse helps with my dryness. And not just during the act, but it actually has a long-lasting healing effect. My vagina keeps self lubricating even the day after. It blends in and complements my own lubrication really well.

Where Good Clean Love CBD CaraGold really shines is anal sex. The consistency is very slippery and almost doesn’t need reapplying. I can say that it gave me some of the most wonderful anal sex experiences I’ve ever had.

It doesn’t have any pronounced taste nor smell, and, unlike other organic lubes, it’s not bitter. Which makes it great for oral sex too (and don’t forget that HPV can be contracted via oral sex, so the powers of Carrageenan are helping you stay safer).

CaraGold is really one of the most versatile lubricants I’ve ever used. It’s superb for practically anything. From oral sex and hand jobs to vaginal and anal sex. And it’s even safe to use with your silicone sex toys. It gets a “check” in all of my boxes!

Pro tips

dscn9891-copyI love using it during my period. It helps my body not lose its pH balance, and not get too dry during my monthly flow. I put a tiny bit at the tip of my tampon or on the edge of my menstrual cup. It makes insertion easier, helps with pain and discomfort, and reduces the damage tampons cause to my body (yes, ladies, you know all too well that horrible dryness) or the friction burn from placing a menstrual cup.

And another tip for champions. During play time you can reactivate the lube with water. Yes! Unlike other water based lubes, this one can get reactivated just by adding some water. I would recommend keeping some water spray (like the way you mist your plants with). You need to add just a few drops on the areas where you’ve already had the lube and it will keep sliding.

CaraGold and Condoms

Is what we know about oils and latex really true? It turns out that we don’t know nearly enough, and that what’s backed up by science is that mineral oil and pure coconut oil could damage condoms, but there aren’t studies  showing all oils break down latex. This is why Good Clean Love sent CaraGold to a lab to see if it was in fact not latex compatible. It’s a water-based lube that has a tiny bit of CBD oil. And luckily, the results came out at the end of October and CaraGold is latex condom-safe.

Last thoughts

CaraGold comes loaded with ingredients I love. It made its way to the top in my “most versatile” and “best texture and feel” charts. There isn’t a single thing that I don’t like about it. Except the price. I know that quality ingredients and especially CBD are really expensive, and I know that doing business in a responsible way is really difficult and keeps the costs high. But the truth is that most people aren’t going to be able to afford $20 for a 2 oz lube.

Do I think it’s worth it? I absolutely do because it’s long lasting, you’re not going to run out of it very fast. And if you want a lubricant that has amazing health benefits you should absolutely try it. Good Clean Love offers a pack of three 4 ml sample pillows for $1.99 and this is a good way to check it out and decide whether it’s for you. And subscribe to Good Clean Love’s newsletter, they have some great weekly deals and sales. You can also find it at a number of stores and pharmacies, as well as at most sex stores.
