The Satisfyer Pro 2 Review

dscn9830

I really badly want to start the review with: everyone should own one. And as cheesy, and salesy as this might sound, I really DO think that…

Everyone should own one.

At this point in my life, I am pretty familiar with my own body, the spectrum of sensations I can experience, and what kind of stimulation leads to them. And it’s not like I am taking this for granted, I am constantly trying new things, products, materials, techniques, positions and I am pushing my own boundaries. So when this toy came out, I was a bit skeptical. Suction? Gentle waves? Pulsation? Na-ah! I was imagining some hugely pointless toy (that a number companies keep coming up with these days). I imagined that it was gonna suck on my clitoris in a way that will leave me screaming in pain, cursing my adventurous spirit of having to try every gadget that comes out. I thought it was either gonna be useless and super disappointing, or super painful and torturous to my clit. And I am already a power queen and often bruise the gentle skin of my vulva and the hood of my clitoris with big and super strong toys such as the Doxy Die Cast. And because I am a masturbation enthusiast (and activist for that matter), I do pleasure myself every day. This leaves my body in a constant state of bangover, chafing, bruises, friction burn and sometimes little tears.

So I definitely didn’t need a catfish sucking on my clit. Or so I thought.

Then a fellow sex toy reviewer wrote a post about the product and it said that it was stellar. So I had to challenge my snap judgments of the toy and give it the benefit of the doubt. But still, more questions kept coming up: why is it so cheap? How is it rechargeable and yet so cheap? It must suck really badly. It has pinpointed suction and pulsations towards only the glands of the clit, not the entire organ, and if it doesn’t vibrate, how is that going to stimulate the rest of the clitoris to make me reach an orgasm?

Ladies and gentleman, I do not have the answer of any of these questions. Why, how, how come… It simply works.

By the time when Peepshowtoys, one of the sex-positive and responsible stores I support, offered me to review the Satisfyer of their behalf, I couldn’t say “YES” fast enough.

The Store

The delivery from Peepshowtoys.com was really discreet and it was shipped from “Hamilton Electronics”. So your secret is safe. Your mailman, neighbors, or family members aren’t gonna find out about your little secret. Everything was secured with lots of paper, making sure that the item isn’t gonna travel around in the box during its journey to your house. And that’s key when it comes to vibrators or toys that have electronics in them.

You often see me say “sex-positive, responsible, providing education”, when I talk about the stores that I like and recommend. That’s not a “I like you, I don’t like him, you’re my friend, John isn’t, let’s not play with him” kind of thing. I have very strict criteria when it comes to stores that I endorse. Do they sell crappy, porous or toxic toys? Do they sell unsafe anal toys with no flared base? Do they have a blog, write articles, provide education to their customers? Do they sell lubricants that contain glycerin? That kind of thing. And Peepshowtoys have scored great on all of these. Not only that, but they’re really nice and helpful, they answer your questions and are present on social media, trying to create a good experience for every customer. I couldn’t ask for more.

The Product

dscn9829The Satisfyer Pro 2 looks weird(ish) and unlike almost anything else out there simply because it’s not a vibrator. It has a long handle, which is very comfortable to use and makes holding it in place really easy (and that’s crucial for this toy in particular). It has two buttons, far from each other, which make accidentally turning it off impossible. When you need to turn it on or off, you will have to hold the smaller button. The bigger oval one is controlling the speed. One criticism I have of the one button only thing is that it doesn’t have a plus or minus option. Sometimes you wanna go back and tone things down. But some of my fave vibes (We-Vibe Touch) have the same “fluke”: they only go one way because they only have one button as well. BUT (!!!) this one at least doesn’t start over when you reach the highest setting. It doesn’t go from 11 back to zero. When you reach the most powerful program, it starts “counting back”. 11-10-9… So you can slowly scale down.

What is it made of and what does it do? The body of the toy is ABS plastic and the attachment that makes contact with your clitoris is silicone, so it’s entirely body-safe and non-porous. It’s water-proof (and delicious in the tub, but more on that later), it’s rechargeable (via a magnetic charger that it comes with), and has 11 speeds! What I love about it is that it’s super lightweight, and ergonomic to hold and use… and it’s not a freaking 100 or 200 bucks.

What it does is a gentle suction and pulsations around your clit at the same time. Yes, we are talking only of the glans and the hood of the clit. The little “mouth” of the toy needs to be placed around your clitoris. So the silicone attachment embraces it all around. Try putting some lube that lets you keep even better the light vacuum that the suction makes. And as I mentioned: it can be used underwater. Having it in the tub is definitely different and really delightful. I can’t say better or worse, because it performs really well and reliably in both air and water. One totally cute thing is that when you’re done with it in the bath, it will just float on top of the water. Like a little rubber duck. For adults. Didn’t I say it was super light?

And because it uses suction, well… I HAD to try it on my nipples. People, this isn’t some super hard and painful suction. This is not a BDSM nipple suction toy. If you are looking for pain, you’re not going to find it here. But it feels really good and as close to someone delightfully sucking on my tits as I’ve experienced from a toy. Especially when lubricated. And it’s not too overwhelming, even for the most sensitive of breasts.

At Use

Satisfyer Pro 2There’s a little bit of a learning curve to this toy because what it does to your body is entirely different from anything else that you might’ve used before (unless you have the Womanizer). So there’s definitely a short moment of “is this doing anything for me”. It was really short for me, but it will take every person different amount of time to get off with it. Just within a few minutes Satisfyer Pro 2 starts feeling good… and then really good… and then it might make you cum out of nowhere, because it stimulates parts of your clit that are usually overlooked, so your body-response is going to be different from what you have from vibration. Nothing vibrates on it, and that means that the handle doesn’t either. Yay, no numb fingers anymore! Your arm and hand could get tired for an entirely different reason though. In order to keep the suction and have the toy work and be perfectly placed where you need it to be, you have to hold it in one place. Sometimes a little bit of movement breaks the suction. It’s easy to get back on track, or sometimes this leads to using it in a slightly different position that feels as good or even better.

And what I love about the orgasms with it is that they’re… easy. But what I mean by easy is that they don’t tire my entire PC muscles, it doesn’t make me cramp, it doesn’t leave me depleted. It’s just like having an orgasm, but not having gone through all the “work” and contractions of having one. (Boy I hope this makes sense.) It’s like: I just came, now I am refreshed, energized and can get shit done. Moving forward with my life. Versus: Oh boy, I will need to take a nap after this one.

Cons

The only thing that can be a deal breaker for some people is that Satisfyer Pro 2 cannot be easily used with some vaginal stimulation at the same time. You can’t have intercourse while using the toy and using a dildo and thrusting in and out will break the vacuum and it will move your entire vulva and body with it, making maintaining a constant contact between the Satisfyer and your clit impossible. But on the other hand, if you just need some fullness in your vagina while having the clitoral stimulation, you can either have a vaginal egg or balls in, or you can have a dildo in, but mainly squeeze it with your vag muscles, instead of thrusting with it.

One thing is the battery. It takes 2 and a half hours to charge, for only 30 min of play. They actually say “Usage period: approx. 30min” in the manual. What they mean by that is probably how long the battery can hold. I sincerely hope they’re not telling you how long you should be using it. That’s none of their goddamn business. I haven’t tested the 30 min thing, because I usually use it for anything between 15 and 25 and just plug it in right away, because… Ghosts of depleted batteries are chasing me in my nightmares. Toys must be charged! Who knows when the mood will strike.

And the big question… How loud is it? Well, it gets loud. LOUD. The thing is, that just in the air, by itself, it’s very loud when turned on. But once in place and using the suction, it is much quieter. It’s still fairly noisy even then, especially on settings higher that 5 or 6 (out of 11). I think it’s most quiet underwater. It doesn’t sound like a vibe though. It sounds like a hydro pump or something.

In conclusion

As I said, I think every vulva-owner should have one. The way everyone should have a vibrator. I think its pros waaaaaay outnumber the few cons that I’ve come across.

And it’s so affordable! It sells for $59.99 (and that’s without my 10% off code) at Peepshowtoys and they offer free shipping on orders over $70.

Tantus Echo Review

Tantus Echo Vibrator Dildo

The meaning of it all…

First dildo review for my website! Squeee! How did I publish 20 posts and not a single one focusing on dildos? The universe is mysterious. Actually, this isn’t just a coincidence. It speaks of the state of the industry, and it speaks even more of the average customer’s preferences. Contrary to the common misconception, “a big dick” is not what women covet. Their orgasmic needs far exceed the crave for a phallus. These days we don’t seek a “replacement” or something that mimics the reality. We buy weird horseshoe shaped gadgets and novelties, we demand that our toys can be operated from the other end of the world, and we’re all hyped up about couples’ toys.

A fellow sex educator who works at a sex store said: people think that dildos are for dykes.

Let me tell you something. Dildos are for everybody. Straight or gay, man or woman, cisgender (identifying as the sex you were biologically born with) or transgender. And dildos can be freaking great. Yes, you are normal. You are not a pervert if you already own or want to buy a dildo. No, it’s not going to replace your partner. And no, you are not going to get “addicted” to it and never go back to “the real thing”.

Tantus Echo Vibrator DildoWhy are dildos so cool? To start with, dildos with flared bases, such as all Tantus products, are harness compatible and anal-safe. They’re easy to hold and you can use them on yourself or a partner can use them on you. Dildos nowadays come in all sorts of cool colors and shapes and don’t have to be realistic one bit. They can enhance your sex life even if you have a male partner already, because you can get a dildo with a different size than your partner’s equipment, and most importantly, you can pick one that has a pronounced g-spot curve. Sometimes you need to start small and a smaller toy is a great way to warm up for intercourse.

To the point…

Tantus is a company that is extremely sex-positive, has a really comprehensive website with lots of information and advices on it, and offers both realistic as well as really creative and unusual dildos. Their boxes are not pornographic or cheesy. So take a deep breath and repeat after me: owning a dildo is fun!

What the fudge?!

Yes, it’s a dick with 5 heads. Echo! The sensation of inserting the glans of the penis is echoed 5 times. I doubt that I am the only one that loooooves that moment, that first slide in, that delightful sensation of the head of the penis entering your vagina or anus and the rim of the glans rubbing against your opening… and then past the g-spot… Ahhh… can this last forever? Apparently it can! It feels as good as you’re imagining it. Believe me!

Sooo… how big is it?

Tantus Echo is 6.5″ long and 1.55″ at its widest (diameter). If you are not a fan of such deep penetration, you can absolutely enjoy it without taking it all in. In the dildo world, this is a medium-sized dildo. Usually smaller dildos are used for either warming up, or for pegging (when a woman wears a strap on an uses it anally on a male partner). A lot of people go way overboard and get a 2″ x 7″ dildo  as their first toy. I would say; start smaller, too big can be painful and requires a lot of building up to it. If you are advanced in butt play, this toy is really, really fantastic for anal penetration because the shape is the closest a cock can be to anal beads. A lot of my Tantus toys are way wider and I am not even dreaming of trying them in the back door, but this one passes the challenge quite successfully. It also has a certain smoothness and roundness that makes it particularly pleasant for anal adventures.

What else does it do?

This toy is quite accomplished at “just” being a dildo. Great for thrusting or squeezing your vaginal muscles and contracting around it. But if you are looking for more, there is more. It’s actually a vibrating dildo. It comes with the little Tantus bullet vibe (included in the price of the dildo), which you place in a hole at the base of the toy. The whole is the same size as most bullet vibes, so if you have an even more powerful vibrator, such as We-Vibe Tango/Salsa, it can fit it. The bullet is a one-speed waterproof vibrator, that is powered by one 1.5 V Type battery (not AA nor AAA, it actually lasts much longer). It comes with the battery, but you need to open it and remove the battery protection. And if something happens to the vibrator and one day it breaks, you can easily get a new one from Tantus, without having to replace your whole toy.

Another awesome feature that all Tantus vibrating dildos or plugs offer is that the toy is compatible with the ultra strong Tantus Suction Cup. This turns your toy into a hand-free joy. You can attach it to any surface and use it as if you’re having intercourse. You can attach it on the floor, facing up, get some pillows for your knees and ride it, or you can place it on any wall or vertical surface and have the dildo penetrate you from behind. If your hands tend to get tired from holding the dildo, or if you like a sensation closer to actual intercourse, that’s a great feature.

As I mentioned before, it’s harness compatible. Great for girl sex, or for pegging. While you’re at it you can grab a strap-on from Tantus too. They thought of everything!

How to make most of it

Experiment with your dildo. Don’t assume how you’re supposed to be using it. Jamming it in and a lot of friction might look great in porn, but that’s probably not how you would like to masturbate or be stimulated. Also try holding the dildo still while “humping” it with moves from your pelvis. And, of course, check out the vibration. You can remove the bullet from the toy and actually use it separately on your clit. A combination of g-spot stimulation from penetration and vibration on your clitoris might be your formidable orgasmic combo.

If you own a wand vibrator, such as the Hitachi Magic Wand or the Doxy, try touching the base of the toy with the wand, while the toy is inside of you. That’s going to make the whole toy vibrate in a much stronger and rumbly fashion, which is another entirely different sensation for you to explore.

Final words

I think that the Echo is one of the coolest ideas Tantus had and brought into the world. I love that it’s not too girthy, that it provides me with the repeated sensation of being penetrated by the head of the penis again and again. And I’ve taken advantage of all the ways this toy can be used: as a vibrator, with a suction cup, with a strap on, as an anal dildo. It’s made of body-safe silicone and comes in two gorgeous colors: pearl white and midnight purple. The reason mine is neither is that I bought it from their Grab Bag section, which has their “surprise” colors, mixtures and swirls. If you’re into some mystery, I’d suggest you try their grab bags because they’re cheaper than the regular price. If you have strong color preferences go with the regular one. If you don’t care much about the vibration, using it with a suction cup or a strap-on, Echo has a version with a longer handle, which makes the dildo much more easy to hold and use (and it also seems that they have a pink one, if you accidentally have fallen in love with mine).

You can boil your toy for sanitation and have the peace of mind that it’s completely non-porous. Basically unless you lose it, or your dog chews on it, nothing’s going to ever happen to it. Being made of the regular Tantus silicone blend, and not their softer O2 line, it’s a little hard and stiff. Shiny silicone has a drag to it, so use plenty of lube (stick with water-based or hybrid lube for silicone toys), especially upon initial insertion.

It’s one of my fave dildos and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes texture and doesn’t need a really pronounced g-spot curve. Is it newbie friendly and could it be one’s first toy? Hell yeah!

Note: Tantus Echo was not provided to me in exchange of a review; it’s been a happy part of my toy family for a while now.

Njoy Fun Wand Review

Njoy Fun Wand Double Ended Stainless Steel Dildo

Njoy Fun Wand is an unfortunately overlooked and underestimated toy! It’s been overshadowed by it’s bigger and notorious siblings: the Njoy Pure Wand and the monstrous Njoy Eleven. Yet it has a huge potential to it and might be a better choice for a lot of people (or a good addition to your Njoy family portrait).

Brand

What is Njoy and why are you talking about it as if we’re supposed to know what it is? Good question! There aren’t stupid questions and usually I am one of the last people to get the memo. Njoy is an American brand that specializes in stainless steel dildos and butt plugs. They feature only a small number of toys. Their dildos are double ended, so they offer a good range of different sensations. They’re an investment in your sex life and in yourself because they’re going to last forever. They don’t have batteries or any electronics and they’re made of steel, so they’re never going to deform. Steel, really?! For a sex toy?! This might not sound sexy at first, but believe me: it is! Why is metal sexy? Because it’s perfectly sleek and smooth, it has no drag to it, it slides really pleasantly, even with a tiny bit of lube. And there’s something both luxurious and bad-ass about it.

What’s that Pure Wand you’re talking about? It’s another double ended dildo by Njoy that you might have probably seen in porn. It got famous for making women squirt. What about the Eleven? It’s a 3 lb 11″ long beast. Need I say more? So you see why the Fun Wand has it tough? It simply has a couple of over-achieving siblings to compete with.

Shape

dscn2726The Fun Wand is certainly the most versatile toy Njoy offers. Scratch that, it’s one of the most versatile toys EVER. It’s a double ended dildo that is great for g-spot stimulation, prostate play, and all adventures anal or vaginal. You can share it with your partner, and you can safely switch orifices. It’s S-shaped and it curves this way by design (opposite to the Pure Wand). Doug, the creator of Njoy, wanted it to curve downwards, so while the topping partner is pleasing the receiver, they can also worship them orally. How cool is that? And if you think about it, it’s impossible to be thrusting inside with the Pure Wand and give cunnilingus at the same time. Even using a clitoral vibe isn’t easy-peasy. The Fun allows all that!

One of the ends is smooth and only has a 1″ thick bulb at the end, which is really cool for working the g-spot. This end is as thick as the slimmer end of the Pure Wand and I know a number of people who prefer it. Not everyone is a size queen, you know. Sometimes bigger isn’t better. That same end is great for p-spot stimulation too, without being too big or intimidating in size, if your man isn’t super advanced with anal toys (1″ is as thick as the smallest of the Njoy butt plugs).

The other side is beady, progressing from 0,75″ to 1″ at its widest. Which makes the two smaller beads the smallest Njoy insertables. The small Pure Plug by Njoy has 1″ in girth, so if you or your honey are newbie-newbie to anal play, this is a perfect toy for you. The beads feel fantastic and the curve follows your anatomy perfectly.

What is great about this shape is that it makes it really easy to play with your own bum. The end that will be sticking out is like a little tail or a handle that you can use to thrust in and out or to work your own ass or prostate. Which can be orgasmic, even for women. It’s so easy that you can do it with one hand (reaching back and operating the toy by the handle) and still have your other hand free for using a clit or vag toy, or for stroking your penis.

Didn’t I say it was versatile?

Njoy Fun Wand Double Ended Stainless Steel Dildo

Material

It’s made of the same quality stainless steel found in Njoy products, and it will last you a lifetime. At the same time it’s literally half the weight of the Pure Wand: Fun is only 12 oz or 340 grams, while Pure is 1.5 lb or 680 grams. That is a lot for many people, and the Fun wand comes to the rescue. Even if you already own and love your Pure Wand, you might want to get a Fun Wand just for your travels.

The toy is a joy to maintain. It can be used with every kind of lube: water, silicone or oil-based and is entirely non-porous. So simple soap and water are enough to clean it but if you want to switch from the back to the front door, you will need to soak it in 10% bleach solution or boil it for 5-10 min.

Applications and Use

dscn2679-copy

As I said, it’s delicious for all bodies and can be used for a number of things. One of its amazing qualities is the way it holds temperature. It’s great for temperature play. Warming it up with hot water running from your sink will help with blood circulation and arousal. That turned out to be applicable to butt play too: until I tried Njoy products anally, I didn’t know how wonderful temperature play would feel in there. It will help you relax, open up, and enjoy it more. Even if you don’t necessarily warm it up, it will adjust better to the body temperature and feel really pleasant inside.

How does one play with the g-spot? Simply lubricate and insert the the single bulb end in the vagina. That side of the toy should be facing up: the toy should curve inside towards the belly or the front wall of the vagina. You can add extra pressure on the pubic mound by placing your palm and stimulating the g-spot from outside. By doing this you should be able to feel the head of the toy through the abdomen. But don’t get worried if you don’t, this might not be as pronounced for every woman. Ask your girl for feedback. The g-spot is typically 1.5-2″ from the vaginal opening, so you don’t need a very deep penetration in order to stimulate it. You will feel the toy securely locked or hooked behind the pubic bone. Try moving the toy just sliiightly in and out, or just move it around or “rock it. Try small movements with your wrist while holding the toy; you don’t need a whole lot more.

Last Words

This isn’t a toy for size queens or super advanced anal enthusiasts. It’s very newbie friendly and can be a really good first toy not just for one of the partners, but for both of them. It’s much less girthy but equally exciting as the Pure wand. If you are looking for a 3 in 1 toy (g-spot, p-spot, anal beads) or for something of the same quality as your bigger Njoys, but lighter and more portable, you found your match. It’s also much less of a clit or vulva-blocker. You can enjoy oral sex while being stimulated with the toy because it curves towards your bum, not towards your belly.

The Fun Wand comes in the same luxurious box as all other products from the line, and nobody can ever guess it’s a sex toy. It’s pure artwork. If my pictures don’t prove it, I don’t know what will. You can get it for a little less than $100 and with free shipping from Njoy Toys, Good Vibrations, SheVibe, Peepshowtoys, Lovehoney or Babeland [no free shipping]. In Canada: from Come as You Are; in the UK, Australia or internationally: from Lovehoney.

Njoy Pure wand was a generous present from NJOY as a sponsor gift of Sex Geek Summer Camp 2016.

Sex Life After Divorce (Part 2)

sex after divorceEven though this article is called “sex life after divorce”, all of the ideas in it are applicable after separation, and after a break-up from a long-lasting relationship.

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all been through some tough break-ups at some point in life. While these times can be truly testing, they provide us with a unique opportunity to reset and steer the wheels of life in a (possibly) completely different direction. We’ve covered the most important tips and first steps one should take in order to heal and move on after divorce in the first article on this topic. If you are ready for some swimming in the deep waters, here are some things you should consider.

Go far and beyond

  • Start exploring and trying out new things. I have always wanted to… Yeah, this sentence. All of us have a thing they’ve always wanted to try out and never got the chance to. Whether it was because you were ashamed of your fantasy or desire and didn’t want to share it with your ex, fearing you would be judged, or you just assumed they would never be up for actually trying it: now is you chance! There’s a whole world of sexual experiences waiting for you to dip your toes into. Maybe you’ve never had anal sex, maybe you’ve never used a vibrator, maybe you’ve never been tied up and blindfolded. Brainstorm! Don’t limit your imagination. You can start writing down all the sexual acts that sound appealing or sexy to you, but you’ve never had. Don’t censor or limit yourself while brainstorming. When you have a long list of things, you can start evaluating which ones you just like fantasizing about and which ones you might want to act on. Interested in the darker side? Check out 50 Shades of Kink: An Introduction to BDSM or The Seductive Art Of Japanese Bondage from Midori. Or you want to learn a thing or two about Tantra? Urban Tantra by Barbara Carrellas is your go-to guide.
  • Upgrade self pleasure techniques. Remember this one from Part 1? Yes, start masturbating. But also: change the way you masturbate. Maybe you need to add more lube in order to make things more enjoyable and less friction-y. Maybe you need to try out new positions. [Hint: sitting in a sofa or a lounge chair and having your body leaning slightly forward might feel a whole lot different and better than just lying flat on your back. For women: lying on your stomach adds extra pressure on your g-spot and can make self-satisfaction a whole lot easier.] Get a book or read a couple of articles on solo sex or gay sex for your gender. Maybe you never thought about it, but actually tips for queer sex are a great resource for masturbating because all of the moves are on your kind of “equipment” and you can usually apply them on yourself. Great books on the topic: Ultimate Guide to Solo Sex by Jenny Block or Girl Sex 101 by Allison Moon. The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio by Violet Blue has a really cool section on stroking the penis that can give you ideas on awesome ways to treat your cock.
  • Buy a new (or your first) sex toy. Chances are that if you were married or in a long-lasting committed relationship, whatever sex toy you own is waaaay dated. If your current sex toy is more than a few years old, you need to either toss it away immediately if it’s made of jelly or elastomers (if it’s silicone or plastic, you can keep it), or upgrade it if something better (or rechargeable) is available. Yes, vibrators don’t come with AAA batteries anymore. You plug them in an USB these days! If you are a woman, who’s never had a vibrator or a dildo, please, change this immediately. Most women can’t come from intercourse (is this a surprise to you?!) and need clitoral stimulation to achieve orgasm. Even if you thought that you “can’t” come or it’s really difficult for you, that might change the minute a vibe sets foot on your clit. If you are a guy, you gotta try a masturbator or a stroker. Take a look at companies such as Tenga or Fleshlight. (And please use lube with your penetrable toys!) You can try out cock rings and masturbating while wearing one, or you can explore prostate orgasms on your own with some of the Aneros products. Have you heard of the Ultimate Guide to Prostate Pleasure by Charlie Glickman?
  • Give porn a chance. Even if you have always thought that porn isn’t for you, that it’s shallow, superficial, or just cheesy, things have changed a lot in the last few years. There’s a ton of indie porn, soft-core porn, educational porn, kinky porn and even queer porn. You should be able to find something that best fits you, your aesthetic standards, your taste, and your desires. You’re not a visual person? Try reading some erotica. Rachel Kramer Bussel is a great author I can recommend.
  • Challenge your sexual orientation. Straight suburban wife? If you scratched the last two words from your description, why don’t you see if it’s time to get rid of the first one too? Most people are not entirely straight, nor gay: they’re somewhere on the Kinsey scale. Which means that most of us are at least “a little bit” bi. Men, don’t feel excluded from this paragraph. Chances are that if you live in a bigger city there’s going to be a number of bi or at least bi-curious men. There’s no need to go “all the way”. There’s a number of sexual activities one can engage in with people from their own sex. Just keep an open mind.
  • Challenge monogamy. Try out consensual non-monogamy. There are several kinds of open relationships, and almost all of them have big communities. There’s swinging, and you can try meeting people via the Lifestyle Lounge, swinger’s parties, and events, or even go on a lifestyle vacation. There are cruises and special couples’ resorts that are worth looking into. And there’s polyamory. If you are interested in being in a relationship with more than one person and always thought you were capable of loving more than one person at the same time, maybe polyamory is for you. Great books on the topic are: Opening-Up by Tristan Taormino, The Ethical Slut by Dossie Easton, My Life on the Swingset by Cooper S. Beckett. Or the website and podcast Life on the Swingset. If you are looking for a novel, that is educational and talks about swinging, check out A Life Less Monogamous.
  • Get a sex-positive therapist or counselor. Being able to talk about your sexual self or all the lifestyles that you already participate in, or want to explore, is really important. Make sure that your counselor is understanding and supportive of your growth and development as a sexual being. See this great article from Hedonish.
  • Get a sex-positive health practitioner. Yes, your doctor has to know what you’re up to. You need someone who won’t judge you, will provide understanding and won’t shame you if you’re not monogamous or if you are very sexually active. Hiding information about your sex life might result in inadequate evaluation and medical advice from their side. They need to know what kind of birth control would be a good fit for you, and how often to run STI testing on you. If your current GP or OBGYN doesn’t make you feel comfortable talking about your sex life, that’s a sign you need a new one. Try going to a more progressive LGBTQ clinic or resource center, they’re always very open-minded and helpful.
  • Learn about sexual side effects. If you’re going through a divorce or separation, most likely someone already put you on antidepressants. SSRIs can have a number of sexual side-effects, such as lowered or complete lack of libido. They can even lead to anorgasmia in both men and women! Research what are the common side effects of the drugs you’re taking. And yes, talk to that sex-positive practitioner and ask about the side-effects. Don’t be shy to want your drug changed, or to try lowering your dose. You will need your doctor’s assistance and understanding, and it might take trying out a few different things, but don’t just suck it up and give up on your pleasure. Here’s another awesome article on the topic from Hedonish.

Your life belongs to you and where you’re going to take your body and your mind after the break-up is entirely in your hands (pun intended!). You are allowed to change your mind, and go back and forth on all of these. Your sexual preferences are a living, breathing thing. Just embrace your desires and where your fantasies take you. You can always go back if you want to. Nobody drowned from testing the waters.

B-Vibe Trio Plug Review

b-Vibe Trio Plug

b-Vibe Trio Plug

I am just gonna say one thing. Three independent, powerful motors. In one butt plug. Yes, I AM serious! Lo and behold: the Trio Plug from b-Vibe. It absolutely blew my mind (and my body).

You already know how much I love the Rimming Plug. It’s a pretty darn delicious thing to have in your bum. So when I saw the b-Vibe stand at yet another sex conference I was attending, and they have already launched their new model, I couldn’t resist the urge to immediately order it. When you have a team of sex educators behind a line of products, you don’t think twice. Even if you already own enough butt plugs for a lifetime. (Or so I thought!)

The Product

I am going to repeat myself while listing the features of this awesome plug, because in that respect, it’s almost identical to the Rimming Plug. It’s made of 100% body-safe non-porous silicone, which is exquisite to touch: velvety, matte and completely seamless. It has almost no drag to it and feels really good against your skin. It’s a rechargeable vibrating plug, which takes up to 2.5 hrs to charge completely in exchange for at least an hour of play (the motors a pretty strong and there’s only so much space for the battery in a small little plug). Of course, if you’re not jamming it up on full speed, it will last longer. You can even plug it in in the USB port, which is a very handy feature these days, with all the USB splitters around us and the constant lookout for a power outlet. The Trio Plug is shower-proof, easy to clean and safe to share with partners, when sanitized. I think this is a pretty important feature for this particular plug, because it’s much smaller than the Rimming Plug, ergo it’s much more beginner’s friendly and non-intimidating in size. What I mean by that is: it might be a good toy for your hubby (or sweetheart, or hook-up, or … you fill in the blanks) to start exploring butt and prostate play. One plug for all works just swell, when your toy is high-quality and won’t transmit or re-introduce infections. Dope!

Let’s talk about noise. It’s nearly silent on its lower settings, especially when inserted. When you get to the strongest vibrations, things get a little louder, but it’s still manageable to cover it up in a louder bar or public space.

The Remote

b-Vibe Trio PlugI can’t emphasize enough that the remote actually works. Not just works, but works within 30 ft! I tried it from the other part of the apartment (two rooms and several walls away), and it does its magic! It’s human-friendly, meaning that the interaction with it doesn’t make you want to scream into a pillow, pairs up immediately, controls the toy with no delay, looks really cool, and has easy to understand buttons. It even has a travel lock (just press the + and the – simultaneously and your toy won’t go off in the middle of your TSA security screening). Not that you need the travel lock that much, given that the plug comes with an awesome travel case, and it’s near to impossible for it to get turned on accidentally. But in case you just threw the toy and the remote in your purse, b-Vibe has your back. And butt for that matter (wink).

You can use the plug even without the remote, but the remote makes it really easy to control the speed/power. To pair the plug with the remote, you just need to press the power button at the bottom of the base. It will start blinking and your remote is connected (you have to first open the remote’s battery compartment and pull out the little protection that the battery has). From this point on you can go at yourself, or even hand the control over to your partner. It’s really convenient that you don’t have to reach back and press anything on the plug in order to change speeds or patterns.

The remote’s made of white plastic and silicone matching the color of your plug. The only difference between the remote of the Rimming plug is that it only has 3 buttons: plus, minus and the pattern, it doesn’t have the one for the rotating beads. So even if you order your Trio in the same color as your Rimming Plug, you’ll still be able to differentiate between the two. For the sake of it, I tried to see if I can use the Rimming Remote on the Trio Plug and vice-versa (at least the options that overlap), and it doesn’t work. Which is cool, because you can actually use both at once, without messing up which controls what. For instance you can have the Rimming Plug in your butt, while your sweetheart is enjoying the Trio, and the signals won’t get confused. Think how cool that is for threesomes, group activities, etc. The more plugs, the merrier. And the more people, the merrier.

Dimensions

The Trio Plug is much smaller than The Rimming Plug (Want to read my review of it? Find it here!). If you are just reading the specifications, you wouldn’t think so, but if you take a look at this image from the b-Vibe website you can clearly see how much slimmer the Trio is. If you want me to toss around numbers: it has an insertable size of 4.3” / 11 cm and is 1.25” / 3 cm wide at its widest. This would place it somewhere between beginner-friendly and intermediate. It starts off really thin, the tip is as big as a finger. You can check this out for an idea: my fingers are very small and slim. It’s so much easier to walk around with, or to sit while wearing it, than with the Rimming Plug. I definitely see this one as a good toy for an outing. The base is smaller than the one of the Rimming plug and gets in the way much less frequently. It makes using it while having intercourse much less of a challenge. If you have a short space between the entrance of your vagina and your anus, try rotating the base sideways, so it’s even more out of the way.

Power and Patterns

Here comes the best part. It has 8 vibration levels and 9 patterns, which are all comprehensively explained in the manual. The patterns are revolutionary: they cascade from motor to motor, pulsate, oscillate… It’s like an amusement park for your bum. It’s just… RAD. I never thought my butt could be further impressed and that I would get to experience anything new and extraordinary at this point in life, but I stand corrected.

Using It

b-Vibe Trio PlugI never suspected I can cum from a butt toy, especially from a… plug. Without even doing anything, not even thrusting in and out. Just from having the plug in. You simply place it, turn it on, breathe deeply, squeeze your PC muscles, clench and relax, clench and relax. And voila! You just came. Just like that! And if you add some clitoral vibration (the Doxy on your clit makes for a great combo), while having the Trio buzzing joyfully inside of you, that will really rock your world. It’s better than vaginal penetration + clit vibration. It’s a whole new world of orgasms, uncontrollable, unstoppable…

Just keep in mind that while cumming, especially when the plug is well lubed, it might slip out, because of your convulsions while having an orgasm. It’s not that big of a deal, because the plug stays under other circumstances. I personally shoot out everything outside of me, even vaginally, when I cum. That’s how hard I clench, but that’s just me, your body and orgasms could be different.

Unusual Applications

Powerful uncontrollable orgasms? Hence the BDSM possibilities that this plug offers. Not just because it can be operated from distance or by someone else, but because you can use it for forced orgasm.

And last but not least, it’s a pretty decent clit vibe if I have to be honest. The motors are so strong and so pleasant that I had to try the plug against my clit. Using it on the first possible setting, which has only the motor at the tip on, is ideal for pinpointed clit vibrations. And it’s easy to hold, and it’s soooo rumbly! It’s even great as an overall vulva vibe (vulva being the umbrella term for all the external genitalia: the labia minora and majora and the clit, not to be confused with vagina, which is your orifice). Because it has the three independent motors and patterns that wave from one motor to the other, it can give you sensations that don’t really compare to anything else out there. And of course, you can use it as a vag plug, especially if you like (to try) vibration at your vaginal opening. Just have fun and try different things out.

Sigh… I so wish b-Vibe started making vaginal and clitoral toys. But that will defeat their name (b for butt), I know, I know. They should have sister company then! Ha!

Packaging

Trio comes in the same awesome box and travel case as the Rimming Plug. Only this time the color scheme is different. With the old one we had a sage & black theme: those were the two color options for the plug, while the travel case came only in sage. This time it’s purple & black. The product box is purple, while the travel case is black, even if you get a purple plug.

Je Joue Dua Review

dscn2814

Je Joue Dua is a curious beast with lots of contradictions to it. It’s supposed to be a couple’s toy, but proves best for solo, hands-free use. It’s supposed to be remote controlled, but its remote sucks and is impossible to use. It’s oddly shaped and looks weird, so one would think that it wouldn’t work for their body, but it does.

Je Joue, don’t be fooled by the French name, is a British brand, strongly represented in the United States and globally at high-end sex toy retailers. Je Joue translates to “I play” and frankly: I really love their name. Both the way it sounds, and what it stands for. They specialize in high-quality luxury sex toys. They only offer a handful of models, but their products have a character, they all feature similar round shapes and smooth design. Dua is my first toy by Je Joue and I was quite thrilled to get my hands on it.

The Basics

Dua has all the features that are a must for a toy of this price-range and from a brand that is trying to penetrate the luxury sex toys market. (See what I did there?) Dua is fully waterproof and it’s rechargeable (2 hrs of charging should give you 2 hrs of play). It’s entirely body-safe and is made of very smooth matte silicone that feels really velvety and nice on your skin and inside your body. It’s definitely less rigid and has some softness and bendiness that just fit my body really well. Comparisons with We-Vibe 4 Plus throughout this review cannot be avoided, so I am not gonna beat around the bush and I am going to just throw it out there. It simply feels nicer that the We-Vibe. It’s less poky and uncomfortable, the shapes are very ergonomic, everything fits just fine. That might not be the case for each body and everyone’s private parts though.

It’s so much less noisy than the We-Vibe. It can be used outside and played secretly with in a public space. If you are in a very quiet space, I would only use the internal vibe, as it’s almost silent. The external motor is more buzzy and noisy. On its highest setting it can without doubt be heard, unless you’re in a very loud bar or a club.

Packaging

Je Joue DuaIt comes in a full-blown-luxurious-five-star-executive-exclusive-platinum-whatever package. They’ve outdone themselves. Your toy is packed in a beautiful box that’s inside another beautiful box. (We have no troubles here! Here life is beautiful… The girls are beautiful… Even the orchestra is beautiful! – I might be the only person who will get this reference, but still.) Little compartments for the charger, for the pen that works as a remote control, instruction book, pretty booklet about the brand, etc., etc. And yet, no storage bag, no travel case, no nothing (yes, double negative). Okay, if you only own one toy, and if you feel like storing it in the original box: good for you. But the box is 10 times bigger than the actual toy and it’s heavy on top of everything. The We-Vibe comes with its charging station that closes up and keeps your toy away from dust or curious eyes and I completely love how compact that thing is and how easy it is to store it in-between sessions. The Dua has nada! As I said, it’s a toy with so many contradictions.

Shape and Play

Je Joue DuaJe Joue Dua is in a way a reversed We-Vibe. It features a much bigger g-spot part, that needs to be inserted, and has a smaller, thinner outer part, that should be lying against your clit. The whole toy is much bigger than the We-Vibe. It’s not meant to be used during intercourse. The internal part is as big as the head of a bulky big g-spot dildo. And I love that about it. It feels so good and fits perfectly. Even without any vibration, I just love how filling it is, how well it follows the curves of my body. It stays in, even when you’ve used a lot of lube (and you will need it, because it’s very bulby). It doesn’t move around, it doesn’t slip out. The clitoral arm stays against your clit and the internal part stays in. Even while walking! You can even do Kegels with it and it’s so yummy and delicious that way. You really don’t need to use any hands with it. If you turn it on, which can be challenging and a little rocket-sciency, it’s capable of giving you really cool hands free orgasms. That might not happen for everyone, but try breathing deeply, clenching your PC muscles, squeezing it inside of you. Try a combination of different speeds and patterns.

With questionable success rate, creative ways of using it is scissoring with a female partner and trying the external part against their vulva and clit, if you manage to make the position work. With a penis-owning partner, they can rest their cock on the external arm of the vibe and enjoy the vibes with you.

The toy shouldn’t be used anally as it doesn’t have a flared base. Don’t get tempted to just insert the smaller part and leave the bigger part outside, because the charging dock and the control button are there. They’re waterproof and all, but some lube and other fluids can get stuck there. It’s just not an anal toy. Go check out the Je Joue Nuo instead.

Remote Control and App

Je Joue DuaCouples toys have been in for the past several years. What a particular manufacturer means by that varies hugely though. In the case of Je Joue: it’s just a remote controlled toy. You can’t have your partner’s penis inside of you while wearing the toy, it really is meant to have only one receiver. Via the mobile app, your partner can control the toy from the other end of the word. There’s the trick though: it only works for iOS. They don’t support an app for Android. So if you want to enjoy some long distance play, both of you will need to have an iPhone or an iPad. Their app is simple and definitely easier to interact with than the We-Vibe app. The application also has some tutorials, Q&A’s, and guides. Pretty cool.

It has 7 vibration patterns, some of which only feature internal stimulation, others: just external. The rest are a mixture of pulsations and patterns, which turned out to be very satisfying and pleasant. Each pattern can be operated in 5 different speeds. With the app you can create sessions and literally program it: start with X min of pattern Y on speed Z, then move to … You get the idea. You can also control it in real time, or “outsource” that to your partner.

The remote control that comes with the toys is… useless. It doesn’t pair well, it glitches a lot. What I like about it is that it gives you feedback: it vibrates lightly, so you know what pattern you’re applying on your partner. But it just never works. Changing speeds or patterns, even simple pairing and turning the toy on is a headache. Not to mention that the pen doesn’t look nearly as cool as it’s meant to be. James-Bond-like, my ass. It looks tacky.

Pairing Dua with the pen or the toy works by pressing a little nub where the charging magnet at the end of the clitoral arm are. It doesn’t really look like a button, it’s almost flat. It’s impossible to press it with luby hands. I would press it before insertion. If you succeeded, a little light with the Je Joue logo should blink. Then take your phone and click pair. When it connects, just press on one of the patterns and that’s it.

Patterns

It’s really worth playing with the patterns. Having the two independent motors: the clit one and the vag one, creates really cool opportunities for stimulation. The patterns cascade from one motor to the other and it gives you some really deep and more full-body sensations.

Last Words

With all of its cons and confusing contradictions, Dua is one of the toys that I really, really love. It can entertain me hands free, it gives me orgasms, it’s quieter than most of its competitors, and I love its patterns.

Don’t get a Dua if you: don’t have an iOS device. If you’re looking for a first toy, maybe don’t get Dua either. Get yourself some of the basics: a good vibe and/or a dildo. This really isn’t a first toy. You can’t really thrust with it, you can’t move it around, and you can barely change the position of the motors. Although, if you have limited mobility, a bad wrist or a painful elbow that makes holding a vibrator painful and difficult: this is a really cool toy, that once you insert, you can forget about and just go with it. It’s a big investment.

(Please clear your cookies before clicking on any of my links to retailers. By doing that you are helping me support this blog at no additional cost to you.)

Get your Dua for $139 and free shipping from Peepshow Toys or for $156 with free shipping from SheVibe or from Babeland for the same price (shipping rates vary). If you are from Canada, you can get yours from Come As You Are for $140 CAD (subscribe for their mailing list and you will get free shipping too). Dua comes in 4 colors: black, lilac, pink fuschia and purple (mine is purple).

Note: Dua is part of my own toy collection, it was not a free product in exchange for review.

There’s Nothing Wrong with You if You Need Lube

Sexual Lubricants

When it comes to our bodies and how they work, we want them to always be responding. Whenever we ask them to. And when things don’t go our way, we want quick fixes. And there’s nothing wrong with that. If something can lessen our suffering or frustration, why shouldn’t we take immediate advantage of it? If science has an answer for it, and if we can easily find the solution, we don’t waste a second and get a doctor’s prescription, or drive to the drug store in the middle of the night.

Sexual LubricantsAnd yet when it comes to vaginal lubrication we expect our body to always be good to go. If we’re turned on, we shouldn’t need extra lube. And we take it as a personal failure if that’s not sufficient. The “we” in the last sentence being ALL of us. We, women, because we’ll blame ourselves and assume that it’s our fault, and that there’s something wrong with us. But men as well, because they tend to think they’re doing something wrong, and that they’re not good enough if we’re not an everlasting spring. There’s so much shame around using extra lube and not being moist enough. Yet there’s no shame if our eyes don’t produce enough lubrication and we use some Visine instead. We wouldn’t go: “Oh, her eyes are so dry when she’s with me, why am I not sufficient enough for her, why does she need to use any eye drops”.

A lot of things can affect a woman’s vaginal moist, and it doesn’t only happen to menopausal women. What can be causing your vaginal dryness?

  1. The pill and other hormonal contraception. If you are on any form of hormonal birth control (the pill, shots, the implant, hormonal IUDs) that’s going to change the thickness of your cervical mucus and could cause vaginal dryness. Given that a lot of women start taking the pill even before losing their virginity, for a number of girls dryness is status quo.
  2. Your menstrual cycle. Your body’s ability to self-lubricate changes throughout your monthly period. You are probably going to be very dry during your period and the days leading to it. If you’re using tampons, that’s going to additionally make you sore to the extent that intercourse can be quite painful a couple of days after you’ve had your period.
  3. Being dehydrated overall. Not drinking enough water throughout the day is bad enough as it is, but is a borderline health hazard during sex when you’re going to get aroused, sweat, and even get a fair amount of exercise. Pro tip: drinking plenty of water is really important for oral and anal sex as well; in general, keep a bottle or glass next to your bed.
  4. Alcohol, cigarettes, or just having smoked some pot. All these substances can make you very dry. While the effect of cigarettes come with longer term use, alcohol and weed can make you dry right away.
  5. Lack of sleep, fatigue, stress. Have you noticed how tired and terrible your skin looks like when you’ve under-slept or stressed? Lack of rest and time for regeneration affect your private tissues as well.
  6. Douching. Vaginal douching is not only causing you dryness, but also disbalancing your flora (the good bacteria and microorganisms that keep your vagina healthy and prevent infections), and your pH.
  7. Allergy and some cold meds. One of the side-effects of antihistamines is that they can cause intimate dehydration. The effect is temporary and only lasts while you’re on the drugs.
  8. Childbirth and nursing. Your postpartum body is going to lack the progesterone and estrogen needed to produce lubrication and your hormonal levels are going to remain low while you’re breastfeeding.
  9. Menopause. The post menopausal body isn’t producing enough estrogen either and the elasticity of the vaginal walls is decaying as well.
  10. Lack of or too little foreplay. Not giving your body enough time to get aroused and skipping foreplay can make sex so much less enjoyable, and even painful.
  11. Bad over-the-counter lubricants. The most popular lube brands, and the ones you can find in the any drugstore or grocery store, usually contain glycerin and propylene glycol. These ingredients are really heavy and bad for your body. They will make things slippery during use, but what they actually do is they deplete your cells’ own water supplies and leave them really dry and prone to tears.

Sexual Lubricants

Just Add Lube!

Whether you’re 21 or 51 there’s nothing wrong in “fixing” what’s temporarily or more permanently not “working”. Using a sexual lubricant makes sex tenfold more enjoyable. It decreases the risk of damaging the gentle mucous membrane of your vagina or your penis, and helps prevent friction burn and discomfort. It also reduces the risk of STI transmission: both because micro tears on your tissue make you more susceptible, and because the lack of proper lubrication highly increases the risk of condom breakage and failure.

So do your sex life a favor, and get your essentials from a sex-positive store nearby or online. Always keep a bottle of lube on your nightstand and a little sample in your purse.

Tantus Ryder Review

Tantus Ryder Butt Plug

There are toys you are going to see reviewed in every sex toy blog. And there is the rest: the occasional starlets that burn to ashes really fast. You will see them reviewed because they’ve just come out and the company was sending them away to bloggers. People like them okay but don’t get to take them out of the closet very often afterwards.

(Please clear your cookies before clicking on any of my links to retailers. By doing that you are helping me support this blog at no additional cost to you.)

And there are the stars. Stars like the Njoy Pure Wand. Or the Tantus Ryder. Products that over the years people still have kept talking and writing about. Toys that reviewers and sex educators have come to love so much that they are willing to buy them on their own dime, instead of waiting to receive them in an exchange for a review. There are toys you keep using over and over again. Oh yes, Tantus did it again.

Tantus Ryder Butt PlugRyder is just one of the greatest butt plugs created. Ever. Seriously, just check how much’s been written about it.

Ryder is not an anal toy for beginners. If you are new to butt play, don’t stop reading, but also don’t rush to buy it and use it right away either. You might want to check the Tantus guide to choosing an anal plug and start off with something less challenging. Ryder is 1 1/2″ in diameter at it’s widest part, and has between 3 and 4″ of insertable length (depending on how much of the neck is going to be left outside). I would say it’s a great match for intermediate to advanced users. It has a very tight neck and stays put, nicely positioned with zero risk of slipping out. Which makes it a great plug for longer use. It’s pleasantly rounded and smooth, and it’s so incredibly ergonomic. It’s really easy to put it in; properly lubed, the silicone slides really nicely. When unlubed, the glossy silicone has a lot of drag, but that disappears right away once lubricated. You want to stick with thicker and longer lasting lube, such as Sliquid Sassy or Sliquid Organics Natural Gel.

The base of the plug is really small and comfortable, providing enough safety, but not uncomfortable for longer use. It fits well between one’s cheeks. The neck of the toy is nicely bendy and flexible, so sitting or walking around while having it inside isn’t an issue. Ryder is filling. With its specifications and shape it can be a great tool for anal sex prep. Although if you are thinking of double penetration and using it during vaginal intercourse, it might be a bit too much for some people.

Ryder is made of 100% premium Tantus silicone, which is entirely body-safe, it doesn’t harbor bacteria, it’s easy to clean, and can be thoroughly sanitized if shared with partners. Tantus just equals quality. Period. Their toys come in a very tasteful and non-intimidating packaging. Since they’re silicone, they’re among the easiest to store: you don’t even need to keep them in toy bags or pouches.

Tantus Ryder Butt PlugWhat you see in my pictures is the pre-2016 version of the toy. Most Tantus plugs got updated this year: it got slightly smaller and now feature an anchor base, which should be even more comfortable. Ryder also got a new velvet matte finish. It comes in two colors: black and purple. One more thing I love about it is that it’s so affordable (for a high-quality silicone sex toy of that size). Ryder has a retail price of $40. You can find it at Peepshow Toys for just $29 and you even get 10% off with code WETLANDIA.

If you like the idea of anal play and toys, but prefer anal beads instead, check out my review of Tantus Ripple Large.

Note: Tantus Ryder was not provided to me in exchange of a review; it’s been a happy part of my toy family for a while now.

Lelo Soraya Review

Lelo Soraya Vibrator

The Company

Lelo is a company that’s created some of the most aesthetic, beautiful and useful toys over the years. It’s also a company that’s been somewhat controversial lately: both because of certain marketing decisions, and because of several products that didn’t succeed in meeting the client’s expectations. Unfortunately most sex toy manufacturers have failed a number of times at a point of their existence. It’s hard to please everyone, especially when it comes to bodies and pleasure. We’re all different and have different needs and preferences. What we can’t do though is take away from them what they’ve done right.

And Lelo Soraya to me is one of the things they’ve done right.

Dual Vibrators

Soraya is a rabbit vibrator and as such, by definition, it isn’t gonna be liked by most people. Why? Because rabbits are the toughest category to create and they have the biggest potential to disappoint, simply because they’re never going to fit each and every body and need. The success of a rabbit depends on being the right fit for a customer: the shape has to really work with one’s anatomy.

So what’s the issue? Usually with rabbits the problem is that if the vibe is too long, you won’t be able to take it all in, and the little “arm” won’t touch your clit (I will call the “arm” or the “ear” the small part for external stimulation). If the shaft is too short, it won’t give you much or the right internal stimulation. Yes, Soraya is slim and kind of long: with its insertable part at 5″ and barely being 1 1/2″ in diameter at its widest point. But also the ear isn’t that short (2″), so it has a fair amount of reach. One huge advantage that Soraya has is that its clitoral part is very flexible. So you can actually, fairly easily, adjust the ear closer and better for your clitoris with the help of just a finger. Many people have complained about the loop at the base of the vibrator, but I personally think it’s a godsend. It makes it just so comfortable to hold and use both yourself or on someone. It really gives you a better grip and it’s easier on your hands. You can use your thumb to slightly push the arm of the vibe towards your clit. Yes, this can make your finger a little numb, but it’s really not that big of a deal. Another way of having a better fit is if you use it while lying on your stomach. That should press the external part really well towards your body. Sometimes crossing your legs or holding them together helps with having a better and closer fit.

Features

Lelo Soraya VibratorWhat do you get from the Soraya? Everything you should be getting when you order a high-end vibrator. It’s made of quality silicone and ABS plastic. Some people don’t care much for the ABS plastic part, but it is 100% body-safe, and gives the Insignia line of their products a luxury look. It doesn’t smudge, it’s not rugged and there’s nothing about the seam between the two materials that’s going to feel uncomfortable or in any way unpleasant. The real problem with the dual-material design is that lube (either your own natural vaginal lubrication or the personal lubricant you are using during play) can get stuck (and dry out) in the that little crevice. And it’s a pain to clean. The only way to really get it our of there is cleaning it with long fingernails. As for the “Lelo” inscription engraved on the shaft: the only way to get lube out of that one is with a toothbrush or a small cleaning brush. How do you clean the toy overall? Just use any sex toy cleaner or soap and water. The materials are non-porous and you don’t really need more care that that. If you want to sanitize it further, you can always soak it in 10% bleach solution for 5-10 min.

And yes, Soraya is 100% waterproof. Take it in the shower or the bath tub with you and enjoy some carefree time. It does look freaky at first, because its power port is completely exposed so you’d think that you shouldn’t have water anywhere near it. Well, people from Lelo have worked really hard to make that feature for you, and it works like a charm. So give your Soraya a nice bubble bath and forget your worries.

Clearly, it’s a rechargeable toy, which these days is a must. It takes 2 hours to charge the battery completely. Lelo claims that this gives you up to 4 hrs of play. I honestly don’t know, because I don’t use it on lower settings. What I use the most is both motors on full speed. Which gives you 2-2 1/2 hrs of uninterrupted play. And if that’s not enough, you can always use your toy while it’s charging: one of the things I love about the “good old” non-magnetic charging ports. It won’t get loose even if you decide to give it a ride while the cord is in the outlet.

As all Lelo toys, it’s really travel friendly. It comes with a satin drawstring bag for storage (although it’s absolutely safe to just leave it next to other toys or in your drawer). It’s silicone and it won’t change it’s shape or chemically react to other toys or materials. It has a travel lock and that’s a life saver when it come s to airports or simply carrying it in your hand bag. When you use the feature, it won’t accidentally turn on when you least want it to.

Lelo Soraya VibratorIt’s very quiet and the vibrations are quite rumbly, especially on higher settings. It has two motors that work independently: one in the shaft and one in the arm. You can have either just clitoral vibration, or internal, or both at the same time. The vibe has several patterns, as well as the three steady settings (dual, vaginal and clitoral). You can flip through the patterns by pressing the button in the middle, but you will have to go full cycle if you want to go back to a mode that you already passed. Luckily the power can be adjusted to your preference. It can start really slow and it’s a great toy for those of you who need these more nuanced and delicate settings. On the other hand, power queens will most probably be underwhelmed because even on its highest setting it’s still not very powerful.

Is it a good choice for you?

You need to consider several things before buying one: do you like slim vibrators and dildos or do you need something girthy and more substantial? Do you need a lot of power or you like savoring these lower rumbly settings? Do you need a more pronounced g-spot curve?

Last words

I am always going to have warm feelings for this toy, because it gave me my first blended orgasms, and it taught me how much I enjoy dual stimulation. It looks simply gorgeous and it’s very non-intimidating. I actually appreciate that it’s slim, because I’ve used it for many, many hours (sometimes up to 2 hrs a day) and it’s never left me sore, or with unpleasant friction burns.

The toy was a gift from a close friend and I have to say that I have very mixed feelings about its price tag of $239. Yes, it comes with a 1-year warranty, but sometimes toys break after the first year. And as with all rechargeable toys, a fair amount of people report that they stop holding their battery with time.

It comes in 3 color choices: black, deep rose or cerise. You can order yours straight from Lelo or you can get it from My Secret Luxury or Shevibe. Don’t forget to add a water-based lubricant to your cart.

Tantus Ripple Large Review

DSCN2500I have to say that I am terribly excited (and nervous) to be writing my first review of a Tantus toy. I literally have butterflies in my stomach. It’s like writing your first love letter to someone who didn’t know you even existed.

The Brand

A few words about Tantus. They are the manufacturer of what’s probably the most extensive and diverse collection of dildos, plugs and silicone sex toys. Their creations come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Whether you want your own super realistic dildo, or something that better resembles a phallic sculpture by a mad genius than something bought from a sex store, Tantus has something to offer. All of their toys are made of 100% premium silicone (with the small exceptions of their discontinued Alumina line, which was made of aluminum). It’s entirely body-safe, easy to clean and store (you don’t need to keep your toys in separate containers or bags), and sanitizeable so you can share your toys with partners. (Yay polyamory! Or yay being single!)

All Tantus dildos have a flared base and are harness compatible, which makes them safe to be used anally. Some come with a little bullet vibe that goes into a hole at the base. Those products are also compatible with their suction cup.

The Specifications

Tantus Ripple LargeSome of the most beloved anal toys on the market are made by them (for example The Ryder). And The Ripple is no exception. Tantus Ripple Large is one of the best things created for your ass that is not a butt plug (although for some reason it can be found under their plugs section). The Ripple comes in two sizes. The Small one has a diameter of its widest insertable part of 1″ and total length of 4.95″ (not all of which is insertable), while the Large has a diameter of its widest insertable part of 1.5″ and diameter of its slimmest part of 0.8″ and total (not insertable) length of 6.85″.

The Ripple Large appears as a toy that is advanced-users only, which is not entirely true. Yes, it is really, really long. But it’s not a plug and it doesn’t stay put (even if you try to keep it in, the neck isn’t slim enough, compared to its widest part). So it’s a toy somebody is going to use on you or you are going to use yourself. Which makes The Ripple almost newbie friendly. Its tip and its smallest bead is very non-intimidating. It can absolutely be used as an anal probe and as a first time experience. If you are new to this, just don’t get greedy and don’t aim for more. Take your time with the toy. Do as many sessions with just one bead as you need. When you move to the next one, do the same: wait until you move further.

As for taking the whole thing: even the most advanced users might have a hard time doing that, because the beads are very lengthy. If you are looking for length, this is absolutely your toy! It’s very bendy and flexible, it can follow the curves of your body and your orifice.

The Shape

Tantus Ripple LargeI really love the ratio between the size of the beads themselves and thickness of the space between two beads. Fun Factory Bendybeads is another beloved anal toy of mine, but it’s too slim in between beads and makes every next bead very pronounced. With The Ripple everything is just one really nice gradual slide. Not to mention how seamless and sleek it is. It’s an absolute joy to clean. No dents, no grooves, no sockets where lube can get sticky and tough to remove.

The Ripple reminds me a lot of Tantus Alumina Revolve. If you have it, and liked its shape and curves, but are looking for something flexible, Ripple is the closest thing you are going to find.

The Action

I’ve discovered one really cool way of using it solo, or hands free. Because its base is flared, it kind of stays upwards even on the bed. Slide the toy to the second last bead and assume a cowgirl (or cowboy, this trick can be done by both male and female users) position, in which you are just simply riding The Ripple, which should be in an upright position with its base standing on the bed. For this to work you need a lot of lube. While you are sitting in a cowgirl, you can start rocking or “riding” it: sliding all the way to the last bead (remember, you didn’t have it all in initially). Then, because the neck is thick, and because of the abundance of lubricant, probably eventually the last bead will slide out slowly. And then you sit on it again. You get the idea. If it’s not sliding out itself, you can lock it with your feet and slide out a bit. Absolute hands-free and partner-free anal thrusting.

Tantus Ripple Large

And this is just a thought: if you are performing this while with a partner, you can actually really easily perform oral sex on them. Just assume your Riding-The-Ripple position between your partner’s legs, while they’re lying on the bed. Make sure to have enough distance to their genitals – so you can lean comfortably forward. Depending on their height, you should be sitting on your Ripple roughly where your partner’s knees will be on the bed. Gosh, I hope I am explaining this well enough for you. And an even naughtier thought: if you happen to have a mirror behind you, so they can see you ride the beads, while servicing them, that makes the whole thing mindblowingly hot. And if you want to turn this into a BDSM scene: because this whole operation could be totally hands free, there’s nothing preventing you from being handcuffed.

The Verdict

Are there any downsides to this toy? I would say “NO”, if you have your expectations straight. Carefully choose which size will fit your needs and whether you like lengthy anal strings to begin with. And again – these are not beads that will stay put. Rather than beads you are going to have to thrust in with your hands or with a strap-on.

The Call to Action

(Please clear your cookies before clicking on any of my links to retailers.)

They come in two gorgeous colors: black and midnight purple, and the silicone has a nice glossy finish. You can also often find The Ripple in Tantus’ Grab Bag section: meaning that you won’t be able to pick your color and the toy will probably be some swirl of several colors. But your product will be cheaper than the retail price. Aside from that: same Tantus premium silicone quality.

Get The Ripple Large from Tantus for $47.44 or Ripple Small for $37.54.

The Ripple is part of my private toy collection and it wasn’t given to me in an exchange for a review.
