Sliquid Satin Review

Sliquid Satin

The sex educator in me screams with horror every time I need to pick up a prescription from the drug store. Why is that? See, the prescription pick up is facing the section with condoms and lubricants. And every now and then I will see a person buying a KY jelly and my heart sinks. I can’t be that crazy person who talks to random strangers purchasing lubes, about the pH and the osmolality of the product. I can throw at the stranger glycerin and propylene glycol arguments and quote studies. This is a privilege I can exercise when someone consents to talking about sex or intimate health with me. That poor soul just wanted better sex, and not a stranger telling them that the great “deal” they got on the KY is at the expense of their own health. What I can do though, is talk to you. From another post of mine you might already know how important the ingredients of a lube are.

Luckily, everything created by Sliquid has always been glycerin, propylene glycol and paraben-free. Their products are also not tested on animals. Their lubricants are all pH balanced, but the acidity of the products varies slightly. One of the lubes that has a little higher pH, but it’s also approved as a daily intimate moisturizer, not just a sex lubricant, is the Sliquid Satin. Beautiful on the outside, but also created with care and ingredients that help with lubrication in long-term. It’s one of the fanciest Sliquid lubes created so far!

Ingredients and Health Benefits

dscn2884Sliquid Satin, like most Sliquid products, comes in 2 oz, 4 oz or 8 oz bottles, which are recyclable. While Satin is water-based, it’s also infused with Aloe, Carrageenan and Vit E. These three ingredients are not only essential to healthy natural moisturizing, but Carrageenan is linked to lower risk of HPV (papillomavirus infection).

Full list of ingredients: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Carrageenan, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners), Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

Sliquid Satin is a slick water-based lube that’s runny and has a similar consistency as Sliquid H2O. It’s colorless, odorless and tasteless. It never gets sticky or hard to wash off. And as I mentioned, it’s designed to be an intimate lubricant as well, making it perfect for people who experience vaginal dryness, due to menopause, drug side-effects, chemotherapy or a number of other reasons.

Using it

I love using it daily for my kegel balls exercises. It’s great for vaginal intercourse too, or combined with oral sex, because it doesn’t have any taste. It’s safe to use with all sex toys and latex products. I don’t find it thick enough for anal sex, but if you are using a smaller anal toy, or putting extra lube with a lube shooter, it could be used for butt play too.

In conclusion

Sliquid Silk is a great body-friendly water-based lube and intimate everyday moisturizer for sex and masturbation; it is also great during menopause or in cases of vaginal dryness. It has some of the best natural ingredients one can expect from high-end Sliquid lubes. It’s a little too runny for me as my go-to lube is actually Sliquid Organics Gel. But I can happily recommend it because of the Carrageenan it contains and the long-lasting, non-messy lubrication it provides. But if you are looking for a good anal sex lube, I would pick Sliquid Sassy or Silver instead.

COCONU Water-Based Lubricant

COCONU Coconut Water-Based Lubricant

There are very few things that are universal when it comes to sex, pleasure and intimacy. If there is one thing that I think is great advice to give to everyone, regardless of gender, age, orientation or the kind and frequency of sex they engage in, that would be: try adding lube. Using lube makes sex more pleasurable, enhances the experience, takes pressure off your own body to “perform” in a certain way or get wet on its own. It also helps you have more sex, because let’s be honest here, if you end up with a nasty chafing or friction burn, you won’t want to *hear* the word sex in the next few days. Preventing irritation and pain during intercourse is key to leaving with a good memory of the night. Lube is what can turn “Ouch!” into a “Yes, please, gimme MORE!”.

But besides telling people to not shy away from lube, there’s not much I can do, as a sex educator and coach, in order to help people find their best fit. Often finding what product works for you is a matter of trial and error. And that’s why I am constantly trying to bring awareness about healthy choices.

COCONU Coconut Water-Based LubricantAs part of the mission to try out all the body-safe lubes, one of the brands I absolutely needed to test was Coconu. What’s special about them is that they make lubricants from coconut (you probably could’ve figured that last one by yourself, it’s a bit of a no-brainer, isn’t it). They’re most famous for their organic oil-based lubricant, but what’s truly unique to them is actually their coconut water-based lubricant.

You heard correctly. Instead of water, its base is coconut water. Which means that this lube has many of the benefits of coconut oil that many of us love and enthusiastically use in the kitchen, bedroom and the bathroom alike. At the same time it does not contain any oils, so it’s latex-compatible!

Coconu only makes two lubricants (the coconut water and coconut oil-based ones), and their products are: pH balanced, hypoallergenic, they do not contain genetically modified organisms, are alcohol, petroleum, parabens, gluten, phylates, fragrances and dyes free. They don’t perform any animal testing. Their water-based lube is certified organic and is 100% vegan.

Coconu Coconut Water-based Personal Lubricant Ingredients: Organic Coconut Water *, Xanthan Gum, Cellulose Gum, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate. * Certified Organic Ingredient.

Coconu products only come in 3 oz tubes, which means that you can take the bottle even in your carry-on luggage. They recently redesigned their packaging and I’m truly in love with their bottles and boxes. Nothing suggests it’s a sexual product, so you can safely leave it on your drawer. Everything you need to know about the product and the company’s philosophy is mentioned there.

What does it feel like

Coconu water-based is a slightly runny and liquidy lube, that has a really nice slipperiness and last fairly long for a water-based lube. It’s entirely non-sticky and doesn’t have any nasty residue. It’s fragrance free and has a slightly (barely noticeable) sweet taste, that just comes from the coconut water and is not achieved by any artificial sweeteners or sugars.

What is it good for

You can use it both as a sexual lubricant or vaginal moisturizer. It’s compatible with all sex toy materials, condoms and latex products, and it’s a great lube for vaginal intercourse, oral sex, alternating the two, and even hand sex. Keep in mind that it’s not super cushioning and if you’re going to give long hand jobs or do a lot of fingering, you might want to use their oil-based version one instead. It’s a little too runny and watery for anal sex in my opinion, a problem that their other lube solves very successfully!

Organic coconut helps you fight off yeast infections and candidiasis, and has a long-lasting hydrating effect. It increases skin elasticity and blends wonderfully with vaginal lubrication.

Last words

COCONU Coconut Water-Based LubricantIn terms of personal preferences, Coconu water-based is not thick and gel-like enough, but my partner absolutely loved it and reported it’s his personal favorite. It’s one of the lubes I really love, because it has so very few ingredients, all of which are unique and healthy. There is no other equivalent of this product on the market, and if you’re still in search for a lube that best fits your body, you should definitely consider it. I also like alternating lubes, because some are aloe-based, some have other healthy ingredients. I am trying to give my body an optimal and balanced diet and I apply the same rule to my lubricants. There are many ingredients that have great health benefits out there.

They’re a wonderful company that’s easy to shop from, provide excellent customer support and even has a blog that educates about ingredients and the benefits of using lube. The coconut water-based lube sells for $15.99 and you can get it from here. If you prefer purchasing your lube from a sex store and adding it to your cart when purchasing sex toys, you can find it at Peepshow Toys too. And you get 10% off with code WETLANDIA.

SUTIL Lubricant Review

SUTIL Lubricant

Good lubricants make me happy. They make me confident, acknowledged as a woman, celebrated as a human being who deserves pleasure. They make me feel taken care of. Quality lubes make my sex life happier, and they definitely make my vagina happier after long love-making/fucking sessions. Whether I just cherish my own body, or I dive into partnered sex, I often end up chafing and suffer from a lot of friction burn. The result: the skin of my vaginal walls feels dry and bruised, and it’s very uncomfortable. I bet that’s not what you want your mornings-after to feel like. But the truth is that sex equals friction, and using sex toys equals even more friction, sooo… So nothing! You shouldn’t just take one for the team. That’s not how it should feel. Because it can feel so much better. It’s as simple as adding some high-quality long lasting lube. Often that’s all it takes to get from sad to happy.

What is Sutil to me? It’s the Tesla S of lubricants. It’s Eco-friendly, made with care and sustainability in mind, it’s new-age, alternative, revolutionary, looks like and performs like something that came from the future.

Who’s behind Sutil?

Sutil is a sister-brand of Hathor Aphrodisia. Hathor is a Canada-based, women-owned small business that didn’t just go green. It was conceived green in 1989. Their ingredients are Eco-certified and come from organic farms. It all started with spa products, aphrodisiac oils and lotions. Paraben free, glycerin free and free of harsh chemicals is not just a trend for Hathor. It’s their mission, and their philosophy.

It’s no wonder that Sutil comes in a biodegradable tube, with no useless outer packaging, and no paper waste. The tube looks like a high-end body lotion or hand cream. It only says “luxe body glide” in English and French. Their logo represents a beautiful blossoming lotus flower. It’s the perfect metaphor for female sexuality and female anatomy alike.

What’s inside Sutil?

The list of their ingredients is a who’s who in botanical, natural goodness: Aqua, Propanediol* (Zamea, botanical source), Hyaluronic Acid (Botanical source), Nelumbo Nucifera Root Extract* (Lotus Root), Oat Beta Glucan*, Gluconolactone*, Sodium Benzoate*,Citric Acid. *Eco-Certified Ingredients. What does that actually mean? Eco-Cert: “ingredients derived from renewable resources, manufactured by environmentally friendly processes”.

How is this good for you?

Lotus root: helps skin regeneration, faster healing of wounds, it’s a rich source of minerals,  vitamins A and C, and helps with inflammation processes. It’s an antioxidant, and helps collagen synthesis in your body.

Plant sourced Hyaluronic Acid: it’s found naturally in our bodies. It’s extremely hydrating and boosts skin elasticity. It also promotes cell growth.

Oat Beta Glucan: helps wound healing and collagen synthesis as well, it’s deeply soothing and moisturizing to the skin.

How does Sutil feel?

dscn1052You know I’ve tried and review a number of lubricants. I’ve used a fair number of the whole Sliquid range (including Organics Gel and Sassy), all of Good Clean Love products, the Organics lube by Wet, Aloe Cadabra, and Coconu. The fact is that Sutil is the longest lasting water-based lube I’ve tried. If I have to be honest it’s a close call with the new CBD CaraGold from Good Clean Love. It’s possible that they tie for first place. And yes, Sutil does feel much more like a silicone-based lubricant, without any silicone ingredients in it. It behaves better even than hybrid lubricants (water and silicone blend). It’s a lubricant that’s a little on the runny and liquidy side, so it might not be a perfect match if you’re looking for something super thick.

It blends really well with my own lubrication and creates a feeling of long-lasting hydration. The moisturizing properties of this lube last the day after and make my bangover (what you’re experiencing the morning after a lot of sex) recovery much faster. Actually, besides sore muscles and other completely unrelated “pains” from the heated night, there isn’t much to recover from. Because with Sutil I don’t get sore to begin with.

Is there any residue? Not in the common meaning of lube residue. It’s not sticky, it doesn’t turn into a yucky mess, but when I try it on my skin anywhere on my body and smear it, after a very long period of rubbing it and waiting for it to dry out, when it eventually does, it doesn’t just feel dry and evaporated. The spot that had the lube feels as if I put cream or lotion on it. It’s very nourished and moisturized. It washes off really quickly and there’s no post coital mess.

Who is Sutil for?

  • It’s a wonderful lube for anal play and fierce fingering. Provides a really comfortable “cushioning” and glide.
  • It’s great for long-lasting vaginal sex or if you need a lot of extra lubrication.
  • The ingredients make it perfect for postpartum bodies and after-baby sex.
  • If you are like me and tend to get sore from toys or intercourse.
  • If you’re simply looking for a really long lasting water-based lube.
  • All fans of silicone-based lube, that are searching for an organic, botanical, water-based option.
  • Delicious hand-jobs without any penis chafing.
  • Users of sex toys (as silicone-based toys are often incompatible with silicone lube).
  • Anyone who wants a lube with extra health benefits.
  • Anyone who’s in a long distance relationship or who experiences a pattern of not having sex altogether for a long period of time and then having a lot of it over a very short period of time. I was in a cross-continent relationship not so long ago and I definitely could use some Sutil to help with the fierce love-making!

Who is Sutil not for?

When it comes to lube, no two people are alike. Clearly this lube can’t fit all needs, and:

  • If you don’t like it too wet and slippery, maybe that’s not the best choice for you.
  • It also has a little bit of a bitter taste, and if you are mixing and matching activities, that might be a little off-putting for some people during oral sex.
  • It’s not a cheap lube, so if you’re financially strained and looking for a budget option, it might not be a good fit for you either.
  • If you are looking for a very thick and richer lube, the current version of Sutil might not be for you.

Luckily, the brand is working on a thicker formula and hopefully the new version of the lube will hit the market soon.

Should you get one?

I think it’s worth every dime given how long-lasting it is and the overall quality of the product. You can get yours directly from their website. You get to choose from a few options: 2 oz travel-size bottle for $15 USD, 4 oz for $24, and 8 oz for $37. I love their value pack! That one is going to last you a year! You can get their 10 ml samples (which are simply adorable) and always carry them in your purse or your pocket. I think this is the lube of the future and I wish I could magically deliver it to every woman and every couple who needs it. Don’t believe me it’s that good? Watch this video by Self Serve Toys.

You can also find them at my favorite sex stores Shevibe and Good Vibrations, or at Come As You Are if you live in Canada.

Good Clean Love Guilty Pleasure Lubricant Review

Good Clean Love Guilty Pleasure LubricantA short intro

I feel really strongly about lubricants. If there’s one tip to give to every couple that struggles with somewhat unfulfilling sex life, it would be: just add lube! But then again, this single sentence doesn’t give people the whole picture. They run off to the drug store, and buy a tube of lube they find usually in the condom section. Little do they know about the the poisons that are in them.

So one piece of advice for better and more enjoyable sex: the wetter the better. But also: the better, the better. Okay, I know, it got confusing. What I mean by this is: the better your lubricant is, the more you will enjoy sex and the more you will thrive in good intimate health.

This review is not supposed to be an in-depth intro to body-safe lubricants, nor bad ingredients, so I will leave it at that, hoping you will keep coming back for more, because a ton of awesome articles on lube are coming your way. It’s gonna get waaay wetter and more slippery.

The Company

Good Clean Love Guilty Pleasure

Good Clean Love is an amazing company that takes “responsible” and sustainable to a whole new level. Their creator, Wendy Strgar is doing everything she can, to help young women know more about their bodies and achieve better feminine well-being. But she doesn’t leave it at that. She helps women learn about pleasure and intimacy. Wendy runs a truly inspiring blog about sex and relationships, called Making Love Sustainable. The company works with colleges and provides education, so people don’t start off their sexual experiences in a traumatic, painful or disappointing way.

This company isn’t just your nerdy friend, who knows all their science and spends most of their time in the lab. Oh, yes, they are walking the walk and have done their homework. You can geek out about all the health benefits of using lube, such as lower risk of transmitting STIs, lower risk of developing BV (bacterial vaginosis), lower risk of condom breakage, better intimate flora, and lower risk of yeast infections. They know a ton of information and are not afraid to share it with us. But better lubricant isn’t only about better health. And here’s where Good Clean Love steps in as your bestie and your confidante. They don’t pretend it’s all about being “well balanced”. It’s about pleasure too! Sex is about pleasure (yeap, if you didn’t get the memo: it’s not just for reproduction, despite what your math teacher said in high-school during the awkward health class they were forced to teach).

The Vagina

Despite what fear-based marketing is trying to tell you, your vagina is not dirty, filthy, impossible to clean, and it doesn’t need intimate deodorants, douching and a whole bunch of things. It’s a self-cleaning organ and your vaginal discharge is a normal and healthy part of being a woman. Your delicate plumbing contains good bacteria and lactobacilli, which keep things in a delicate balance. They can fight off infections and make you less susceptible to STIs. When that balance is thrown off by harsh products, this is when things get ugly. When lubricants don’t match your pH (the acidity) of your lady parts, this causes bad bacteria to overgrow, which can lead to BV or yeast infections. This is why it’s hugely important to use personal care products that are heathy and designed with your anatomy and physiology in mind.

The Product

dscn2965Guilty Pleasure, which is part of their Almost Naked line, is a water based scented vanilla-cinnamon natural lubricant. Its ingredients are 95% organic (all of which are certified), it’s 100% vegan and gluten-free, and it’s condom-safe. Being water-based, it’s also entirely sex-toy-safe: you can use it with silicone and any other materials. GCL works with PETA and their products are not tested on animals. Believe it or not, most lubricants are tested on rabbit vaginas. Which, surprise-surprise!, are not like human vaginas. They have a very different pH and what these testings research show is completely inapplicable to humans. Don’t even get me started on cruelty and how messed up it is to test lube on rabbits.

Let’s talk about the 95% organic. Some of you might cry: just 95%? It’s not “just”, it’s as much as it can possibly get, because there are some products that simply don’t exist in organic form. Seaweed (aka Agar, which is natural, but not organic) and xanthan gum, which make 5% of Good Clean Love lubricants, are such ingredients.

Petrochemicals, glycerin and propylene glycol are ingredients you are never going to find in Almost Naked, because the company made it its mission to not include these ingredients. Research has proven that these ingredients cause significant cell damage, and disrupt vaginal, as well as rectal tissue (which makes lubricants that contain these ingredients not safe for anal use either).

Flavored Lubes

Flavored lubes are great for oral sex, or a delicious combo of oral sex and hand-jobs or finger fucking. Unfortunately, most of us have had bad experiences with them. Usually they’re packed with sugars that just feed the fungi in your body and cause yeast overgrowth. This is why things might’ve gotten funky and weird, that time when you used a conventional flavored or warming lube. Good Clean Love Guilty Pleasure is different. It has all the good and organic ingredients of their Almost Naked series, with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon.

The Formula

Good Clean Love Guilty PleasureGood Clean Love is entirely non-sticky, or tacky. It’s not going to stain your clothes or sheets, it’s not going to be impossible to clean and wash off. It’s not gonna start making a yucky mess after a little bit. What causes other lubricants to do this is usually the glycerin in them. When Good Clean Love starts drying out, it’s just going to evaporate, leaving your skin feeling clean and fresh. Because it doesn’t contain glycerin or petrochemicals, it is going to dry off faster and last shorter than one of the popular brands on the market. Water-based lube can’t last forever, after all, it’s water-based and what water does is evaporate eventually. And yet the lube still lasts significantly long enough to make sex really enjoyable and pleasurable. If things get dryer, just reapply it. With more frequent use, it will restore your body’s ability to self-lubricate more. What other lubricants packed with sugars and chemicals do is suck out all the water from your cells. This is why you might be experiencing dryness and end up needing more and more of them, after a while. Guilty Pleasure isn’t going to compromise your own ability to moisturize and get wet.

What I really loved about the formula is that it’s much thicker than your typical water-based lube. It’s much more gel-like, it doesn’t spill everywhere, before you even reach to the spot when you want to apply it, and it provides a nice cushioning.

Guilty Pleasure ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Agar, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Lactate, Lactic Acid, Natural Flavors. You can find all of your questions about their ingredients here.

The Sensations

Good Clean Love Vanilla Cinnamon LubricantWere you looking for a lubricant that tastes like nothing? That doesn’t turn your partner into a birthday cake and allows you to actually experience and enjoy their own skin? If you need something sweet, you might wanna go have a snack, instead of giving a blowjob. Just a thought. GCL tastes like nothing, in the best possible way.

It does have a pronounced vanilla-cinnamon smell, not too subtle, not too overwhelming. It might eventually make you get hungry, because… well, it smells delicious. And these two ingredients are really commonly used in baking, so… your bedroom might start smelling like your kitchen. Which is great if you’re looking for some sensation play, teasing, blind-folding… It is going to make things really sensual.

What about how it feels… down there? If you’ve had a bad experience with lubes irritating you or causing you burning, I feel you. Good Clean Love doesn’t have any ingredients that can cause you allergies, or any irritations. But (!!!) if your natural pH is thrown off balance already and is higher than what it’s supposed to be, you might experience some slight initial burning the first few times when you use Good Clean Love. I would recommend trying it out solo first, and getting used to it. If things are burning a lot, you might want to buy some pH test strips. Your vagina is supposed to be acidic, so anything from 3.8 to 4.5, 5 maximum. (Which are the orange to yellow colors on most pH testers). If things are much higher (green shades on the test), 1. you need to switch to their Balance and Restore line, 2. visit your doctor, because you might have BV. So one reason that your good pH balances lubricant or intimate wash burns is because it has a lower acidity than what you currently have. This is most probably the case if you’ve been using conventional lubricants or harsh intimate products (or soap for your intimate parts, for that matter). Burning from Good Clean Love is not a sign that there’s something wrong with the lube and you’re not tolerating it well, it’s just a sign that things might’ve been thrown out of their normal healthy balance. Nothing to worry about because this is exactly why these lubes are here to help.

An Important Note

If you are using scented or flavored lube to fight back some unpleasant smells from your own intimate parts or from your partner, you might need to see a doctor. If there are some strong smells or discharge that feels different and unnatural, that might be a symptom of an STI or of Bacterial Vaginosis. I would recommend seeing your health practitioner ASAP. If they’re busy or you can’t schedule an appointment in the next few days/weeks, you can test at home for STIs with the help of MyLAB Box and test your pH with home strips (you will need to take some vaginal discharge with the help of a cotton bud and place it on the tester paper). Using a scented lubricant isn’t going to solve the problem, and any unaccounted smells should be treated, not masked.

Last words

If you like voting with your wallet, Good Clean Love is definitely a company worth supporting. If I have to be honest, no matter how good of a company they are, if their products were simply good enough, I wouldn’t have bothered with writing this lengthy review, nor with reading and doing further research about the brand and their products. But they truly create awesome lubricants, and they’re one of the few companies I stand behind. I really like how light and natural their formula is, while providing enough thickness and being long-lasting. After more than a month of using them, I can safely say that I haven’t felt healthier and things “down there” haven’t been better.

dscn2962One common con of all organic lubes is that they’re a little expensive (and yet, if you compare it with all the bad brands, they’re not that much more expensive). Good Clean Love Guilty Pleasure sells for $15.99 for 4 oz and $9.99 for 1.5 oz (which is the size featured in my pictures). They also have cool pillow cases/sachets which are excellent for travel or for spending the night out, or just for trying them out, if you don’t wanna commit to a whole bottle. They have really good sales and promos, which you can always find on my Sales Page. You can order them online from their website, or use their Store Locator to find the nearest retailer. You can also find them at all the reputable sex shops. Get it from Peepshowtoys, Good Vibrations or SheVibe. And if you still have any questions, you can consult the FAQ sheet of the Almost Naked Line.

And don’t gorget that lube is for everybody. There’s a number of reasons for vaginal dryness and it just makes sex more pleasurable. There’s nothing wrong if you’re 20 and you still need lube. If you want a longer feel and water based lubes don’t do much for you, you might want to check out hybrid, silicone or oil-based lubricants. Good Clean Love just introduced their oil-based lube Cara Gold, which I absolutely loved.

Disclosure: Good Clean Love was a gift from Sex Geek Summer Camp 2016. I truly believe in this brand. The opinions and endorsements here are honest and entirely mine.
